Dear colleagues and guests,
this program serves to invite you to the Fifth
Conference of the Adult Section of the
European Federation for Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP).
The topic “Crossing Borders – Integrating
Differences”
offers manifold connections with our every
day work as psychoanalytic psychotherapists.
Patients with severe disorders challenge us.
Other clinical phenomena pose the question
whether we are dealing with illness in a
narrow sense or rather with variants of human
existence. Another aspect is the consideration
of modifications and extensions of standard
analytical methodology. And lastly: How do
psychoanalysts in different countries respond
to challenges in their practices?
The conference topic, however, also offers the
opportunity to confront questions and topics
beyond the treatment couch, such as transitional situations following political and social
upheavals, migration and its consequences,
torture and violence. We will also take up
problems in ongoing psychoanalytical
research.
Special attention is drawn to the workshop
on “Peer Review for a Paper on Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapy and the International Journal
for Psychoanalysis”. A text submitted for
publication in the IJP will be discussed in a
peer review by Roberto Basile and participants. Please note that participation requires
pre-registration (registration form!) You
will receive the text ahead of time.
The conference takes place in the center of
Europe in Dresden, the capital of Saxony, with
a history that goes back about 800 years.
Kurfürst August the Strong made Dresden into
one of the most beautiful cities of Europe.
After his time the city was a hub of culture
and science. At the end of World War ll it was
subjected to intense bombing, but it has to a
large extent been rebuilt. The reconstruction
of the Frauenkirche has become a symbol of
the will to repair the damages of war and of
international collaboration. The local
ambiance and the poignant history of Dresden
give our theme a particular relevance in view
of EFPPs declared mission of developing means
for improving psychic health of people in
Europe.
EFPP will designate a space for reflection
on common/ divisive issues, one of the aims
of the conference.
We are looking forward to meeting you in
Dresden!

Accomodation
Unfortunately the conference hotel “Elbflorenz” is fully subscribed until 19-May. From
20-May a very special offer has been granted:
single room Euro 85, double room Euro 99 –
breakfast included. As the number of rooms is
limited you are advised to register at your

Conference languages
The official conference languages are English,
French and German. Translations of the main
lectures into the other two languages will be
projected on screen.
Buffet lunch
On Friday and Saturday the conference hotel
“Elbflorenz” offers a buffet lunch for Euro
19,50 per day including salads, soup, two
different main dishes, desserts and mineral
water. If you want to take part in the buffet
lunch please mark this on the registration
form and transfer the money with the conference fees. Then you’ll find a voucher with
your conference documents.

public lecture which starts at 8.00 p.m sharp
– Gala Dinner & Ball on Saturday evening
(21-May, at 8.00 p.m.) at Hotel “The Westin

Travel to Dresden
– By plane: Dresden airport is located some
10 km north of the conference venue (Hotel
“Elbflorenz”/ Theatre “Wechselbad”). You can
reach it by suburban fast train (S-Bahn) to
the central railway station (Hauptbahnhof)
which takes approx. 25 minutes. Or you go
by taxi which costs approx. 13 – 15 Euro and
takes between 15 and 30 mínutes.
– By train: Dresden central railway station is
an integral part of the ICE- and EC-networks. Walking distance to the Elbflorenz/
Wechselbad some 700 meters. Tram No. 7 or
No. 10 (two stops to World Trade Center).
Taxi takes 5 minutes.
– By car: Dresden can be reached directly on
two motorways: the A 4 approaches the city
from the west (Cologne/Eisenach/Chemnitz)
and the A 13 from the north
(Rostock/Berlin). You can see the WTC with
its 16 floors (glass tower) from the distance.
Acknowledgement

The Sächsische Landesärztekammer acknowledges the conference for further vocational
training for the Sächsisches Fortbildungszertifikat with 21 points (8/8/5) (certified vocational training).
Tourist Program
Founded 799 ago, Dresden acquired the
appelation of “Florence of the North” in the
baroque period (Archeduke August the Strong
and his sons) because of both its unique location and of its wealth of baroque structures
and art treasures. World War II brought devastation on the city but immense renovation
projects allow it to reclaim its traditional title.

Nous vous invitons chaleureusement par le
biais de ce programme à assister à la Cinquième Conférence de la Section Adulte de
l‘European Federation for Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapy (EFPP).
Le thème “Franchir les frontières – Intégrer
les différences“
offre une multitude de liens en rapport avec
notre travail quotidien en tant que psychothérapeutes psychanalytiques. Les patients
atteints de graves troubles nous lancent un
défi. D’autres phénomènes cliniques nous
confrontent à la question de savoir s’il s’agit
réellement de maladies au sens strict du terme
ou plutôt de variantes de l’existence humaine.
Un autre aspect est l’observation des modifications et des extensions du processus standard analytique. Et pour finir : comment les
psychanalystes de différents pays se comportent-ils face aux défis posés par la pratique ?
Le thème de la conférence offre également
l‘opportunité de réfléchir sur des questions
et problèmes qui se trouvent au-delà du divan
du psychanaliste, comme par ex. les situations
de transition après des bouleversements
politiques et sociétaux, l‘immigration et ses
conséquences, la torture et la violence. Nous
nous intéresserons également aux problèmes
rencontrés dans la pratique de la recherche
psychanalytique.

Nous attirons tout particulièrement votre
attention sur l’atelier intitulé “Contrôle par
les pairs d’un papier sur la Psychothérapie
psychanalytique et le IJP (The International
Journal for Psychoanalysis)”. Roberto Basile
discutera avec les participants, dans le cadre
d’un contrôle des pairs, d’un texte remis pour
paraître dans le journal IJP. Veuillez noter
qu‘une pré-inscription est nécessaire (formulaire d’inscription !). Vous recevrez le texte de
discussion en temps voulu.
La conférence se tiendra au centre de l’Europe,
à Dresde, capitale de la Saxe, riche de 800 ans
d’histoire qui se caractérise par un fort
héritage culturel, sa tradition universitaire
et ses administrations.
Le prince électeur, Auguste le Fort, œuvra tout
au long de son règne à faire de Dresde l’une
des plus belles villes d’Europe et un centre de
la culture et du savoir. Pendant la Seconde
Guerre mondiale, elle connut d’intenses
bombardements, mais elle est aujourd’hui en
grande partie reconstruite. La reconstruction
de l’église Notre-Dame “Frauenkirche” est
devenue le symbole de la volonté de réparer
les dommages causés par la guerre et de la
collaboration internationale. L’atmosphère de
Dresde et son histoire poignante donnent à
notre thème une importance particulière au
regard de la mission déclarée de l‘EFPP de
développer les moyens visant l’amélioration
de la santé psychique des Européens.
L‘EFPP offre un espace de réflexion sur ce
qui nous unit et nous sépare, ce à quoi la
conférence se veut d‘apporter son soutien.

Déjeuner buffet
Le vendredi et le samedi, l’hôtel de la conférence “Elbflorenz” propose un déjeuner buffet

Pour se rendre à Dresde
– Par l‘avion : l’aéroport de Dresde est situé à
environ 10 km au nord du lieu de la conférence (Hôtel “Elbflorenz”/ Théâtre “Wechselbad”). Vous pouvez vous y rendre en prenant
le train de banlieue rapide (S-Bahn) jusqu’à
la gare principale (Hauptbahnhof) qui met
environ 25 minutes. Ou vous pouvez prendre
un taxi qui mettra entre 15 et 30 minutes et
coûtera 13 -15 euros.
– Par le rail : la gare principale de Dresde est
reliée aux réseaux des trains ICE et EC. Les
hôtels Elbflorenz/Wechselbad sont situés à
environ 700 mètres. Vous pouvez prendre les
lignes de tramway 7 ou 10 (deux arrêts
jusqu‘au World Trade Center) ou un taxi
(5 minutes).
– Par la route : deux autoroutes mènent directement à Dresde : vous arrivez à l’ouest par
la A 4 (Cologne/Eisenach/Chemnitz) et au
nord par la A 13 (Rostock/Berlin). Vous pouvez apercevoir au loin le WTC, une tour de
verre de 16 étages.

Programme touristisque
Dresde, fondée voici 799 ans, fut surnommée,
de l’époque du baroque (prince Auguste le Fort
et son fils) jusqu’à la Seconde Guerre mondiale, la “Florence de l‘Elbe” en raison de ses
richesses architecturales baroques et artistiques, mais aussi pour sa situation unique.
60 ans après les terribles destructions de la
guerre, la ville a retrouvé sa réputation
d‘autrefois. Le comité d’organisation désire
donner un aperçu de ses splendeurs aux
participants et à leurs accompagnateurs en
leur proposant un évantail de visites guidées.
Le nombre de personnes minimum pour
chaque visite guidée est de 20. Elles auront
lieu aussi bien en allemand qu’en anglais s’il y
a un nombre suffisant de participants. Veuillez
indiquer dans le formulaire d’inscription les
visites auxquelles vous désirez participer et le

Liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen,
sehr verehrte Gäste,
mit diesem Programm möchten wir Sie
herzlich einladen zur Fünften Konferenz der
Erwachsenen-Sektion der Europäischen
Föderation für Psychoanalytische Psychotherapie im Gesundheitswesen (EFPP).
Das Thema „Grenzen überwinden –
Unterschiede integrieren“
bietet vielfältige Verknüpfungspunkte mit
unserer täglichen Arbeit als psychoanalytische
Psychotherapeuten. Patienten mit schweren
Störungen fordern uns heraus. Andere klinische Phänomene stellen uns vor die Frage,
ob es sich überhaupt um Krankheiten im engeren Sinne oder vielmehr um Varianten der
menschlichen Existenz handelt. Ein weiterer
Aspekt ist die Betrachtung von Modifikationen
und Erweiterungen des analytischen Standardverfahrens. Und schliesslich: Wie gehen
Psychoanalytiker in den verschiedenen
Ländern mit den Herausforderungen der Praxis
um? Gemeinsamkeiten und Trennendes soll
reflektiert werden.
Das Tagungsthema bietet aber auch Gelegenheit, über Fragen und Probleme nachzudenken,
die jenseits der Behandlungscouch angesiedelt
sind, so z.B. Übergangssituationen nach politischen und gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen,
Migration und ihre Folgen, Folter und Gewalt.
Auch Probleme der psychoanalytischen Forschungspraxis werden uns beschäftigen.
Besonders hinweisen möchten wir auf den
Workshop zum „Peer Review for a Paper on
Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and the International Journal for Psychoanalysis“. Hier wird
Roberto Basile einen Text, der zur Veröffentlichung im IJP eingereicht wurde, mit den Teilnehmern in einem peer review diskutieren.

Diskussionstext werden Sie rechtzeitig vorher
erhalten.
Die Tagung wird in Dresden in der Mitte Europas stattfinden. Die Geschichte der Hauptstadt
Sachsens umfasst 800 Jahre. Kurfürst August
der Starke machte Dresden zu einer der schönsten Barockstädte Europas, zu einem Zentrum
für Kultur und Fortschritt. Die Stadt wurde in
den letzten Tagen des Zweiten Weltkrieges
durch Bomben fast vollständig zerstört,
ist inzwischen aber weitgehend wieder hergestellt. Der Wiederaufbau der Frauenkirche
ist zu einem Symbol des Willens geworden,
die Kriegsschäden in einer internationalen
Zusammenarbeit zu beheben. Die Atmosphäre
der Stadt und ihre berührende Geschichte verleihen unserem Tagungsthema eine besondere
Bedeutung, auch auf dem Hintergrund des
Zieles unserer Föderation, Wege zur Förderung
der psychischen Gesundheit der Menschen in
Europa zu finden und zu verfolgen.

Anreise nach Dresden
– Mit dem Flugzeug: Der Flugplatz Dresden
liegt ca. 10 km vom Tagungsort (Hotel „Elbflorenz“/ Theater „Wechselbad“) entfernt.
Er ist erreichbar mit der S-Bahn (Haltestelle
Hauptbahnhof), Dauer ca. 25 Min. Mit dem
Taxi kostet es 13 – 15 Euro und dauert zwischen 15 und 30 Min.
- Mit dem Zug: Dresdens Hauptbahnhof wird
von ICE- und EC-Zügen angefahren. Entfernung zum „Elbflorenz/Wechselbad“ ca.
700 Meter. Wer nicht zu Fuß gehen will,
nimmt die Straßenbahn Nr. 7 oder Nr. 10
(2 Haltestellen bis zum World Trade Center)
oder das Taxi (5 Min.).
– Mit dem Auto: Dresden ist über 2 Autobahnen erreichbar: die A 4 kommt von Westen
(Köln/Eisenach/Chemnitz) und die A 13 von
Norden (Rostock/Berlin). Man kann das WTC
mit seinen 16 Stockwerken (gläserner Turm)
bereits aus der Ferne sehen.

Touristisches Programm
Vor 799 Jahren gegründet, galt Dresden seit
dem Zeitalter des Barock (Kurfürst August der
Starke und sein Sohn) wegen seines Reichtums
an Barockbauten und Kunstschätzen, aber
auch wegen seiner einzigartigen Lage, bis zum
Zweiten Weltkrieg als „Florenz des Nordens“.
60 Jahre nach den schweren Kriegszerstörungen wird die Stadt diesem Ruf heute wieder
gerecht. Davon möchte das Organisationskomitee den Tagungsteilnehmern bzw. ihrer
Begleitung mit einer Auswahl an geführten
Veranstaltungen einen Eindruck vermitteln.
Die Führungen kommen nur dann zustande,
wenn sich jeweils mindestens 20 Teilnehmer
anmelden. Sie werden bei ausreichender
Teilnehmerzahl sowohl in englischer als auch
in deutscher Sprache durchgeführt. Bitte

Each of the main presentations will have a
discussant whose task it will be to discuss the
paper so that the content can be fruitfully
commented on in the smaller discussion
groups that take place each day following the
main presentations.

contenu soit efficacement commenté dans de
petits groupes de discussion tous les jours

Diskussionsgruppen
Zu jedem der Hauptvorträge gibt es einen
Co-Referenten. Seine Aufgabe besteht darin,
den Vortrag zu diskutieren, so dass sein Inhalt
dann in den kleineren Diskussionsgruppen
vertieft werden kann. Diese Gruppen finden
jeweils im Anschluss an die Hauptvorträge
statt.
