PSJ-M3
M3 brings revolution to gearbox III replicas. All the great function of first generation of PSJ-M2
PSJ
are kept - completely contactless switching by magnets combined with powerfull MOSFET cooled by
whole gearbox, active break fully functional in any mode set, programmable burst. Plus you will
find
ind new fire modes, correct instalation indication and many more new functions. So it corresponds
with second generation of GRIZZLY processor units.
This unit is suitable for all AEG replicas with gearbox version III.
I I. It was tested in gearboxes of
following manufacturers*:
AimTop, APS, ASG Ultimate, Cyma, DBoys, Guarder, RetroArms, SHS, SRC
*Every manufacturer inovates their products in time, so there is possibility, that our tested gearbox is different from yours.

4. PSJ--M3 installation
! PSJ-M3 gen.2 should be installed by specialists only !
Advanced knowledge of AEG replicas is crucial. Also basics in electronics and soldering
skills are needed. Never use soldering gun! Manufacturer takes no responsibility for
damaged caused by unprofessional installation!
4.1. Preparation
For PSJ-M3 installation, take gearbox out of your replica, open it and remove all of its content
(pict.1).
Pict.1: Gearbox with all of its content removed
4.2. PSJ-M3 mounting
Insert your unit into gearbox, wires first (pict.2). If it does not fit properly, you can adjust it by
rasping. After your unit is placed, check for any conductive contacts with gearbox. If there are any,
you need to insulate them! You can rasp the unit or your gearbox or you can use some insulation
material. Bottom side of unit is insulated by pre-installed insulation foil.

4.3. Selector plate
Insert prepared selector plate into position of your gearbox (pict.3). Check if the magnet is right
above the probe, when selector is set on semi. If not, adjust magnet on selector plate. If you wish
to modify your own selector plate, you need to remove part of plate where it meets cut-off lever.
Finally, stick the magnet on selector, so it is above the probe when selector is set on semi (pict.3).
Be careful about magnet polarity. For better placing, we recommend to mill a slot for the magnet.
Pict.3: Selector plate in position and its adjustments
4.4. Cut-off lever installation
Place the magnet on your cut-off lever, so in its default position, magnet almost touches the probe
(pict.4). Magnet needs to be turned by the black side to the probe, silver side to cut-of lever. It is
enough to use superglue. For correct installation, there is LED indicator on the unit (pict.5). For
that to work, connect your battery and insert the piston gear. By rotating it, cut-off lever should lift
and return and LED indicator should react by turning off and on again.
Pict.4: Cut-off lever inserted into gearbox (magnet almost touching the probe), magnet polarity
Pict.5: Cut-off lever movement, LED indication of proper function
4.5. Trigger prepartion
Insert trigger into your gearbox and check if it goes smoothly. If not, adjust your trigger. Set the
trigger to position, where you want your replica to fire and mark the center of the probe. If you
wish your trigger to be more sensitive, use rectangular magnet and place it the way, that it is in
contact with probe until trigger fully (pict.7). If not, use round magnet. Now stick the magnet onto
the trigger, be careful about magnet polarity – black side is turned towards probe (pict.6). If
needed, you can very gently bend the probe to be very close to magnet, but not to touch it.
Pict.6: Placing magnet onto the trigger, polarity marking, using different magnets
4.6. Placing heat-conductive
conductive foil
Remove protective foils from both sides of heat-conductive
heat conductive foil. Place one on each transistor
(pict.7). After that, close your gearbox and check, if it can be closed without any problem. If not,
you can remove heat-conductive
conductive foils and leave unit without them.

4.7. Replica completion
Assemble the rest of your gearbox in standard way and insert it into your replica. You can now test
your PSJ-M3 and set your prefered fire mode.

5.2. Unit programming
a) For programming, connect battery and within 5 seconds press and hold trigger for another
5 seconds. Entering is confirmed by motor vibrating twice.
b) Next, choose category from menu by pressing trigger as many times as is the number you
wish to select.
c) After that, press and hold trigger for 5 second to enter submenu. Your choise is confirmed
by motor vibrating as many times as is selected number.
d) When changing fire mode (menu 3), every trigger press is followed by motor vibrating as
many times as is selected number of fire mode. Submenu goes in cycle, after number 6
follows number 1.
e) When you are done with setting value, press and hold trigger for 5 seconds to save your
settings. Double vibration confirms successful saving and exiting programming function.
Category
(choice confirmed by vibrating in
count of selected number)
1) Burst setting
2) Battery check setting
Value
(after you select value, confirm it by holding trigger for 5s)
Number of trigger presses = number of shots on burst
(default = 3 shots)
1) Li-pol, Li-on (default)
2) Li-Fe
3) Off (recommended for NiMH, NiCD)
3) Fire mode setting
1) Semi - Burst/Auto (default)
2) Semi - Auto
3) Semi - Semi
4) Semi - Burst only
5) Burst only - Auto
6) Burst only - Burst/Auto
(selection in this submenu is confirmed by vibrating in count of
selected number)
4) Shooting delay setting
Every trigger press = +20ms
(everytime you set delay, you start from default value - for
default value, just hold trigger for 5s)
5) Reset to default values
(returns all settings to their
default values)
Hold trigger for 5s to confirm restart. If you do not wish to
restart your settings, disconnect your battery.
Example of programming: First, I connect battery and press and hold trigger for 5 seconds. Double
vibration sounds. I press trigger 3 times and then press and hold for 5s - I'm entering Fire mode
setting. I press trigger, after every press vibrations tell me which mode I'm on. I pressed trigger 5
times, which means I choose number 5 (mode Burst only - Auto). Five vibrations sound, so I press
and hold trigger for 5s. Now double vibration sounds, which means my setting is saved and I exited
programming. My replica is ready with selected setting.
5.3. Motor vibrations meaning
• 1x vibration: each time you connect battery - states, that unit is ready
• 2x vibration: entering setting mode, saving and exiting setting mode
• 3x vibration: malfunction or damage detected
• 4x vibration: low battery detected
• 6x vibration: entering manual mode
5.4. Manual mode
If your PSJ indicates damage and you are sure it is not mechanical and your replica is able to
shoot, you can access manual mode. In this mode, malfunction is ignored and you can fire on full
auto, regardless of selected fire mode.
WARNING! By poor judgement, you can cause more damage to your replica!! This mode is not
recommended for users without advanced knowledge of AEG replicas principles!
To enter manual mode after your replica indicates malfunction, just press and holt trigger for 10
seconds. Entering is confirmed by 6 vibrations.
6. Troubleshooting
Your PSJ-M3 is not working correctly? Check, where the problem could be:
6.1. Replica not working at all.
•
Check if the battery is connected and charged properly. Also check that all wires are
connected properly to all elements – motor, battery.
6.2. Replica vibrates when battery is connected, but after that it does nothing.
•
Problem in trigger setting. Check if your trigger is installed properly – magnet should
almost touch the probe when trigger is pressed. Adjust if needed. Also check the polarity of
magnet.
6.3. Selector is on „semi“, but acts like „auto“ is selected.
•
Bad selector plate installation. Check, that magnet on selector is directly above the probe
when selector is set on semi. Adjust if needed. Also check the polarity of magnet.
6.4. Replica shoots one or few shots and then vibrates 3 times.
• Cut-off
off lever not working properly. Check if the magnet is close enough to the probe. LED
indication will help you (see pict.5). Adjust if needed. Also check the polarity of magnet.
6.5. Replica not shooting, just vibrates 3 times.
•
Mechanical malfunction of your replica. Check if motor and gears are not blocked and are
working properly. If you are sure it is ok, you can access manual mode – see figure 5.4.
6.6. Replica vibrates 4 times repeatedly.
•
Your battery is discharged. Change your battery, do not forget to charge the discharged
one. If your battery is charged properly, your battery setting may be wrong – change it
according to figure 5.2.
