CX-Programmer Version Upgrade Software
(Ver.3.2->Ver.3.3) Installation Procedure
■Version Upgrade Flow
The following shows the operation flow of upgrading the CX-Programmer version from
Ver.3.2 to Ver.3.3 by using CX-Programmer Version Upgrade Software.
1) Checking the current CX-Programmer version
↓
2) Downloading Version Upgrade Software
↓
3) Executing Version Upgrade Software
↓
4) Checking the upgraded version
■Checking the current CX-Programmer version
Version Upgrade Software is dedicated for CX-Programmer Ver.3.2. Be sure to check
the version of CX-Programmer installed in your computer.
Programmer, select [Help] | [About CX-Programmer].
After starting CX-
You can check the current
version by the version of CX-P.exe.
■Downloading Version Upgrade Software

You need to copy Version Upgrade Software for upgrading CX-Programmer to
version 3.3 into the hard disk of the computer where CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 is
installed.
Download either one of the following files to copy it to the hard disk of the computer
where CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 is installed.
CXP320_330E.exe
If you want to copy Version Upgrade Software in the hard disk of your computer
through a floppy disk, download the following divided files to copy them in the same
directory of the hard disk where CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 is installed.
CXP320_330EC.exe
CXP320_330EC.001
Execute CXP320_330EC.exe among the above files, and CXP320_330E.exe is
generated.
Execute the generated file “CXP320_330E.exe”, and the following files are extracted.

data1.cab
•
data1.hdr
•
data2.cab
•
ikernel.ex_
•
layout.bin
•
setup.exe
•
setup.ini
•
setup.inx
Execute the file “setup.exe”, and the version upgrade starts.
After the upgrade is completed, you can delete the directory and files.
■Executing Version Upgrade Software
The operation of version upgrade after starting setup.exe is explained hereinafter.
1.
The following dialog box shows up after starting Version Upgrade Software.

Click [Next]. The [License Agreement] dialog box shows up.
3.
Read [License Agreement] carefully.
Click [Yes] if you agree to all the terms and
conditions.

The version upgrade program automatically upgrades the versions of CXProgrammer and CX-Server files installed in the specified folders.

After the version upgrade of CX-Programmer is completed, the following
dialog shows up.
Notice: CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 cannot be upgraded when installed in the root
directory. Once uninstall CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 from the root directory, reinstall it
to a different directory and then try upgrading.

Click [Complete].

Now the version upgrade of CX-Programmer is completed.
■Checking the upgraded version
After starting CX-Programmer, select [Help] | [About CX-Programmer] to check that the
version of CX-P.exe is [3.3.0.1].
And then, click the [About] button to show the version
information of CX-Server and check that the version is [1.7.4.3].
■Trouble Shooting
When the following dialog shows up during installation, CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 is not
installed correctly.
Check again whether CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 is installed in, and if installed, check the
installation directory. After that, execute setup.exe again.
When the following dialog shows up during installation, the version upgrade has not
ended correctly.
In this case, CX-Programmer Ver.3.2 may not be correctly installed or may be in use.
Reinstall CX-Programmer, or restart your PC. After that execute setup.exe again.
When the following dialog shows up during installation, CX-Server Ver.1.73 is not installed
correctly.
Check again whether CX-Server Ver.1.73 is installed in, and if installed, check the
installation directory. After that, execute setup.exe again.
When the following dialog shows up during installation, the version upgrade has not
ended correctly.
In this case, CX-Server Ver.1.73 may not be correctly installed or may be in use.
Reinstall CX-Programmer, or restart your PC. After that execute setup.exe again.
When the following dialog shows up during installation, the version upgrade has not
ended correctly.
In this case, CX-Programmer registry information may not be correctly or CX-Programmer
may be in use.
setup.exe again.
Reinstall CX-Programmer, or restart your PC.
After that execute
■ Uninstall
The procedure for uninstalling programs related to CX-Programmer is explained
hereinafter.
To uninstall programs related to CX-Programmer, you need to delete the following
applications:
1.

CX-Programmer v3.2
•
CX-Programmer v3.3 Upgrade
•
CX-Server
•
CX-Server PLC Tools
•
another CX-Programmer Version Upgrade
Select [Start] | [Settings] | [Control Panel] | [Add/Remove Programs].
The following [Add/Remove Programs] dialog shows up.

Select [CX-Programmer v3.3 Upgrade].

Click [Add/Remove].
The following dialog shows up.

Click [OK].
Uninstallation starts.
You cannot restore the former CX-Programmer or CX-Server version by this
operation. The components added by Version Upgrade Software are deleted only.
5.
After uninstallation is completed, click [Finish].
Go back to the [Add/Remove Programs Properties] dialog.
6.
If another [CX-Programmer Version Upgrade] exists, uninstall it as well as [CXProgrammer v3.3 Upgrade].
7.
Select [CX-Programmer v3.2].
8.
Click [Add/Remove].
The [Confirm File Deletion] dialog shows up.
9.
Click [OK].
Uninstallation starts.
10. After uninstallation is completed, click [OK].
Go back to the [Add/Remove Programs Properties] dialog.
11. Take the same procedure as that for [CX-Programmer v3.2] to uninstall [CX-Server]
and [CX-Server PLC Tools].
Now uninstallation is completed.

To delete all the information related to CX-Programmer and CX-Server from your
computer, you need to delete all the files and directories under the installation directory
