Modbus TCP/IP 5102-MCM-ASCII3 The practical advantages of using gateways include the ability to get information from other locations in the facility or supply chain, feed other systems with real-time data from manufacturing, and make manufacturing information more relevant and efficient. Gateways also connect older, serial-based communications or analog signals with newer networks. EtherNet/IP 5208-MNET-HART Many times, multiple networks are used in one facility, making it difficult to gather data from certain devices. ProSoft Technology’s stand-alone, DIN-rail mounted industrial gateways provide a means to extract or import data from devices using one protocol to another. These gateways are especially useful when there is no possibility of using a protocol interface module in a processor rack due to network or space constraints. For instance, with an EtherNet/IP-to-Modbus communication gateway, status information can be obtained from a Modbus network with values representing messages to a device, messages transmitted, and the last error code received. This can be mapped to any location in the module’s memory and shared with EtherNet/IP network devices. This allows the EtherNet/ IP network to monitor communications on the Modbus network for fail-safe considerations, and since this is all configurable, users may decide what information to share between networks. Communicating from the HART With plants located throughout North America, Valspar is the sixth largest paint and coatings company globally. For the integration, measurement, and control of their plants, Valspar trusts Meter Maintenance & Controls Inc. (MMCI). In each plant, MMCI uses 30-50 HART flow meters for the batching process, a ControlLogix® system with an RSView® Human Machine Interface (HMI) for monitoring and maintenance, and RS-SQL for quality control. The challenge was in moving data from the meters to the controller. Royal Wholesale Electric recommended ProSoft’s EtherNet/IP-toHART gateway. “I’d been using ProSoft products for years…possibly since we first started as a company so it was a no brainer,” comments Terry Davis, President of MMCI. “Now we use the gateway in all the plants.” Benefits include cost savings because plant operators do not require control system training to view critical information; and quality, because the measurement system’s accuracy is nearly flawless. 12 DF1 Master/Slave to HART Analog (4 channel) DF1 Master/Slave to HART Analog (8 channel) Modbus TCP/IP to HART Analog (4 channel) Modbus TCP/IP to HART Analog (8 channel) EtherNet/IP to HART Analog (8 channel) EtherNet/IP to HART Analog (4 channel) SCADA or OPC Application Switch DH-485 to HART Multidrop (4 channel) EtherNet/IP to HART Multidrop (4 channel) DF1 Master/Slave to HART Multidrop (4 channel) HART EtherNet/IP Analog 5228-DFNT-HART Modbus Master/Slave to HART Multidrop (4 channel) Modbus TCP/IP Up to 8 Field Devices HART Multi-drop 5227-MNET-HART Modbus Plus to HART Multidrop (8 channel) Modbus TCP/IP to HART Multidrop (4 channel) Up to 8 Field Devices PROFIBUS DP Slave to HART Multidrop (8 channel) HART Analog Features •This gateway creates a powerful and economic connection between HART analog field instruments and Modbus TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP or DF1 networks •Independent HART channels •Tertiary field instrument data via Analog HART •Quick data refresh •Flexibility for application design •4 (5X08) or 8 (5X28) channel HART HART Multi-Drop Features •Supports up to 15 devices on each HART channel •Available with 4 (5X07) or 8 (5X27) channel implementations •Perfect for chemical and refining operations, gas and liquid distribution system for remote offshore monitoring stations Connectivity Part Numbers HART Analog to: DF1 Modbus TCP/IP EtherNet/IP 5108-DFCM-HART 5128-DFCM-HART 5208-MNET-HART 5228-MNET-HART 5208-DFNT-HART 5228-DFNT-HART HART Multidrop to: DF1 DH-485 EtherNet/IP Modbus Modbus Plus Modbus TCP/IP PROFIBUS DP Slave DF1 DH-485 Modbus 5107-DFCM-HART 5107-DH485-HART 5207-DFNT-HART 5107-MCM-HART 5307-MBP-HART 5207-MNET-HART 5507-PDPS-HART 5127-DFCM-HART 5127-DH485-HART 5127-MCM-HART www.prosoft-technology.com Industrial Stand-alone Gateways Application Development Gateways GREAT FOR: Bridging communication between your custom serial and Ethernet protocols. By using ProSoft’s Modbus Communications Module, we were able to directly connect AllenBradley’s SLC with Atlas Copco’s compressors using the Modbus protocol. With central control, it was possible to stagger the actions (start, load, unload or stop) of every compressor according to the charge situation.” Application Developement Module Ethernet ‘C’ Programmable ‘C’ Programmable to Serial Protocols Features ‘C’ Programmable to Ethernet Protocols Modbus RTU or Third Party Device •Four individually configurable serial ports •Allows software developers to access Serial/ Ethernet ports without needing detailed knowledge of the module’s hardware design •API library functions are specified using the ‘C’ programming language syntax INACTIVE PORT •Operating system: General Software DOS 6-XL 5102-ADM4 •Using the provided API, the module can be used as a bridge or a port splitter •Modbus modules allow the development and running of ‘C’ applications to communicate with Modbus Master/Slave networks and devices Chen Zong Liang General Manager of Shanghai Yuandong, SI for Shanghai General Motors Bar Code Reader Other Devices Scales Connectivity Part Numbers ‘C’Programmability: Serial Ethernet 5102-ADM4 5201-ADMNET ‘C’ Programmability to Modbus: Serial 5102-MCM4-ADM4 Ethernet 5201-ADMNET-MCM [Did You Know?] A major theme park in Orlando, Florida uses ProSoft Technology’s ‘C’ programmable modules to pull information from bar code scanners on their monorail system. www.prosoft-technology.com 13 Industrial Stand-alone Gateways ASCII Gateways GREAT FOR: Communication from ASCIIbased implementations to other networks. Wireless connectivity can open up a new realm of opportunities to improve operational efficiencies in a cost-effective manner. Remote Locations Replacing festoon cables and slip rings with wireless technology can increase your productivity, decrease your downtime and increase your profits. Remote locations are probably the most expensive applications in which to run cable. Because the cost is so prohibitive, in the past many companies have opted to gather needed data from remote sites by sending a technician or engineer out to the site on a regular basis. No more. Now it is possible to install radios for a fraction of the cost of wire or paying an engineer to drive long distances to read a meter. FHSS: Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum: Regularly “hops” to different frequencies making it difficult to jam and the signals are not detectable by Wi-Fi devices. Encryption of the data with strong methods such as the Advanced Encryption System (AES) provides a second layer of protection. According to The Online Industrial Ethernet Book, “While it is true that one could roam the streets, find an unprotected access point and attach to a wireless network, it is far different from actually gaining access to a company’s network resources. To date, we are not aware of a single reported ‘break in’ and theft of confidential files over a wireless access point with the proper security enabled.” Adverse Terrain and Weather With the advent of industrial radios, companies can now choose to install wireless in less than perfect conditions. Freezing temperatures, desert sand, salt water and rain are no match for hazardous rated and waterproof radios. Mobile or Moving Devices Wireless is the most cost-effective way to communicate in remote applications. Anyone who has ever worked with moving equipment in a plant knows how many times production is shut down due to damaged festoon cables and the need to maintain slip rings. Replacing festoon cables and slip rings with wireless technology can increase your productivity, decrease your downtime and increase your profits. Security One of the most common objections engineers have to going wireless is the concern over security. “Will anyone be able to connect to my network? Is my data accessible to anyone close to my site? Will my production data be protected against hackers?” Security has come a long way since the first industrial wireless applications: For applications with adverse terrain, weather, or hazardous location, ProSoft has the radios to fit your needs. 18 WPA2: Wi-Fi Protected Access with full implementation of the IEEE 802.11i security framework including AES-CCMP encryption and 802.1x/EAP authentication. www.prosoft-technology.com Wireless Technology Why Choose ProSoft Technology® Wireless? PlantMesh is a quick and cost-effective way to migrate legacy devices to new control platforms such as Industrial Ethernet. PlantMesh is a technology providing users with more flexibility than ever before in wireless solutions. With PlantMesh, users can connect various field devices using different networks or protocols and share data between these devices “over-the-air.” EtherNet/IP EtherNet/IP Gateway 6201-WA-DFNT Omron Controller PLC-5® SLC™ 500 with MVI71-DFNT with MVI46-DFNT PWP makes PlantMesh possible ProSoft Technology has developed an efficient and powerful wireless protocol called ProSoft Wireless Protocol or PWP. With PWP, network protocols are converted into common “radio packets” allowing messages to be transmitted to an 802.11 radio connected to the network. Data in PWP packets are in a binary format which augments the security of the wireless communications. PWP is a producerconsumer protocol that enables peer-to-peer data exchange between devices using one or more supported protocols with a PWP enabled wireless product at each device. [Tech Tip] Maximize Bandwidth and Minimize Data Loss EtherNet/IP uses explicit and implicit messaging. This presents a challenge for many wireless devices since implicit messaging involves the multicasting of data. Multicasting can translate into message re-broadcasting, which consumes bandwidth and increases the risk of collisions or dropped packets. 802.11abg Industrial Hotspot radios, however, use Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) querying to enable wireless multicast filtering. This optimizes bandwidth because radios can unicast messages from producers to one or more consumers, and if an acknowledgement is not received, the radio transparently repeats the transmission avoiding loss of data. Wireless is particularly popular in the SCADA industries such as Oil & Gas, Water/ Wastewater and Electrical Utilities due to their unique remote communication needs. ProSoft Technology has extensive experience in these industries, as well as many others with extensive SCADA applications including mining and pulp and paper. Wireless also provides great benefits in factory automation and process control. Spread spectrum wireless is an excellent communication method for long range SCADA communications to remote well heads, pipelines, compressor stations and offshore oil platforms. The use of wireless provides cost effective, real time communications to link PLC and DCS systems to remote sites and avoids the reoccurring costs of phone line service. Processes such as valve actuation, pressure monitoring, flow monitoring for royalty accounting and tank level monitoring may be done remotely and controlled automatically. Oil and Gas Wireless is also a great solution for automation system communications within tank farms, refineries and petrochemical plants as a cost and time saving alternative to installing wire and fiber optic cables. As the demand and cost of energy rises, energy companies are investing billions in exploration and production to meet the world’s energy needs. Automation technologies play a key role in making oil and gas extraction economical. Wireless also plays a key role as more remote locations are explored. Oil and gas production, refinery and distribution systems benefit greatly from spread spectrum technologies as part of PLC, DCS and SCADA communication systems. Wireless benefits include communications to very remote sites devoid of phone/cellular service, cost-effective reliable alternative to leasing phone lines, significant cable installation cost savings at tank farms and refineries, faster installation and dismantling of drilling rigs and quicker data collection and monitoring tools for mobile workers. In addition to solutions for SCADA and PLC/DCS automation, wireless may also be used for remote video surveillance for security and process control monitoring as well as voice over IP (VOIP). LACT Flow Reporting Oil and gas installations often have special regulations for electrical equipment (including wireless hardware) to ensure that explosive gasses are not accidentally ignited in hazardous classified zones. Class I, Div 2 and ATEX Zone 2 certifications permit wireless modems to be installed in areas where explosive gasses may be present, but are not under normal circumstances. Wireless equipment with proper certifications may be installed in these areas without restriction to the wireless modem or antenna location. Production Wellheads RTU Wireless can also be used on drilling rigs for drive controls to reduce installation and shut-down time when the rig is preparing to move to the next location, while also offering a more reliable communication link immune to mechanical wear and tear. Wireless is an integral strategy for this industry. Similar to the oil and gas industry, water and wastewater systems often require long range communication to remote pump stations, lift stations, flow meters, reservoirs and storage tanks. This is an excellent fit for wireless technology as it further reduces the water authority’s monthly operating costs by eliminating phone line charges. Initial investment into wireless communications will return considerable costs savings over the years just in phone line cost savings. Additionally, phone line service may be poor to remote sites. Private wireless systems offer not only costs savings, but are often more reliable than phone lines. Plant engineers do not need to wait for phone company service if a line goes down. The use of licensed RF systems (VHF/UHF) was popular for water districts for many years. However licensed channel availability is diminished in many regions and high speed applications (such as Ethernet) require higher speeds than licensed systems can provide. This has led to the popularity of license-free, spread spectrum wireless communications where higher speed Ethernet applications are supported. Remote pump stations, lift stations and tanks may all be linked back to the treatment plant’s PLC network. Because water tanks are usually located at the highest peaks, they make excellent repeater locations for achieving unobstructed line-ofsight to the remote pumps. Wireless remote SCADA systems that are Ethernet based can also easily support operator interfaces (HMIs) at remote locations. Remote video for security is also supported with high speed wireless Ethernet systems. Water treatment plants may also use wireless technology as a way to communicate through the plant without cable installation and trenching. Wireless may be used in filtration systems and clarifier tanks for linking controls mounted on rake arms avoiding mechanical wear of slip rings used for data transmission. Finally, wireless is an excellent way for maintenance workers and operators to access information anywhere at the treatment plant. Workers using portable laptop computers or small PDAs may connect to the plant network without needing an Ethernet port outlet. Wireless network access provides increased productivity and reduces time to repair. Industries such as consumer goods manufacturing, metals, automotive, pharmaceutical, food processing, packaging and material handling can benefit greatly from wireless technologies. Tangible benefits include cost reduction, more reliable control/processing systems and improved worker productivity. Wireless technologies may be used to build a plant-wide wireless network connecting mobile workers to the production and/or business network. Maintenance workers can now access important data (such as a PLC program or recipe) while observing a malfunctioning device or inefficient process. Inrack wireless modules connect remote PLCs to the wireless network, expanding the devices available on the wireless network. Wireless is also an excellent solution for communication to controllers on moving platforms for material handling systems such as overhead cranes, automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), transfer cars, turntables and conveyor systems. Wireless provides high speed communications (such as for Ethernet) while not suffering from mechanical wear and tear as wiring www.prosoft-technology.com harnesses, festooning, inductive rails and slip rings commonly do. Wireless is a great strategy to improve production by eliminating downtime. Wireless is also a very cost-effective SCADA communication solution. Wireless may be used for controls at water pumping stations, power monitoring, machine condition monitoring and HMI displays. Video is becoming an important part of industrial systems both for remote surveillance (security) and remote process monitoring. High speed wireless technologies offer a way to cost-effectively add video information to the control and monitoring system. Finally, wireless technologies have expanded beyond traditional serial and Ethernet networks, and to other industrial networks and protocols. Wireless solutions are now available for PROFIBUS and HART permitting remote sensors and actuators to be connected to the main control system (PLC or DCS) without the need for hardwiring. 35 36 5601-RIO-DNPS 5601-RIO-DNPM DNP 3.0 Slave DNP 3.0 Master 5126-DFCM-DEM 5102-DH485-101S 5106-DH485-DEM 5127-DH485-HART 5127-DFCM-HART 5106-DFCM-DEM 5107-DH485-HART 5107-DFCM-HART 5105-ASCII-PDPS 6202-WA-DFNT-DFCM3 5105-DFCM-PDPS 5105-DH485-PDPS 5104-DH485-PDPM 5104-DNPM-PDPM 5201-MNET-DNPM 5301-MBP-DNPM 5105-DNPS-PDPS 5104-DNPS-PDPM 5201-MNET-DNPS 5301-MBP-DNPS 5205-DNPSNET-PDPS 5204-DNPSNET-PDPM 5201-MNET-DNPSNET 5303-MBP-DNPSNET 5205-DFNT-PDPS 5204-DFNT-PDPM 5201-MNET-DFNT 5303-MBP-DFNT 6202-WA-DFNTDFCM3 5605-RIO-PDPS PROFIBUS DP Slave 5104-DFCM-PDPM 5201-DH485-MNET 5301-MBP-DH485 5204-DFNT-PDPMV1 5604-RIO-PDPM PROFIBUS DP Master 5301-MBP-DFCM 5302-MBP-DFCM4 5201-MNET-DFCM 5202-MNET-DFCM4 5201-DFNT-MCM 5202-DFNT-MCM4 5201-DFNT-104S ProSoft Wireless Protocol 5210-MNET-RIO Modbus TCP/IP 5301-MBP-ASCII 5302-MBP-ASCII4 5201-MNET-ASCII 5202-MNET-ASCII4 5201-DNPSNET-MCM 5202-DNPSNET-MCM4 5201-DFNT-103M 5201-DFNT-101S 5206-DFNT-DEM 5207-DFNT-HART PROFIBUS DPV1 5310-RIO-MBP 5102-DH485-MCM3 5201-104S-DH485 Modbus Plus 5102-DNPS-MCM3 5201-DFNT-GRCM 5202-DFNT-GRCM4 5201-DFNT-DNPSNET 5201-DFNT-DNPM 5201-DFNT-DNPS 5201-DFNT-DH485 5201-DFNT-CLVM 5202-DFNT-CLVM4 5201-DFNT-DFCM 5202-DFNT-DFCM4 5201-DFNT-ASCII 5202-DFNT-ASCII4 5201-DFNT-BSCH 5202-DFNT-BSCH4 5210-DFNT-RIO EtherNet/IP 5228-DFNT-HART 5201-DNPSNET-103M 5201-DFNT-DNPSNET 5201-DNPSNET-DH485 5201-DNPSNET-DFCM 5202-DNSPNET-DFCM4 5210-DNPSNET-RIO DNP over Ethernet 5128-DFCM-HART 5102-DNPM-MCM3 5201-DFNT-DNPS 5102-DH485-DNPS 5102-DNPS-DFCM3 5601-RIO-DNPS DNP 3.0 Slave 5208-DFNT-HART 5210-104S-RIO 5601-RIO-MCM 5602-RIO-MCM4 5201-DFNT-DNPM 5102-DH485-DNPM 5102-DNPM-DFCM 5102-DNPM-DFCM3 5601-RIO-DNPM DNP 3.0 Master Red part numbers indicate a wireless gateway. 5108-DFCM-HART 5201-DFNT-DH485 5201-DH485DNPSNET 5201-DFNT-DFCM 5202-DFNT-DFCM4 6202-WA-DFNT-DFCM3 5102-DH485-DNPM 5102-DNPM-DFCM3 5102-DH485-DNPS 5102-DH485-DFCM3 5201-DNPSNET-DFCM 5202-DNPSNET-DFCM4 5102-DNPS-DFCM3 5102-DH485-DFCM3 5102-DFS3-DFM 5102-MCM4-DFCM4 5102-DH485-ASCII3 5601-RIO-DH485 DH-485 5102-DH485-103M 5201-ADMNET-MCM 5201-ADMNET 5202-ADMNET4 5102-DFCM-ASCII3 5601-RIO-DFCM 5602-RIO-DFCM4 DF1 Master/Slave Protocol/Application ‘C’ Programmable with Ethernet 5201-104S-DFCM 5202-104S-DFCM4 5102-MCM4-ADM4 5102-ADM4 ‘C’ Programmable 5102-DFCM-103M 5201-DFNT-CLVM 5202-DFNT-CLVM4 CLV 5601-RIO-103M 5201-MNET-BSCH 5202-MNET-BSCH4 5201-DFNT-BSCH 5202-DFNT-BSCH4 Bosch 5102-DFCM3-101S 5102-MCM-ASCII3 5201-DFNT-ASCII 5202-DFNT-ASCII4 5102-DH485-ASCII3 5102-DFCM-ASCII3 5601-RIO-ASCII 5602-RIO-ASCII4 ASCII 5601-RIO-101S 5606-RIO-DEM 5607-RIO-HART 5210-DFNT-RIO Modbus Master/Slave HART Analog (4 channels) HART Analog (8 channels) HART Multi-drop (4 channels) HART Multi-drop (8 channels) Honeywell DE Master (8 channels) Honeywell DE Master (16 channels) IEC 60870-5-101 Slave IEC 60870-5-103 Master IEC 60870-5-104 Server Gareco EtherNet/IP Ethernet Global Data 5210-DNPSNET-RIO 5601-RIO-DH485 DH-485 DNP over Ethernet 5601-RIO-DFCM 5602-RIO-DFCM4 5601-RIO-ASCII 5602-RIO-ASCII4 A-B Remote I/O DF1 Master/Slave ‘C’ Programmable with Ethernet Command Language Master ‘C’ Programmable Bosch ASCII A-B Remote I/O Application/ Protocol 3 easy steps to find your ProLinx solution 1)Find your specific network protocol from the top row of the chart. 2)Follow that column down until it intersects with the required application protocol you wish to connect to. 3)For pricing, distributor location or additional product information, datasheets and user manuals, please visit www.prosoft-technology.com. ProSoft Wireless Designer (PWD) simplifies the task of planning and specifying your ProSoft Wireless network. The user-friendly, wizard-based interface creates a visual layout of your radios and sites, and it generates a complete Bill of Materials including radios, cables, lightning protection, connectors, and antennas. When creating the site layout, PWD is able to validate wireless link feasibility based on path length and recommended accessories, and is able to predict signal strength based on distance, local regulations and hardware choices. If the predicted signal quality is not as high as desired, the wireless accessories for each site can be modified (for example selecting higher gain antennas) or perhaps a repeater is added to make the wireless path feasible. The database of accessories includes connector types, RF gain or loss of accessory, and other information. Warnings are made if accessories are selected that will not connect or do not match the frequency of the radio. Design a Wireless Network The PWD expert system asks overall network design questions to help select radio and automatically selected accessories including: •Indoor or outdoor application •Type of connectivity required (serial or Ethernet) •Throughput requirement •Installation country (for power and frequency settings) Once the general network information is entered, each wireless site is added. If the GPS coordinates of the sites are known, they can be entered to calculate the length of the wireless path between sites. Then the sites are linked together as desired and PWD calculates the estimated signal quality based on a clear wireless path (free-space). 40 Generate List of Wireless Components Once all of the sites and paths are entered and accessory selection is final, ProSoft Wireless Designer provides a complete list of radios and accessories as well as a list for each site. The parts list can be exported as an Excel spreadsheet for quote or the PWD project file can be sent to ProSoft Technology for review. www.prosoft-technology.com What’s inside: Up Front Asia Pacific Malaysia Office Phone: +603.7724.2080 Fax: +603.7724.2090 [email protected] Languages spoken: Chinese, English, Japanese Who We Are............................................................................................1 Regional Offices.......................................................................................2 Tech Support............................................................................................3 Industrial Stand-alone Gateways Gateway Connectivity Architecture.............................................................4 EtherNet/IP Gateways...............................................................................6 Modbus TCP/IP Gateways..........................................................................7 Modbus Gateways.....................................................................................8 Modbus Plus Gateways..............................................................................9 PROFIBUS DP Master Gateways................................................................ 10 PROFIBUS DP Slave Gateways................................................................... 11 HART Gateways Gateways....................................................................... 12 ‘C’ Programmable Gateways.................................................................... 13 ASCII Gateways...................................................................................... 14 IEC 60870-5 and DNP 3.0 Gateways............................................................ 15 DF1 Gateways......................................................................................... 16 CC-Link Gateway.................................................................................... 17 Wireless Technology Why Wireless......................................................................................... 18 Why Choose ProSoft Technology Wireless................................................. 19 Wireless Architecture.............................................................................. 20 Industrial Frequency Hopping Serial.......................................................... 22 Industrial Frequency Hopping Ethernet...................................................... 23 Industrial HotSpot 802.11abg Wireless Acces Point/Repeater/Client.............. 24 Water/Dust Tight Industrial HotSpot......................................................... 25 Intelligent Cellular Technology................................................................. 26 Plant Mesh Technology: Enjoy Flexible Wireless Solutions............................ 28 Wireless Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP and Hart Multi-drop Gateways................. 30 Wireless PROFIBUS DPV1 Master / PROFIBUS DPV0 Slave Gateways............. 31 Wireless EtherNet to DF1 Gateway............................................................ 32 Wireless Solutions for Oil and Gas............................................................. 33 Wireless Solutions for Water and Wastewater............................................. 34 Wireless Solutions for factory Automation and Process Control..................... 35 Product Matrix Section Stand Alone Gateways Product Selection Chart........................................... 36 Wireless Comparison Product Selection Chart............................................ 38 Wireless Accessories Product Selection Chart............................................. 39 ProSoft Wireless Designer (PWD).............................................................. 40 Contact Information................................................................................ 41 Our Brands ProSoft’s ProLinx brand offers stand-alone, DIN-rail mounted, industrial gateways with communication solutions between competitive PAC, DCS and PLC systems.
