the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, a
copy of a Despatch from Her Majesty's Representatives at Algiers, enclosing the following
communication from the Governor-General,
respecting the sanitary precautions to be taken

J'ai 1'honneur de vous informer que les provenances de Bombay et de toutes les autreu
localites ou In peste a ete constate sont soumises,
depuis le mois de Novembre, dans tous les ports
de 1'Algerie ; aux mesures d'inspection, visit e
medicale et disinfection prescrites par le reglement sanitaire. En outre, deux d£crets en date
du 19 et27 Janvier .qui ontetd publics au Journal
Officiel de la Republique Fran raise et au Mobacher,
imposent aux marchandises provenant des ports
de 1'Ocean Indien un regime special,
J'ai egalement 1'honneur de vous informer que
les provenances de Plymouth sont considerdes
comme suspectes et soumises & une surveillance
attentive en raison des cas de cholera qui ont ete
constatees dans cette ville.

Despatch from Her Majesty's Representative at
Dunkirk, enclosing the following communication
respecting Quarantine:—

Ports du Nord et du Pas de Calais.
Dunkerque, le 12 FeVrier, 1897.
MONSIEUR LE CONSUL:
LA quarantaine est imposee aux navircs
vemint de Bombay, elle dure 4 jours, s'il n'y a
pas de malades. S'il se trouvait des malades a
bord ceux ci seraient debarques au. lazaret-tente
et la quarantaine du navire durerait neuf jours a
partir du debarquement des malades.
Les marchandises provenant de Bombay Kurrachee et des ports contamines sont de*sinfectees
par des pulverisations de bichlorure de mercure ;
les literies et linge de 1'equipage sont de"sinfectes
a. 1'etuve par la vapeur. Quand aux passagers ils
se desinfecteront eux-memes a 1'aide des lavages
avec la solution de sublime.
