Day Time and place title description Fri. 07. Aug 16.00-17.30, WS-Tent 4 Exiting lignite-based electricity production: a concrete example The communal energy provider for Cologne, RheinEnergie, runs a part of the heat/powerplant KölnMerkenich on lignite granules. Which activities does the local citizens' inititative „Tschö RheinEnergie“ undertake to close down the lignite plant? 20.00, main tent Welcoming assembly Sat. 08. Aug Mindfulness for breathing In this meditation, concentrating on one's breathing is used to develop mindfulness. It is useful in 8.00-8.30, combatting inner restlessness and tension. Concentrating on one's breathing has a positive effect on Chill out yurt mental and physical well-being. The meditation consists of 4 guided steps 9:30-11.00, WS-Tent 2 The conspiracy about the electicity price Why energy costs are actually increasing and who is paying for it. How the energy lobby rips us off! 9:30-11.00, WS-Tent 5 Coal mining and energy politics in Colombia: a murderous and destructive business In the north east of Columbia, „El Cerrejón“ is found, the largest open pit stone coal mine of Latin America. There, large areas of land have already been grabbed, destroyed and made useless for smallscale agricultural production. Among the main buyers of the coal are the German electricity producers E.ON, Vattenfall, RWE and EnBW. In this context at least 60.000 people have been expelled and around 2.500 have been murdered. Despite all this, there many people and organisations who fight the murderous and destructive business. 9:30-11.00, WS-Tent 3 Ecosocialist declaration – work in progress Following up on the international eco-socialist declaration from Belem, which emerged on the brink of the World Social Forum movement, we developed an eco-socialist declaration on a series of conferences which we put up for discussion in emancipatory education and want to develop further in an open process. We offer this workshop to use the declaration for its own improval in discussion. 11.30-13.00, WS-Tent 3 "Over borders" Never in history have that many people been on the flight from war and poverty. At the same time Europe seals itself off, often with deadly consequences in the mediterranean sea, whereas globalization opens up all gates for streams of goods and capital. We invite you to think „about/over borders“ - not only in a spacial or political sense. We distinguish the intimate from the strange and unknown, just to know who we are and where we belong. How does this sometimes livesaving border demarcation in a psychological sense agree with the ideal of a „culture of welcome“, a life in an „open world community“ beyond all differences? 11.30-13.00, WS-Tent 4 What the fuck is coal? The CO2, Nox, PM 2.5.... have you also skipped physics and chemistry lessons rather often back then and interactive introduction only know that coal is somehow bullshit? Then this workshop is exactly right for you. The struggle against coal isn't only resistance against energy giants, but also a fight with scientific terms. Therefore we'll approach the mystery of coal with all its abbreviations and connections in an interactive and playful manner. The workshop will mainly be in german, but its also possible for english-speaking people to participate. 16.00-17.30, WS-Tent 4 The Pulheim Manifest from 2006 16.00-17.30, WS-Tent 5 Introduction to non-violent Non-Violent Communication (NVC) offers many methods and approaches that help us to treat others communication in a more loving way, but also be able to say „no“ and retain our boundaries. The police asks you to leave. A thousand questions... Is it an offence to stay? Doesn't the police have to ask three times? Can they encircle me afterwards? Take my personal data? What was it again with compulsion? Who is uncertain about what blockades, assemblies, compulsion even mean, often loses out when confronted with the police... 16.00-17.30, WS-Tent 1 Uniting anti-coal fights in Europe - a strategy workshop Saving the climate – expand renewables – strengthen local economies – create sustainable jobs – save your home – protect nature – ensure quality of life – prehistory – civil forum Pulheim – content – effect Movements and NGOs have been fighting new coal plants in Europe since 2006 but now the focus has begun to change: we need to shut down existing coal plants and mines. This will take some strategic thinking and require movements and NGOs to cooperate more closely. The workshop will give an overview of the current coal situation in Europe. We will discuss what strategies may help to shut down as many plants and mines as possible. The workshop will be in English (or German if needed) Sun. 09. Aug Mindfulness for breathing In this meditation, concentrating on one's breathing is used to develop mindfulness. It is useful in 8.00-8.30 combatting inner restlessness and tension. We will focus on the basics of RWE corruption in general and explore the entanglements between RWE, the municipalities, the 'Landschaftsverband' and others in an interactive way. We will look at the impact of RWE corruption using the example of archeology and monument preservation in northrhine-westphalia. 9.30-17.30 WS-tent 2 Art, activism and climate change Participants will be encouraged to share and reflect upon personal and historical stories of courage, creativity and disobedience, learn to trust each other and engage in horizontal processes of organising, as well as explore tools for effective and creative strategies that are required in order to organise appropriate responses to the injustices of the climate catastrophe. We will use the Climate Games as a case study to devise creative actions. Climate Gamesare a transmedia framework, which during COP21, will use both the cyberspace and the streets of Paris (or their own locality) as a huge playfield, where teams will take action for climate justice and against the toxic sludge of green capitalism. 9.30-11.00 WS-tent 5 Awareness, Power of The awareness-group wants to create room to deal with the awareness concept of this year and to definition and preferential discuss which goals and motivations, but also which critics, concerns and doubts are associated with treatment - exchange and the power of definition and preferential treatment discussion 9.30-11.00 WS-tent 3 History is being made. A review and glance ahead on globalisationmovements 9.30-12.30 WS-tent 1 Only being right won't help Acting strategically political can make a vital difference, whether we always react or take the us... acting strategically in offensive, whether we get tired or reach our goal step by step with motivation. In this workshop the the climate movement basics of acting strategically political will be explained and tools to analyse this, like the movement- The 'intercontinental network of resistance' was created in 1994 by the Zapatistas and wants to 'recognise differences and acknowledge similarities'. This was the starting point for movements against G8, IMF and WTO. Focusing on memories will concentrate on how the movement was created, which stages it has been through, how it was broken for the first time in Genua. Further developments lay the base to look ahead at global movements. action-plan, will be presented critically, to strenghten our work from the foundation of the young climate movement. 9.30-11.30 Agricultural barrio Urban food production for dummies The participants gain an overview over various forms of gardening in an urban environment like community gardens, urban gardening, urban agriculture or urban food strategies. Experiences will be shared on which cultural/political/social impact these projects can have. 11.30-13.00 Queer-fem. Barrio Introduction to feminist theory Even feminists often only remember fragmented elements of various gender-theories. In this workshop, we first want to distinguish the different strands and according to that reflect on our own ideas together. 11.30-13.00 WS-tent 4 Sustainable climate activism Sustainable activism means learning from social movements, acting strategically political and strenghten our individual and collective resilience in order to enable long term engagement. In this workshop the concept of sustainable activism will be applied specifically to the climate movement. Strategies from the movement in 2008/2009 and the current mobilisation to Paris, and others will be considered. 14.00-19.00 Agricultural barrio Excursion to Cologne: Urban Gardening for (future) gardeners How can I start community gardening in my city? What are the possibilities and challenges in the creation of urban gardens? The combination of new impulses, transfer of knowledge and practical work at the CampusGarden will be focused on in this workshop. Important: The travel from Erkelenz to the CampusGarden will take about 1h 30min. We cannot pay for the travel costs. Meeting point: 2pm at the LaDo-tents, duration: open end/flexible – max. participants: 30 people 16.00-17.30 WS-tent 4 Divestment and the Fossil Free Movement A worldwide movement is influencing investors to take money out of oil, coal and natural gas industries. Interpreting is not only for professionals! Would you like to try simultaneous translation but need a few tips? This is where you can get them! The workshop will be in several languages. 16.00-17.30 WS-tent 3 No tree will fall – Keep the Due to the end of the breeding and nesting cycle of birds, trees are again allowed to be cut in the Hambach Forest! Hambach Forest starting on the 1st of October. However, for several years the forest has been occupied and the anti-coal movement has been growing. We want to use this moment in time and set an ambitious goal: No tree will fall! 16.00-17.30 WS-tent 1 Visualising sustainability, part 1 Sustainability is complex, abstract and therefore hard to explain. Visuals often work better, to help understand and retain ideas and information. You can easily learn and apply visualising with simple means and techniques. This can be used for documentation, to help with moderating or as a base of participatory processes. 17.15-19.00 Stage Refugee Club Impulse: Letters Home The Refugee-Club – Impulse (RCI) from Berlin is organized by refugees themselves. It's a place to feel free and let go. An interactive workshop and open for all refugees and interested people, led by members of the RCI. With theater, dance and a communal meal, talking face to face, exchanging, laughing and crying, new powers can develop. Our goal is to help people to have their right to stay here. Performance: Letters Home. There are several studies about projects with refugees. But if one wants to understand the world, one should look at it through the eyes of the oppressed. What is our idea of Germany and what does reality look like through the eyes of 'others'? In Letters Home, refugees from initial reception 'heims', the RCI, Schlesische27 and JTB work out written, photographed, filmed or acted 'Letters to Home' which report about their perception of the city. 20.00-21.15 tent 5 Presi Per Il Pil – Film by Stefano Cavallotto The Italian documentary is about the GDP dogma and proves that unlimited growth creates more problems than it solves. Duration: 65 minutes 22.00-23.30 Stage Concert: Parcours Sometimes focusing on the whole, sometimes on the details. More contemplative than exuberant, more minor than major key. Parcours performs melodic-melancholic Pop, focusing on the Song. Singer-songwriter sections contrast with wide, atmospheric sounds, at times full, at times playfull percussion beats. The melodies are catchy, but not predictably. The lyrics are between the melancholy of big cities and lightness. Mon. 10.Aug 7.30/8.009.00 chill out yurt Yoga and meditaion for early birds It is important, especially for political activists, to pause for a moment during the action, to gain strenght and to find a place of tranquility within oneself. On some mornings, we want to start the day with meditation and yoga. To start out there will be half an hour of breathing exercises (Pranayama) and afterwords an hour of yoga (Jivamuki yoga). Each sequences can be visited seperately. 9.30-? Excursion to the open cast mine We want to go towards the break off ridge of the open cast mine Garzweiler to have a glance at the pit. We will go by bike. (If you don't have one there might be the possibility to borrow one) 9.30-17.30 WS-tent 2 Art, activism and climate change Participants will be encouraged to reflect upon personal and historical stories of courage, creativity and disobedience, learn to trust each other and engage in horizontal processes of organising, as well as explore strategic tools that are required in order to organise appropriate responses to the injustices of the climate catastrophe. We will use the Climate Games as a case study. During COP21, Climate Games will use both the cyberspace and the streets of Paris (or their own locality) as a huge playfield to take action against climate change. 9.30-11.00 WS-tent 3 Enemy: humans – ecofascism, biocentrism and growth criticism The natural preservation movement is not automatically left, but has antisemitic, racist and esoteric roots. At the beginning, there was the Wilhelmic Empire, the life reform movement and 'Heimatschutz', eugenic and racial hygiene. Their ideas influenced the beginning of the modern ecological movement and the Green party in the 1970s. An essential idea is the myth of overpopulation. Instead of seing capitalism as the source of ecological destruction, people from the global south are being attacked. 9.30-11.00 WS-tent 1 To extract or not to extract – Conflicts over resources and development alternatives Conflicts over resources have always been the origin and reason for violent confrontations. The strategies of mining companies are similar in many countries. Most regions where they extract are the poorest of the country. In this workshop conflicts over resources should be brought to light and specific alternatives (of development) will be searched for. Using an example, conflicts over resources will be presented to recognise the difficulties but also the possibilities of such conflicts. 11.00-13.00 Queer-fem. Barrio 'Care-extractivism' and commons – feminist perspectives The parallel exploitation of natural resources and mainly women-performed reproduction has been discussed since the 1980s within feminist movements. We want to take up these ideas and find out how feminist and ecological fights can be connected. Using the term 'care-extractivism' (Christa Wicherich) the free scientist and activist Friederike Habermann brings together current debates around care-revolution, (neo-)extractivism and commons. 11.30-13.00 Rap Workshop In this workshop you have the opportunity to plunge into the world of rap and learn how to rap with a rapper. WS-tent 1 11.30-13.00 WS-tent 3 The 'Kangaroo Manifest' (German capitalist critical bestseller book) - What we can learn from a communist kangaroo In this discussion we want to analyse some storys of the communist kangaroo. Who or what is the ministry of productivity? What does tomato cream soup have to do with the CDU (Christian Democratic Union)? With his brilliant talent to observe and be self-ironic, Marc-Uwe Kling holds up a mirror to society without pointing his finger and thereby shows absurdities of our society and consumerism. But also the left movement with all it's contradictions is being adressed. 15.30-17.30 Agricultural barrio Climate justice through food sovereignty ay we practice agriculture plays an important role in forming our future. What will the rising number of people on earth eat and where will they live? The industrial food production is responsible for about half of the global greenhouse gas emissions. Simultaneously the peasant farming, which has been feeding the world until today, is threatened by climate change. Food sovereignty is the model of La Via Campesina which was presented to the UN in 1997. And agroecology is the peasant way to food sovereignty. These (existing) solutions are presented and discussed. 16.00- 17.30 tent 5 Glück auf! A collection – part 1 The idea is a local intervention, involving citizens from towns threatened by resettlement in the area of Erkelenz. Together we want to develop an experiment going from 'taking back growth to returning growth'. What will we create if we start a common process, combine ideas, questions and interest of all participants? Possible elements could be stories, items from the region, talking about coal, growth, economy and degrowth. 16.00-17.30 tent 3 Consensus-orientated facilitation, part 1 This 3-part workshop is about consensus-orientated facilitation - in explicitly grass-roots democratic groups but also in other contexts, for small and big groups. We will look at various tools and methods of facilitation together, discuss them and reflect on them critically, and we will also practice. Beginners and advanced participants are welcome. Sharing different approaches and experiences can help us all. It's useful however, if you are experienced with assembly situations. 16.00-17.30 WS-tent 3 Extractivism and limits of growth The capitalistic economy relies on unlimited growth. But the limits of our ecosystem are more and more prominent: rising CO2 emissions in the atmosphere, scarce resources, species extinction and massive emissions of nitrogen menace the base of human life on this planet. This presentation will analyse and balance: Which crisis can we expect? Can we predict the timing of these? Will these bring about economical crisis in capitalism? Which political answers should the ecological movement give? 16.00-19.00 First aid for everyone Together we want to work out the basics of first aid and put special focus on help needed at demonstrations or blockades. Please note that this workshop is meant to share skills and not a training course. Please bring a towel, a blanket or mat, which can rest on the floor, wear clothes which can get dirty , remove any make-up or fatty creams before the workshop, thanks :) Tent 2 16.00-17.30 WS-tent 1 Re-thinking de-growth: Islamic perspectives My contribution in the workshop will shed some light on the notion of de-growth from an Islamic perspective. Islam views the role of the individual as a value-and knowledge creator, a steward, witness, and a reformer who strives to contribute to progress and good life (Hayat Tayebah). Social equity, good governance, participation, de-growth, conservation and protection are key principles in natural resources management in Islam. Islamic development model argues for achieving prosperity without increasing the ecological footprints. 16.00-17.30 WS-tent 4 The Rhineland lignite mining area A slide show about the destruction of the earth through open cast mining, the destruction of livelihood, social disconnection of people, threats to health, stopping the energy transition, presentation of open cast mines and power plants, and continuing reduction of formal democracy 16.00-17.30 tent 2 Visualising sustainability, part 2 Sustainability is complex, abstract and therefore hard to explain. Visuals often work better, to help understand and retain ideas and information. You can easily learn and apply visualising with simple means and techniques. This can be used for documentation, to help with moderating or as a base of participatory processes. Using visuals can inspire and encourage people to participate regarding sustainability. Especially the themes of growth, treating the environment and consumerism are not easy themes. Through the 'hands on' method, participants will immediately implement what they learned for their daily engagement. 16.00-17.30 tent 5 Why we have to get rid of capitalism to stop climate change In this workshop we will use short texts to make criticism of state and capitalism understandable and explain, how state power and capitalistic exploitation are responsible for climate change. This introductory workshop will make the following workshop 'Strategies of stopping climate change – how to overcome state and capitalism and stop cimate change?' easier to understand. 18.00-19.30 „Bide Berriak: La Soberania Alimentaria en Euskal Herria“ Film/Discussion Do we know what we eat? Where does it from? How was it produced? Who produced it?... Do we know that we have the right to healthy and culturally suitable food, which has been produced in a sustainable way? Nurition is much more than just producing and consuming. It's a new form of organising in which fair relationships can be developed and where humans, dignity and solidarity can develop a new sense. We invite you to look at various experiences from the Basque region, where utopia is being realized... Production: EHNE Bizkaia & Bizi Iur, 20014 52 minutes Tue. 11.Aug 20.00-21.30 Tent 1 Beasts of the southern wild In a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, a – a film by Benh Zeitlin six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality. Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions. (english, german subs) 21.00-23.00 In front of Tent 1 Storytelling for Action Cultural exchange Together we want to create a place where we share our impressions of living with the earth and with each other. The participants can bring poems, songs, texts, fairy tales or anecdotes. We want to find out why and for what we act. Sharing stories should give us new energy for action (we will meet at the cinema and then find a place to go to) 22.00-24.00 Stage Open Stage The stage is yours. Share your voice, music, stories, your favorite move or the whole stage with whoever. The open stage wants to wipe out the separation between artists and spectators. 8.00-8.30 chill out yurt Mindfulness for breathing This meditation uses concentration on breathing to create mindfulness. It is a good remedy for inner tension and agitation. Concentrating on breathing has a positive effect on mental and physical wellbeing. The meditation consists of four guided steps. 10.00-12.00 Agricultural barrio Community Supported In the first part of this theme day "Community Supported Agriculture / Solidarische Landwirtschaft“ Agriculture (CSA) – What (CSA/SoLaWi) we would like to present the concept of CSA/SoLaWi and show how it can create a is it and how does it work? viable responsible agriculture and can thus make an essential contribution to a sustainable development. The workshop is geared towards people who would like to get to know or improve their knowledge of this concept. 11.00-12.30 WS-tent 4 The battle for global climate justice. An international demand for a global solidly united climate movement There is a simple transparent method, how global climate justice could practically be realised in an alternative UN-Process. To achieve this, first of all the industrial countries would have to acknowledge their enormous climate “debts”. In the current global system dominated by capitalism this will be hardly feasible. The aim of the workshop is to improve the participants’ judgement and their power of reason regarding climate justice, in order to build an effective climate justice movement with other international and environmentally responsible forces and states. 9.30-11.00 WS-tent 5 An information event on the Rhineland lignite mining region during the In the German Reich a new era of industrialization began in 1933. Part of this social/economic transformation was the suppression of the opposition and the imprisonment and death of millions of people in concentration camps. Plans for war, millions of Reichsmark and ultimately the beginning of National Socialism the Second World War are an important part of the German industrial history. A short insight into the creation and strengthening of the Rhineland lignite mining region and the related industrial sectors under the swastika flag. 9.30-17.30 WS-tent 3 Common economy: Our everyday life is defined by the capitalist market logic. How deeply have we assimilated this logic Introduction to a solidarity- and how is it affecting us? In this seminar we would like to find an answer to this question. We would based lifestyle like to give you an experience of what common economy means by practical exercises, trying to make common economy understandable and entertaining and motivate you to think about this concept. 9.30-17.30 WS-tent 2 Creative Sweatshop for Climate Action Fordist assembly lines are alienating, and sweatshops are even worse —but what if we just twisted them a little bit, and made them serve ourneeds? We will setup an efficient, frictionless production line to produce a MASSIVE amount of flags for the Ende Galende action. Unlike a factory, there will be no bosses, you can come and leave at any time, and the most important goal is to HAVE FUN! Everybody is welcome to learn and experiment with hands-on skills with stencils and propaganda material production! 9.30-11.00 WS-tent 4 Fracking and impacts of the production of natural gas on people and the environment Occurrence & potentials natural gas and crude oil fields, natural gas and compression of carbon dioxide, drilling, blasting (fracking), escape of natural gas and environmental pollution, hazards specific to mining, reservoir water, earthquake, groundwater, media, Nature Conservation, politics… 11.30-13.30 WS-tent 5 What's happening in Ferguson? Police violence, the prison industrial complex and institutional racism in the USA When the unarmed black teen Mike Brown got shot by a white police man in Ferguson in August of 2014, massive protests followed in all of the US, and they still continue. This picture show will shed a light on the connections within the US-american justice system, looks for historical and political reasons for governmental racism and shows pictures of a growing antiracist-movement. 11.30-13.30 WS-tent 1 The United Nations' new targets – Sustainabel Development Targets This year, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will replace the UN's Millenium Development Goals that existed until now. They are supposed to make many things better: they indeed entail ecological, social and economic approaches, were developed with broad participation by civil society and will apply to all states in the UN. But what will they achieve? Will they „sustainabilize“ german politics? Are they a good tool for the social transformation? Do they play a role in the Degrowthmovement? 15.00-17.00 Let's get practical – the In the second part of the theme day „CSA/SoLaWi“ we want to make room for people who work with Agricultural barrio Concept of CSA and its challenges the concept of CSA to exchange. Whether you garden or receive the food, there will be a couple of questions that have come up (distribution, finances, membership...). We want to talk about these things, share experiences and maybe find new solutions. Everyone, whether or not you already are involved in a CSA, is invited. 16.00-17.30 Tent 5 Glück auf! A collection, part 2 The idea is a local intervention, involving citizens from towns threatened by resettlement in the area of Erkelenz. Together we want to develop an experiment going from 'taking back growth to returning growth'. What will we create if we start a common process, combine ideas, questions and interest of all participants? Possible elements could be stories, items from the region, talking about coal, growth, economy and degrowth. 16.00-17.30 Theatre as a workshop for utopias For most people. Theater means big buildings, pompous rooms, red folding seats and curtains, aswell as a lit stage. Expensive tickets, entertainment and a little music are part of it. But theatre's purpose has from the very beginning been to tell stories and thus question society, to renegotiate it. It's a place to experiment on what rwality could look like alternatively. This workshop will introduce you to examples of political theater and discuss possibilities on how to influence political processes with artistic ones. 16.00-17.30 Tent 3 Consensus-oriented facilitation, part 2 Follow-up event of the workshop from the previous day 16.00-17.30 Tent 4 Fracking as a bridge technology? The new boom of gas and its consequences, north and south In this workshop we will work on the following questions: Can gas and fracking be a bridge into a climate-friendly future? What could actual solutions and alternatives look like? (How) can struggles against coal and fracking strengthen and support one another? 16.00-17.30 Tent 2 Karl Marx from an ecosocialist perspective No doubt: Karl Marz is again in great demand. But how helpful is the thinker from the 19th century for us today when building a sustainable society in solidarity? Bruno Kern shows limitations and the enduring significance of Karl Marx' thoughts from an eco-socialist perspective. 16.00-17.30 WS- Tent 2 Legal Aid – an introduction You're sitting on the street, a police chain in front of you. 16.00-17.30 WS- Tent 1 Mining in Mongolia – gold, copper, coal – and who is losing out „Mongolia“ is associated with vast lands, horses, nomads and hills. But the country is also rich of natural ressources. Both national and international corporations want to mine for gold, copper, coal and uranium. A CEO was happy that there was „no desert, no NGOs, no people“ there and is planning great biodiversity-offsets. On the basis of a recent visit the workshop will give insights to the problem of mining and offsetting which works like this: „We destroy a little nature here and in turn regenerate something somewhere else“. 16.00-17.30 WS- Tent 5 Solar cooking and drying – introduction to the cookers and their possible applications Different solar cookers (box cooker, parabolic cooker, scheffler-mirrors and dryers) are being introduced. With the „solar box cooker“ we can cook and bake. The parabolic cooker is better to fry or cook fast meals with lots of liquid. With focused mirror-systems we can also warm up process water for (dish)washing. 16.00-17.30 WS- Tent 4 Strategies to prevent climate change – how to overcome state and capitalism and stop climate change? If capitalism produces climate change and the state maintains capitalism, how then can we stop climate change? After a few theories we want to debate with five questions in mind. The workshop will build on the prior workshop: „Why we have to push back state and capitalism to contain climate change“. People can visit both workshops to get a good introduction into the topic, but it works on its own aswell. 20.00-21.30 Agricultural barrio The strategy of the crooked The „GardeningCoop“ in Freiburg successfully implements the concept of CSA. The members share cucumbers both responsibility for a farm close to the city and the costs and risks of agriculture. This dicumentary gives an insight to the motivation and the inner structure of the cooperative. It shows people who set something against the power of the agricultural industry in times of economic and ecological crisis. The strategy of the crooked cucumbers, a production of cine rebelde, 2013, 64 minutes. 20.00-21.30 Tent 1 Under Rich Earth – Film by Malcolm Rogge 20.00-21.30 Tent 3 COP and Beyond 22.00-24.00 Stage Concert: Minua Under Rich Earth tells the story of a unique resistance with fascinating original footage: The inhabitants of the isolated mountain region Intag in Ecuador resisted against the plans of a foreign mining company, which wanted to exploit the copper reserves underneath the unique NEBELWÄLDER. This conflict stands for many other similar sitations in Ecuador, (e.g the Yasuni national park ) and worldwide (e.g Peru) The trio consists of two guitars and a bass clarinett and experiments with complicated compositions and improvisations. Purely instrumental, Minua develops a partly sad, partly hopeful jazz in which it's worth to get lost. Wed. 12.Aug Yoga & Meditation for 7.30/8.00early birds 9.00 Chill out yurt It is important, especially for political activists, to pause for a moment during the action, to gain strenght and to find a place of tranquility within oneself. On some mornings, we want to start the day with meditation and yoga. To start out there will be half an hour of breathing exercises (Pranayama) and meditation, and afterwords an hour of asana-yoga-practice (Jivamuki yoga). Each part can be visited seperately. 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 5 Fossil Free - international grasroots movement „If it's wrong to destroy the climate, it's wrong to profit from that destruction.“ Hence, Fossil Free demands: No more money for coal, oil and gas! We have had succes with different Institutions (e.g. universities, cities, pension fonds): they have withdrawn their investments from the fossil fuel industry! Learn more about the divestment-movement, why it is growing at such a rapid pace and and how it works. Reflect together with us which possibilities there are to connect with other actors of the climate movement and where intersections and synergies exist that everyone can profit from! 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 2 Introduction to media work What do I say in an interview? How do I write a press release? How do Public Relations work, really? We want to talk about this and put things into practice (cardboard boxes can be wonderful TV cameras sometimes)! The aim of this workshop is to empower people to take part in our media work. 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 1 Legal Aid – an introduction You're sitting on the street, a police chain in front of you. 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 4 Share your Story – exchange and networking on the true costs of coal (mining) We exchange our experiences with the „true cost of coal“-banner (see workshop at 11.30) aswell as both old and new stories from this region and from all overthe world, and reflect and plan our future projects and cooperation. The meeting is open for everyone interested, if possible, bring your own stories, from the rhineland, the Lausitz coalfield or anywhere else, stories about living with nature, destruction for coal, about resistance, fear, courage and dreams. 11.00-13.30 WS-Tent 3 About the connection between landgrabbing and climate change – and what can be done about it Landgrabbing and climate change are connected mainly for two reasons: on the one hand, because it's mostly agro-industrial farming emiting lots of carbon dioxide that happens on the areas. On the other hand side, because on of the most common products on landgrabbing-areas are plants for agro fuel, which are still called the climate friendly alternative to oil and gas. In this workshop, we want to talk about transnational strategies of resistance against landgrabbing, based on the land struggles in Mali. 11.00-12.30 WS-Tent 5 Load management To decelerate climate change is one of the most pressing factors for the generation of electrical energy and its distribution. Regenerative energy generation has to be the future, but the big companies are slowing down the process and still make profits at nature's expense. In this presentation, I want to introduce you to the basic principles of energy supply and the arguments of the „big four“ german energy companies and – and make the topic easier understandable for you. 11.30-14.30 WS-Tent 2 Adbusting: creatively redesigning the world of advertisements Buy, buy, buy: ads manipulate, fuels unnecessary consumption, greenwashes a companies image, reinforces stereotypes and oftentimes is sexist. You don't want to take that? Try Adbusting: how can you change an ads meaning or even turn it aroun completely with only slight changes? In this workshop advertisements from big companies are only waiting for you to be altered with colours, scissors and glue. The two parts of the workshop build up on one another, you can hop in later, but then you'll miss the part where the techniques are explained. 11.30-13.00 WS-Tent 1 Coal-fired power plant Moorburg – a new CO2factory for Hamburg The coal-fired power plant in Hamburg Moorburg has been put into operation by Vattenfall in the beginning of the year. With emissions of 9 Mio. tons of CO2 per year it is the biggest source of CO2 in northern Germany. We want to report which global and local consequences the power plant has. Additionally, we want to trace the history of resistance, from the occupations of the construction site in 2008 to the blockade of coal supply this year. We'll discuss how resistance can go on. 11.30-13.00 WS-Tent 4 The True Cost of Coal The Beehive-collective, a network of artists in the USA has developed an impressive mosaic-poster of 5x2.5 m, which shows the formation of coal, mining in the USA and its consequences, its role in a capitalist society and also the diverse forms of resistance and alternatives. The method of "storybased education" achieves to put complex contexts into artistic stories that everyone can understand. The presentation will also entail stories about coal mining and resistance in Germany. 12.30-14.00 WS-Tent 5 „Hot air balloon of climate protection“ - a balance sheet for climate politics in Northrhine-Westphalia In the climate protection law of the state government of Northrhine-Westphalia (NRW) the socialdemocrats and the green party significantly soften the climate protection targets. Instead of actively supporting the target of reduction for all of Germany (cutting 40% till 2020), NRW pulls out and is satisfied with „at least 25%“. These of all parties stabs the climate targets of the federal government in the back – even though more than a third of Germanys climate gases can be attributed to NRW. 16.00-17.30 Tent 5 Glück auf! A collection – part 3 The idea is a local intervention, involving citizens from towns threatened by resettlement in the area of Erkelenz. Together we want to develop an experiment going from 'taking back growth to returning growth'. What will we create if we start a common process, combine ideas, questions and interest of all participants? Possible elements could be stories, items from the region, talking about coal, growth, economy and degrowth. 16.00-? Excursion Excursion to the coal mine We want to head for the edge of the mine „Garzweiler“ and peek into the giant hole. We'll go by bike, so please bring yours (if you don't have one, you might be able to borrow one). 16.00-17.30 Tent 2 „One million climate jobs“. How clean energy can generate jobs In the process of the phase-out from fossil energies, climate protectors also have to consider social issues, especially mass unemployment. The workers union of „Campaign against Climate Change“ in Britain has developed a plan on how the british economy could reduce their Cos-emissions by 80% within the next 20 years and thereby create a million jobs netto. We want to introduce this plan in Germany for the first time. 16.00-17.30 WS-Tent 4 Coal kills - body and soul Many people in the rhenish lignite mining area experience their every day as being at RWEs mercy, an occupational force, so to speak. We will comprehend the mental consequences of the subjectively experienced exposure: desperation, hopelessness, anxiety, depression, even suicidal tendencies. The phenomenons of repression and denial as unconscious measures to cope will be reviewed in detail. We'll discuss options for action against the powerlessness and also basics for a self-organised resistance. 16.00-17.30 WS-Tent 5 Living on the edge – what does it do to your psyche? How do people feel who live on the edge of a mine? How is this sutuation affecting their psyche and are they solastalgic? Solastalgia – what is that, anyway? In this workshop I want to present my research results, tell you many little anecdotes about the people affected in the Lausitz and also discuss with you, if there are similarities and differences to the people affected in the rhineland are. Of course we can also make plans about what future psychological research on lignite could look like. 16.00-17.30 WS-Tent 3 Mobility in a degrowthsociety In this workshop I will work according to the method of the solution cycle, which increasingly needs evryones participation. The solution cycl works in eight steps in which the participants are interactively involved, to make a room in whch new things can be thought: recognizing, inventing, clarify, choose, design, flow, learn and terminate. Action is based on the motto: act in a way that creates more possibilities. 16.00-17.30 Out of Action Workshop Politically active people are often confronted with repression. This doesn't only lead to obvious problems like having to pay legal costs, but also psychological stress, like traumatic stress. To find a way to go about this that is just as solidary as when dealing with the legal costs, it's important to confront the topic of trauma and act against this form of repression together. This workshop is supposed to demonstrate how important a supportive way of dealing with one another is for permanent political work. Tent 3 16.00-? Tent 2 Rally Monte Mine The vastness of the rhenish lignite mining area. So many opportunities. Small groups of climate protectors who oppose lignite mining stroll around the scenery, always on the look-out for the ideal place for a bannerdrop, an excavator-selfie or a high five with the team site security. The score and the aim of stopping catastrophic climate change always in mind. Join the Rally Monte Grube (=mine), score points for cool actions (suggestions in the kickoff meeting) and get to know the mines from their best side. In the evening exchange of experiences and looking at the scores in the camp. 16.30-19.30 WS-Tent 1 Action training In this basic training we want to get ready for the mass action of civil disobedience and beyond. On the menu: affinity groups, consensus, flowing through police chains and other practical abilities. 20.00-21.00 Stage Concert: Kontraproduktiv Free pure chordal acoustic punk!!! 20.00-22-00 Tent 1 Miners shot down – Film by Rehad Desai In August 2012, mineworkers in one of South Africa’s biggest platinum mines began a wildcat strike for better wages. Six days later the police used live ammunition to brutally suppress the strike, killing 34 and injuring many more. Using the point of view of the Marikana miners, „Miners Shot Down“ follows the strike from day one, showing the courageous but isolated fight waged by a group of lowpaid workers against the combined forces of the mining company Lonmin, the ANC government and their allies in the National Union of Mineworkers. 21.00-22.00 Stage Concert: Rowan Coupland Rowan Coupland is a writer, singer and multi instrumentalist, playing ‘thoroughly beguiling neo folk’ (Time Out London) combining soaring vocals, and astonishingly intricate guitar and harp arrangements, as well as playing clarinet, accordion, piano, organ, violin, glockenspiel and more on his masterful studio records- the last of which was named album of the year, 2012 by Brighton Music Blog. 22.00-? Stage Concert: Windspiel The band from Eberswalde, loaded with energy, welcomes you with folk rythms to dance to irish and spanish melodies. Through their light-footed play with the singing violin, they create their own magical atmosphere, which invites to dream. All around sustainable folk! Thu. 13.Aug Mindfulness for breathing This meditation uses concentration on breathing to create mindfulness. It is a good remedy for inner 8.00-8.30 tension and agitation. Concentrating on breathing has a positive effect on mental and physical Chill out yurt wellbeing. The meditation consists of four guided steps. 9.30-13.30 WS-Tent 1 Action training In this basic training we want to get ready for the mass action of civil disobedience and beyond. On the menu: affinity groups, consensus, flowing through police chains and other practical abilities. 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 4 Current political debate about the climate levy – trying an explanation 9.30-13.30 WS-Tent 3 Don't even think about it The lecturer is an expert on climate change communication with a world-wide reputation. His talk will address the following issues: Why do so few people act in the face of the massive threat of climate change, although the consequences have been communicated from more than 97% of the scientists for more than 20 years? 9.30-11.00 Tent 2 Eco-socialism – exit strategy from the environmental crisis Nigeria is an example of the destruction of people’s livelihood: nearly complete dependance from oil, agro-industry, destruction of the possibilities for subsistence farming and outraging social injustice. The intrinsic rules of capital accumulation prevent an effective fight against environmental destruction and climate change. These damages in a country so rich in resources can only be met with a mode of production that gives priority to the “Gebrauchswert” (utility value/practical value). We will discuss how such a societal order can look like. 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 5 Uranium transports in your This workshop will show the background of these transports and give a short overview about the backyard – facts and situation of the current resistance in Germany and France. Options for taking action are discussed. resistance Whether resistance against coal power, nuclear power, fracking, airport expansions and other superfluous megaprojects (to name only a few), we have to unite these fights for a better climate and a different world. 11.30-13.00 Queer-fem. Barrio The mixture is important – successful strategies of resistance. Example: agroindustrial genetic engineering Taking the protests against genetically modified plants as an example, we ask: What are characteristics of successful resistance campaigns? What can we learn from it for other campaigns and actions – such as for the resistance against nuclear and coal power, Nazis or austerity, military or repression. Photos, short films and selected anecdotes make this sound-image-show to a vivid memory of past protest years. Afterwards we some thesis for a more determined protest culture are presented, also to other topics. At the end, there is space for debate, development of your own ideas and concrete plans. 15.00-16.30 WS-Tent 4 There won’t be climate justice without gender justice! Climate justice and gender justice are connected with other and are fundamentally similar issues: to tackle them at the root of the problem implies structural transformations; it is necessary to question the relations of dominance and the prevailing economic systems and transformative processes. How inclusive are the practices that we use? How can we support participation in democratic processes? What can emancipatory practices look like? This workshop will explore how climate and gender justice are interconnected. 16.00-17.30 Tent 5 Glück auf! A Collection – Part 4 The idea is a local intervention, involving citizens from towns threatened by resettlement in the area of Erkelenz. Together we want to develop an experiment going from 'taking back growth to returning growth'. What will we create if we start a common process, combine ideas, questions and interest of all participants? Possible elements could be stories, items from the region, talking about coal, growth, economy and degrowth. 16.00-17.30 Tent 2 Strengthening and connecting the climate movement During this meeting, new ideas for projects and regional networks will be developed to make the climate movement stronger and more effective. 16.00-17.30 WS-Tent 3 Commons and climate change According to the Commons, production runs in respect to the needs of people and with consideration to the existing resources. But is this enough to counteract climate change? In this workshop, I would like to explore some questions with you, such as: Where are points of connection between climate activists and Commons activists? How can the Commons contribute to slowing down climate change? Is climate a Commons? Or the atmosphere? Or CO2? 16.00-19.00 WS-Tent 2 First aid for everyone Together we want to work out the basics of first aid and put special focus on help needed at demonstrations or blockades. Please note that this workshop is meant to share skills and not a training course. Transition Theater We want to protect the climate and be active for climate justice. At the same time, we live in a society in which messages of growth, consumption and self-optimization are being preached at all times. How do these messages affect us? How do they unconsciously have an impact on our actions? On this interactive theatre evening we want to address these questions and search for ways in which we can change our relations to these messages to continuously be active in the fight for climate justice. No prior experience in acting or theatre is required and any participation is completely voluntary! 21.30-23.00 Stage Concert: Sonido Rebelde Sonido Rebelde is a colourful mix of reggae, rumba, ska, punk, and female rap. On some mornings, we want to start the day with meditation and yoga. To start out there will be half an hour of breathing exercises (Pranayama) and meditation, and afterwords an hour of asana-yoga-practice (Jivamuki yoga). Each part can be visited seperately. 9.30.13.00 WS-Tent 2 Action training In this basic training we want to get ready for the mass action of civil disobedience and beyond. On the menu: affinity groups, consensus, flowing through police chains and other practical abilities. 9.30-13.30 Fossil Free Storytelling Active members of Fossil Free Germany and from the European network meet for storytelling. The movement grows and celebrates several successes – which stories of local campaign groups lie behind it? People who are newly interested in divestment are welcome to get to know us in this way and listen to amazing as well as failed actions from which we can all learn. There will be a short introduction to divestment. Whoever wants to know more about our strategy is welcome take part in the workshop on Wednesday morning, too. WS-Tent 1 9.30-11.00 WS-Tent 3 Still not loving the Cops The way in which climate change, its causes and consequences are being presented in the currently dominating political discourse fall far too short. Similarly, suggested solutions are problematic because, in both cases, the fundamental problem – capitalism – is not addressed. In our workshop we want to challenge the existing market- and technology-based solutions from above which are often presented as being without alternative. We will do this by contrasting them with some ideas for approaches of a socio-ecological transformation from below. Prior to the climate summit in Paris in December 2015, we would like to outline various shortcomings, and thereby contribute to a discussion about adequate strategies of political intervention from a socio-ecological perspective among climate activists. In doing so, we also want to reason why the Paris climate summit should not represent the focus of political actions. 10.00-12.30 Main Tent Special moments, results On this morning there will be space to present results of courses and workshops. We will share our and question marks: observations, exchange and reflect about how to move further towards climate justice and degrowth. Looking back at the week and planning for the future
