His complete works will be shown for the occasion, in collaboration with the Cinémathèque Française. HONG SANGSOO Born on January 25th 1961 in South Korea, Hong Sangsoo attracted a lot of attention in 1996 at the Rotterdam Film Festival with his first film “The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well”. Since then, he has written and directed ten feature films which have been shown in many world-renowned festivals like Cannes, Venice or Berlin. The characters and situations he creates seem at first to originate in improvisation and chance, but on closer examination, you discover that the director has set up his own coherent and calculated aesthetics, in complex and detailed fashion. With every film, Hong Sangsoo keeps on nurturing his own cinematic language and original visual style. He is acknowledged as one of the masters of contemporary Korean cinema.
