TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Performance
Description
DuPont Capstone fluoropolymer FS-87 is a water-soluble,
non-flammable and VOC-free partially fluorinated copolymer that
can be added to water-based coatings to improve cleanability
of oil-based stains. It is compatible with all types of anionic,
nonionic, cationic and amphoteric surfactants.

Advancing water and hexadecane contact angles in paints
Applications
• Improves oil repellency of low sheen interior latex
wall paints.
• Improves washability of oil-based stains such as hand prints.
• Provides good dirt pick-up resistance for exterior paints.
• To achieve maximum results, it is recommended that the
coating be reformulated to minimize oil-attracting additives and
excess surfactants.
• Use rates are highly dependent upon the specific coating
system, application, and desired outcome.
Cleanability rate on paints (greasy stain)
• Suggested use rates are 0.05–0.5% active ingredient.

information. Like any other chemical product, fluorinated
surfactants must be handled and used with care. Normal care
should be taken to avoid skin and eye contact. Before using this
product, please read the current SDS and the precautionary
statement on the product package. Follow all applicable
directions. Mix well before using. Protect from freezing.
