Young Leaders Wanted: A week in Ottawa on Parliament Hill!

Spaces are limited for the 2017 Forum for Young Canadians program. Invite your young leaders to apply to
represent your school and community on the national stage! The deadline to apply is January 20 2017.
The Forum for Young Canadians is Canada’s premier civics education
New Dates for 2017 Sessions:
program for students aged 15-19 years old. Forum brings over 100
Session 1 – February 20 to 25 2017
students per week to Ottawa for an intensive academic adventure
Session 2 – March 5 to 10 2017
immersing them in the exciting world of national politics and public
Session 3 – March 19 to 24 2017
affairs. Participants get to meet the Senators, Members of Parliament
and other decision-makers who impact their daily lives and see them in action. After 40 years, this program remains vital
for increasing knowledge of decision-making processes for youth from across Canada and engaging them in these
processes.
Do you have a student who is always talking politics, who wants to change the world or who stands up for democracy?
The Forum program is looking for engaged students to come share that passion on Parliament Hill.
Encourage your students to apply now to ensure that your leader(s) have the opportunity to:

gain a better understanding of the national decision-making process in Canada;
get an insiders’ view of Canadian politics and public affairs;
share their ideas and acquire tools for community engagement;
enhance their leadership and second official language skills;
network with other youth from across the country;
travel to Ottawa and experience Parliament Hill during Canada’s 150th year; and
be a part of a rewarding, exceptional and memorable experience.
Through the testimonials of past participants Forum is regarded as one of the most important weeks of their lives
encouraging them to increase their civic engagement through their career choices and civic activities. Bursaries are
available.

Forum has five basic rules of conduct / Il y a cinq règles de base au Forum :
Appropriate and respectful behaviour is required from students at all times;

The use, possession or concealment of alcohol or non-prescribed medications, including illegal drugs, is strictly forbidden;
L’utilisation, la possession et la dissimulation d'alcool, de drogue ou de médicaments vendus sans ordonnance, y compris la
drogue illicite, sont strictement interdites, et ce, en tout temps;
The highest level of respect will be demanded at all times during Forum. No types of harassment - physical, verbal, racial,
sexual or otherwise - will be tolerated. No exclusive or sexual relations will be permitted;

Forum for Young Canadians is a stimulating experience. It is also very demanding, both physically as well as intellectually. It
requires whole-hearted participation and a real commitment to the program.
PARTICIPATION COSTS
Selected students are responsible for paying or raising the funds necessary to cover the costs of attending FORUM FOR
YOUNG CANADIANS.
The program fee to attend Forum 2016-2017 is $895. The fee covers program costs, accommodation, meals and
transportation costs. Many bursaries are available. Please consult our website for details.
Forum pour jeunes Canadiens est une expérience enrichissante, mais aussi très exigeante, tant physiquement qu’intellectuellement. Le programme nécessite une participation inconditionnelle et un engagement réel.
FRAIS DE PARTICIPATION
Il incombe aux étudiants dont la candidature est retenue de se procurer eux-mêmes les fonds nécessaires pour couvrir les
frais de participation au Forum.
Les frais de participation au Forum 2016-2017 est 895$. Ces frais comprennent les coûts relatifs au programme,
