Datsuns Northwest Club Meeting Wednesday 7:00pm January 16
Datsuns Northwest Club Meeting Wednesday 7:00pm January 16, 2008 Wilsonville Nissan Call to order: The meeting was called to order by President Dave Bothwell. Guests: We welcomed returning guest Alan Zellmer who is now a new member of DatsunNW! Welcome Alan! Old business: We still need a parking committee for the Canby show. We have a couple of volunteers to help out, but we still need someone to take the reins. We did lock down most of the other committees at the Saturday meeting. I'll try to get a list out in the next couple of days about who's doing what and where we still have openings. New business: Dave B. talked about having club ID's made. Everyone agreed that 1/2" lanyards would be best. There will be a swap meet at the Canby fairgrounds on Jan 20th. It is not an import or Datsun swap meet, but if you have non-Datsun projects, mark your calendar. The club will be buying new clickers for the Canby event. New radios will be researched and then discussed at the next event. The Roadster Show is still in the works and we are still looking for a few more vehicles to display in the club corral. The Z club has 5 entries. We have 2, maybe 3 so far. The question was raised about whether the club should pay $300 for all the members to be MHRC members. It was decided by vote that the club will pay for 5 memberships at $15 each ($75 total) so that we can maintain a club status with the council. That allows DatsunsNW to have the club corral, but only the 5 members are actually part of MHRC. There will also be a pre-show dinner at the Parker House on Feb 23rd at 7pm. Not positive on the time, so if you would like to attend, please double check that first. They will be looking for volunteers to help at the show. Those that do volunteer will be given free admission that day, MHRC club logo wear will be available at a discount at the dinner. Dave Carter volunteered to be the alternate club rep in the event that Rueul and Elena can't attend a MHRC meeting. Doug V. announced that the server hosting for out club's website has been paid for. The club will be taking a 1/2 page ad out in the new Japanese Nostalgic Car magazine. The ad will be $500 and will be in the April issue immediately following the 240/510 article. The ad will be promoting the Canby event. Nissan Sport magazine will be contacted with the Canby show dates. Last year they offered to cover the next show. If that offer is still valid, we should have magazine coverage this year. Jordan B. wrote the article that was published about last years event. If the magazine doesn't send someone, then maybe he'll be willing to do it again. The photo day at the antique gas station was touched upon again. That just might wait until nice weather is a bit more predictable. It was also brought up that we haven't done a Polar Bear cruise yet this year, so let us know if you'd like us to put one together in Feb. Derrick Garner is our connection to Heritage High school. We are helping sponsor their autocross car, which is an auto shop school project. They have purchased a Datsun 510 for the autocross challenge, competing against 2 other high schools in the area. When they get needs lined up, we will help them in some way. Other business: The next club meeting is February 20th, 2008
