::: Les danses de Dom ::: presents Accumulation #2 Accumulation #1 - PEUX-JE and Accumulation #2 are the two first parts of a triptych in which Dominique Jégou experiments three working contexts from which various possibilities of dance emerge. For this project, Dominique Jégou works with: - The poet and the performeur Charles Pennequin, - The musician and the composer of electronic music Olivier Sens, - Visual artist, designer Jocelyn Cottencin // project in the course of creation Each of these projects is a collaboration and a co-writing with the invited artists one by one. By associating them during the same evening, these three projects are going to get clearer each other. Production Les danses de Dom Coproductions Musée de la danse (CCN - Rennes) Théâtre de Lorient Danse à tous les étages in 2015 This production received support from DanSCe Dialogues 2. © Thomas Seité Accumulation #2 A creation by & Dominique Jégou (dancer and choreographer) Olivier Sens (musician, electronic music composer ) Catherine Legrand (dancer) © Thomas Seité The second form of the triptych Accumulations is at first a journey from Dominique Jégou’s and Catherine Legrand choreographic archives . It develops an accumulation of proposals becoming constraints harder and harder to consider as the dancers. Try for example to dance simultaneously a module of Levying of the conflicts of Boris Charmatz, a movement of Strange Days of Dominique Bagouet, quickly while turning(shooting) the head from right to left without stopping jumping and saying a text evoking this process most quietly possible. The music was composed secondly by Olivier Sens and joins the dance in several ways : by moment very synchronized, it also gets loose from it until finding moments of “no relationship “ where it exists then in a autonomous way, fairly distanced from the dance. Ronan Bernard’s lightings are also partly improvised and based on an elementary railing of proposals. InterviewwithDominiqueJégouetOlivierSens Dominique Jégou : “I chose to take support on archives, to treat them in different and simultaneous manners and to see what happened. Then there was all this work of accumulation of constraints, in particular by making dances with three or four indications as we dance with ear monitors. And I think that we could continue to develop because when I see Catherine dancing this part where she makes Dominique Bagouet’s extract mixed with Boris Charmatz’s room part while turning the head to the right and to the left, while jumping, while speaking, that makes five simultaneous tasks, when I see her making it I say to myself that we could again add a new task with this idea that we made this work of saturation to approach a zone which would be almost an unhooking, which could suspend the possibility of being virtuoso.” Olivier Sens : “We always speak about the relationship between dance and music et we finaly explored the non-relationship, to where we could disconnect the music of the dance. That’s why we use ear-monitor which allows Catherine and Dominique to hear things different from what is broadcast as music in facade.” Dominique Jégou : “It’s you who have in a second time created synchronous or unsynchronous modes of playing with processes of sound transformation which doesn’t corresponded at all with those of the dance.” © Thomas Seité Olivier Sens : “We surf on a limit where permanently we wonder what is going to happen, if it’s deliberate or not. That is by leaving of an autonomous music, stronger than usually, that allows to give another timing to the dance. We generate breaths where nothing happened. Finally there are not only danced moments, but also there are extremely slow moments. It is almost no more dance, it becomes musical photos, I like this idea.” DOMINIQUE JÉGOU To work choreographic forms having a strong temporal definition, it teases Dominique Jégou since 2003, period when his choreographic writing was more established on spatial devices ; at this moment, the dancers had to replay / to transform / to destroy the scores of movements proposed by Dominique Jégou. Since a few years the temporality found itself even more in the center of his work. After having worked personally on accumulation during 365 days in 2011, Dominique Jégou is actually working on the creation of the trilogy Accumulations with Charles Pennequin (sound poet, performer artist), Olivier Sens (musician, composer) and Jocelyn Cottencin (artist, designer). The first part, Accumulation #1 – PEUX-JE, with Charles Pennequin was created in october 2012. The second part, Accumulation #2 was created in Brest the 1st of february 2014. The third part, with Jovelyn Cottencin, is actually in creation. In parralel of these shows performed in theatres, Dominique Jégou pursues his choreographic work in other formats and lengths which differ from stage performance : choreograhic films, conference shows, performance art... He also performs in Boris Charmatz’s Levée des Conflits. Dominique Jégou is always involved in the training of professional dancers and the transmission of Dominique Bagouet’and Trisha Brown’s repertoire OLIVIER SENS After having studied the piano and the guitar, Olivier Sens choose the double bass, the instrument which he works with Dave Holland, Palle Danielson and Bernard Cazauran. Noticed by Henri Texier in 1992, he participates with the latter in various training courses. He receives a “Django d’ Or” for the disk the Poetic Resistance (trio with Sébastien Texier and Christophe Marguet). Founder member of the company The ZAM with François Merville and Vincent Courtois, he is a part of several groups among which the quartet of Bojan Z, the trio of Denis Badault, the trio of Hasse Poulsen. At the same time, he develops his activities in the field of the electronic music and developed the original interactive software “USINE”. Besides, professor of double bass to the academy of Bagneux from 1998 till 2001 and at present Bagnolet, he assures the educational direction of the training course of the “ Coomb of Louba “ in Ardèche. In 2013, Olivier Sens allies his talent to those of Dominique Jégou, with who he has already collaborated repeatedly (Cubing, Un si petit espace au creux du temps), for the project Accumulation 2. CATHERINE LEGRAND Symbolic interpreter of Dominique Bagouet with whom she begins her dancer’s course, she participates in all his pieces until 1990. Catherine Legrand also takes part in the creation of “Les Carnets Bagouet”. She contributes as such to the transmission of the Saut de l’ange, the Petites pièces de Berlin, Jours étranges and collaborates to the project Matière Première. She pursues her interpreter’s route with Hervé Robbe, Olivia Grandville and, more recently, Deborah Hay, Alain Michard, Emmanuelle Huynh either still Boris Charmatz. She collaborates in particular with the latter to Con forts fleuve and Levée des conflits. Dominique Jégou is also a choreographer with whom she worked several times (Cubing, Cubing Bis,Un si petit espace au creux du temps, their common passion for the work of Bagouet having already bound them for several years.
