February Activity:
Pupils collect informations about naturalistic beauty of its region and make
proposals to create naturalistic stays in places of interest
Dear friends of Bucharest and Granollers, we propose a tour of the southern coast of
Sardinia from Villasimius to Chia. Information, including photographic, it relates Cagliari
with some of its monuments, Molentargius and Santa Gilla, The Poetto of Cagliari and
Quartu, Marina Piccola, Nora, Chia, the beaches of Torre delle Stelle, Solanas and
Villasimius
Flamingos in Molentargius pond.
Within the metropolitan area of Cagliari, where 400,000 people live, there is the
regional nature park Molentargius - Saline.
Cagliari means "Castle", in Sardinia language we say "Casteddu". If you visit the Castle
and you start your tour from "Porta Cristina" in ther north, you can see: - on your left "lo
stagno di Molentargius"
The view on your righ: there is the other pond named "Lo stagno di Santa Gilla"
In the South of the Castle, a view from the Bastione - The port of CAGLIARI
A big poster in the laboratory of the Regional park
In the past "Molentargius and Santa Gilla" were very important. In "Santa Gilla" there
was the old town of Cagliari. In Molentargius salt was a source of income and many
foreign people conquered the city to get salt and salt trade (Carthaginians, Romans,
Spaniards, Pisani, Piedmont).
Last Friday the class II D and II B
visited Cagliari, Molentargius and the
Regional Center of environmental
education sustainability
"Molentaqrgius". We observed in the
microscopes and we saw a lot of
small insects and animals of the
pond. Some teachers spoke about
the history of Salt.
This is the didactic center of the
Regional park of Molentargius
Among the saltwort and the rushes you'll
be able to see swamp hens, dwarf herons
and short-eared owls. Near the park you
can also see beautiful herons and
flamingos (the king of the lagoon or "genti
arrubia") flying in their magnificent way
