Maître d’enseignement et de recherche type 1 (Senior Lecturer)
At the Jules-Gonin Eye Hospital
Description of the tasks:
 The MER1 will be in charge of developing a unit of gene transfer in large animals.
 He/she will participate in projects of development of administration systems of vectors /
compounds in the retina.
 He/she will develop preclinical studies for gene therapy approaches for rare dystrophies of
the retina.
 He/she will develop objective tests for visual function assessments in animal models.
 He/she will propose new models to test the protection of the cone photoreceptors.

The following expertise is necessary:
 PhD in biology
 Experience in the establishment of a gene therapy platform (viral vector design and
production, safety issues for clinical applications)
 Excellent knowledge of the functional exploration of animal models of retinal dystrophies
 Required work experience in large animal models
 Required experience in in vivo gene therapy preclinical studies to protect photoreceptors
in models of retinal dystrophies
 Established competence to communicate in journals and conferences
 Animal experimentation authorization (Module 1 or equivalent)
