Rating
CGI Edge™ Rating is an object-oriented rating workstation that lets business users
create, build, and test the rating procedures and tables used by your company. The
rate tables are stored in a database, making it easy to add new tables or change
existing ones, and deploy them quickly to your agents and policy processors. Our
easy-to-use Algorithm Editor makes it easy to change the steps used to rate a policy.
The rate designer workstation facilitates rating design, development, testing, and
deployment into one package with a server component that creates the production
run-time environment. The solution supports an unlimited number of rating and rating
algorithm versions. Algorithm and table versions are available by line of business,
company, product, state, new business effective date, renewal effective date, and
creation date.
Other productivity features include an integrated regression testing and visual
debugger, an integrated data dictionary, and the ability to quickly import your rating
tables from outside sources such as Excel spreadsheets.
Tables
The tables used by CGI Edge Rating are stored in a database. You can add new
tables and or change existing tables using Table Editor. Changes to the tables can
be made at any time, even while users are in the system actively rating policies.
CGI Edge Rating provides unmatched flexibility for your rating. In addition to the
normal table lookup mechanisms, it offers a Smart Tables capability that allows you
to interpolate and extrapolate rates automatically, perform a range look-up, and
determine when to use a default value—all with no programming.
Algorithms
Algorithms are the sequences of steps required to rate a policy. CGI Edge Rating’s
Algorithm Editor provides an easy-to-use, point-and-click environment that can be
used by both technical and business users. CGI Edge Rating encourages efficiency
and reuse, by allowing you to set up common algorithms that can be used across a
the system. Just like tables, algorithms can be distinguished by line of business,
company, product, state, and several different dates.
Rating templates
Each rating template includes a standard-based set of algorithms and tables for
each line of business. In many cases, the template rating algorithms can be used as
is, and only the rating tables need to be updated with your company’s rates. If
adjustments to the template are needed, the Rating Designer makes the process fast
and easy.
Operating environment
CGI Edge is an n-tier, service-based solution. The rich, browser-based client runs on
any operating system supporting Internet Explorer 6 or 7. The web/application server
runs on Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. Oracle 10g is used in the data tier.
