INSTALLATION GUIDE
About the Communications Module
The L5000-RS422 communications module is intended to provide connection between compatible
Safewatch QuickConnect Touch or Honeywell control panels and the ADT Pulse Interactive Solutions
Pulse Gateway.
NOTE: ADT’s internet service not evaluated by ETL.

The module connects directly to the control panel and is powered via the control panel’s connection.
It is connected to the Pulse Gateway via the provided cable and the Pulse Gateway RS422 terminals.
Mounting the Module
Mount the module in the control panel as shown in Figure 1. Ensure that module’s receptacle is securely
seated on the control’s edge connector.

Wiring the Module
1. Plug the connector end of the provided 5-wire cable into the receptacle on the L5000-RS422
Communications Module as shown in Figure 1.
2. Route the cable as shown on Figure 2 and secure with tie wraps.
3. Connect the four TX and RX wires of the provided 5-wire cable to the appropriate RS422 TX and RX
terminals on the Pulse Gateway as shown in Figure 2.
Note: If additional wire is required in order to connect the L5000-RS422 module to the Pulse Gateway, do
not exceed 200 ft maximum using 24AWG wire.

Programming Notes
Programming associated with the L5000-RS422 module is accomplished as part of the Control Panel
Programming. Refer to the Control Panel Installation and Setup Guide for additional information.
1. The Remote Access Serial option must be set to “Enabled”.
2. The Multi Mode Serial option must be set to “Enhanced Reports”.
