Philippe Kohly - Beirut Art Film Festival
Philippe Kohly Biography After studying economy and later film for some years, Philippe Kohly developped a keen interest in the portrait film. He has in the last twelve years produced fifteen or so portrait films. From Dalida to Yvonne De Gaulle, from Barbara to Edith Piaf, Philippe Kohly brings a human and intimist perspective to his portraits of the personalities who marked the last century. In Beirut, the festival-goers have already had a chance to enjoy the work of this director with his documentary Matisse and Picasso, colour and drawing, shown in 2015. This year, the festival organisers have wanted to invite Philippe Kohly to present his three documentaries programmed for this second Beirut Art and Film Festival: Alain Delon, the unknown (2015), Marlon Brando, an actor named desire (2013) and Callas Assoluta (2007).
