Paul de Tarse The origin of the project Objet dansant à définir n°.... comes from the desire to be able to present a dance from which the body-material is missing. I wanted to make visible the "dancing" idea that a contemplation/hypnosis time would lead to an imaginary reasoning and/or a reflection on absence.also the desire to bring together my principal activities (movement, costume, sound) into one project. The image of the wind in the curtains during the siesta, the idea of everyone's fantasies, Paul Virilio's "Esthétique de la disparition", (maybe some mobiles from my childhood) have been with me and still are with me today on this play. Objet dansant à définir n°... is a project relying on the fragility and the simplicity of the proposition. Then, it seems important to me to recontexctualise "object" every other performance. Thus, 'hanging/time/progress/material" are modified according to the architectural place. special thanks to Mannux, Pascale Paoli, Catarina Campino, Emmanuelle Huynh, Joao Fiadero/lab7 and the staff of the "Ménagerie de verre". lʼassociation fragile received the support of DRAC Nord Pas de Calais, Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication and from Culturesfrance for its overseas tours. Since 2007, lʼassociation fragile / Christian Rizzo has been in residence at the Opéra de Lille. press clips Siamese dresses tied together by the arms are suspended above a path marked out with fans. While the electronic music rises, the air carries along the pair of net dresses. Thrilling duo indeed, this 12 minutes dance of air and material. Perfect length for a 100% polyester hypnosis signed by Christian Rizzo. He entitled his work Objet dansant à définir n°4. Performer for Mark Tompkins, this choreographer-costume designer is a perfectly "unaccustomed" artist as Marie-Thérèse Allier, who is director of the Festival Les Innacoutumés of the Ménagerie de Verre, likes them. Rosita Boisseau, Le Monde June 1999 Christian Rizzo is a dabbler with multiple resources, a polyvalent artist, non exclusive, who refuses any specialisation: rocker during a while, fashion designer, contemporary art lover, dancer, actor, composer, choreographer. A man of frivolity and thought, a man of daily life and artistic creation all together. ³I am a simple man. I don¹t like complications. Time is music² : these sentences mixed by DJ Food punctuate 100% polyester, like personal winks. A line hangs between the back and the proscenium where two dresses hang from a moving metallic structure, their long sleeves sewn together. Two raw dresses, see-through, inlaid with interlaced artificial hair which recalls vegetal fibres. Fans start one after the other while the mobile goes slowly along the line. The dresses begin to have a floating movement, almost imperceptible, then move lightly, until they lift up and turn round on themselves. Between light and shadow -subtly organised by Cathy Olive elegance, delicacy, a device with an hypnotic effect. Carole Bodin, Mouvement April / June 2000 biography of caty olive Caty Olive received her degree in stage design from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She divides her activities as a lighting designer among several types of projects: - Dance: working with Marco Berrettini, Christophe Haleb, Martine Pisani, Myriam Gourfink, Emmanuelle Huynh, Claudia Triozzi and Christian Rizzo in France; and Vera Mantero and Tiago Guedes, in Portugal. - Architecture and exhibitions: Cartier International, Parc de la Villette, the Château de Versailles, Espace Electra, The Museum of the Cinema, Midi Minuit, The Museum of Fashion - Fashion: Cartier, de Beers, Rayon Vert/Hermès. She has also done research on light installations: Portrait de Frans Poelstra, Structure multifonctions, Cabinet des méduses, une exposition des caustiques. In all these diverse projects, Olive shows a particular interest in questions arising from the displacement and instability of light. schedule past performances 2009 N°50 : 17-29 novembre n°49 : 12-14 novembre n°48 : august 21 - 22 n°47 : june 17 - july 11 n°46 : may 17 - 18 n°45 : april 25 n°44 : february 21 Ecole Supérieure des Industries du Textile et de lʼHabillement Casablanca - Maroc Ménagerie de Verre, dans le cadre du Festival les Inaccoutumés – Paris - France Art Festival of Pannonhalma – Hungary Festival de Marseille – Marseille – France Abbaye de Graville on the occasion of the festival « les météores » – Le Havre – France forshadowing of the Musée de la Danse – Rennes – France Tanzquartier – Vienna – Austria 2008 n°43 : november 18 - 26 n°42 : september 21 - 28 Le Théâtre, scène nationale de Poitiers – Poitiers – France Center for Performance Research CPR / festival Crossing the Line – New-York City – United States 2007 n°41 : september 29 to october 13 n°40 : may 9 - 19 n°39 : may 2 - 5 N°38 : february 2 Opéra de Lille / carte blanche à Christian Rizzo « Opéra(tion) - remix » – Lille – France LIG art Hall / The Springwave festival – Séoul – Coree Centre national de la Danse – Pantin – France Le Théâtre des Quatre Saisons – Gradignan – France 2006 n°37 : april 8 La Passerelle, scène nationale – Saint Brieuc – France 2005 n°36 : october 15 & 16 Lilian baylis Theatre / Festival dance Umbrella – London – United Kingdom 2004 n°35 : november 20 n°34 : october 9 & 10 n°33 : june 1 - 3 n°32 : may 29 n°31 : may 10 n°30 : april 16 & 17 n°29 : march 19 n°28 : february 2 – 6 CCN du Havre Haute-Normandie / semaines européennes de lʼimage « apparemment léger » - Le Havre - France e Kanagawa Arts Foundation / 11 International Arts Festival – Yokohama – Japan Auditorium Parco della Musica / Festival La Francia si muove – Rome – Italy Superstudio Più / festival La Francia si muove – Milan – Italy Teatro Juvarra / Teatro Regio Torino / festival La Francia si Muove – Turin – Italy LʼEspace, Centre Culturel Français de Hanoï – Hanoï – Vietnam Théâtre de Lübeck / Centre Culturel Français de Kiel – Lübeck – Germany Institute for Choreography and Dance – Cork – Ireland 2003 n°27 : november 29 Hebbel / Theater Berlin Gesellschaft – Berlin – Germany n°26 : september 23 - 26 n°25 : july 12 & 13 n°24 : march 14 – 27 Opéra de Lyon – Lyon – France Festival Rayons Frais – Tours – France Espace des Arts – Chalon sur Saône – France 2002 n° 23 : october 5 n° 22 : july 6 n° 21 : may 25 & 26 n°20 : may 17 & 18 n°19 : march 19 – 20 Musée Galliera / Nuit Blanche – Paris – France Centro de Cultura Contemporanea de BCN / IN MOTION festival – Barcelona – Spain Festival rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de SeineSaint-Denis – Bobigny – France Superstudio Più / festival Short Formats – Milan – Italy La Filature – Mulhouse – France 2001 n°18 : october 23 n°17 : july 14 n°16 : may 15 n°15 : may 13 n°14 : january 31 & february 3 Sandfield Centre / the Now Festival – Nottingham – United Kingdom Sub-Palco / auditorium du teatro de Campo Alegre – Porto – Portugal Pôle Sud / festival nouvelles Strasbourg Danse – Strasbourg – France DSN, Dieppe, scène nationale / festival Visu – Dieppe – France Le Lieu Unique – Nantes – France 2000 n°13 : december 1 n°12 : september 30 & october 1 n°11 : september 26, 27 & 28 n°10 : july 8 n°9 : june 22 & 23 n°8 : june 17 n°7 : may 13 Le Forum, centre culturel et scène conventionnée – Le BlancMesnil – France Le Manège, scène nationale Reims – France Sala Cuarta Pared / Desviaciones – Madrid – Spain Centre dʼArt Contemporain Le Consortium - LʼUsine / Exposition : I Love Dijon – Dijon – France CCN de Montpellier, Les Ursulines – Montpellier – France le studio aux docks / Le Printemps de Cahors – Cahors – France Onyx / festival « Le club des cinq » – Saint Herblain – France 1999 n°6 : n°5 : n°4 et 4bis : n°3 : n°2 : n°1 : n°0 : Le Quartz, scène nationale de Brest / Festival Danse(s) au Quartz – Brest – France Biennale dʼart contemporain de Maia – Maia – Portugal La Ménagerie de Verre / Les Inaccoutumés 8 et 9 – Paris – France Festival descent-danse n°5 – Tours – France Lab/7-espacio ginjal-portugal – Porto – Portugal Alcântara màr-club – Lisbon – Portugal LAB, centre culturel – Lisbon – Portugal ••••••••••••• Contact lʼassociation fragile / christian rizzo 9, rue de la pierre levée 75 011 Paris tel : +33 (0)1 48 00 83 59 [email protected] www.lassociationfragile.com •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
