EXPERTISE
Since the early days of ADS the cornerstone of its business model has been value for
money, innovation and ingenuity.
The company pioneered in various technologies that are household names today. The first
concept demonstrator of the Digital Satellite Decoder was designed by ADS. The Netstar
Vehicle Tracking System also has its roots in ADS, where it was initially designed and a
prototype was manufactured.
For the past 30 years ADS has been involved in designing advanced digital command and
control systems for Military and Civilian applications. The most recent system delivered in
the Civil market was the Air Tower Visual Simulator to ATNS.
Since 1975, ADS has been the primary supplier of Command & Control Systems to the
South African Navy. These systems were designed, developed, integrated and delivered in
close co-operation with the users. ADS currently maintains and supports these systems
under contract from the SA Navy.
ADS has a track record with the SA Army, providing them with Artillery Target Engagement
systems since 1980. ADS is currently busy with the fifth-generation system contracted by
the SA Army. ADS was awarded a Tactical intelligence Systems contract from the SA Army
in March 2006.
ADS boasts an international reputation for cost-effective turnkey systems in its core
business of command and control and associated training solutions for various clients. For
more than 25 years, the company has enjoyed sustained growth from its intimate
involvement in the design, development, integration and support of sophisticated, high
technology electronics for various applications. The proud reputation ADS enjoys among its
clients in both the international and local market is founded on:
•
•
•
the excellence of its operations;
its integrity in its partnerships with its clients; and
the professional service it provides.
The company has an established quality management system and is accredited in terms of
the International Standard ISO 9001 for its design, software development, manufacture,
systems engineering, integration, installation and maintenance of electronic systems.
The company employs more than 230 personnel, most of whom are engineers, computer
scientists and technicians, with many years of experience in the software and hardware
environments.
The Simon’s Town branch office provides integration, installation expertise for the SAN PC
programme, as well as maintenance services to the South African Navy. This office
comprises 50 personnel, most of whom are engineers and technicians.
ADS currently has comprehensive in-house expertise in command & control applications,
ranging from system design and engineering, software development, system integration
and quality assurance, to through-life logistic support. As a member of the Thales Group,
one of the world’s leading electronic solution suppliers, ADS is well positioned
technologically and financially to successfully execute high technology projects in its field of
expertise.
ADS invests annually in Research and Development, ensuring that its products are on the
cutting edge of technology.
In many aspects ADS is considered, in its core business areas, to be the market leader in
South Africa. The track record of ADS in South Africa speaks for itself.
