OBJECTIFS
L'objectif principal de ce séminaire est d'analyser le phénomène des organisations
internationales en tenant compte de sa double dimension théorique et empirique. Au
plan théorique, le séminaire retracera l'histoire des débats conceptuels qui ont structuré
l'étude des organisations internationales et du multilatéralisme au cours du dernier
demi-siècle. Au plan empirique, il cherchera à faire le point sur un certain nombre
d'enjeux qui se trouvent au cœur des activités contemporaines de l'Organisation des
Nations Unies.
Plus largement, ce cours permettra aux étudiants de développer leurs compétences à la
fois en matière d'expression écrite et en matière d'expression orale.
PÉDAGOGIE
Fondé sur la discussion, ce séminaire ne comporte que peu d'exposés magistraux. Son
succès dépendra donc en bonne partie de la participation des étudiants. Pour favoriser
une bonne atmosphère de dialogue, les étudiants sont invités à ne pas utiliser leur
ordinateur en classe. Après la séance d'introduction, chacune des huit séances
suivantes donnera lieu à l'analyse d'une série de textes. Trois séances seront ensuite
consacrées à des exposés des étudiants. La dernière séance proposera un retoursynthèse sur l'ensemble du cours.
ÉVALUATION
1- Trois rapports de lecture (3 x 15% = 45%)
-les rapports de lecture (4 pages, sans compter la bibliographie) doivent faire une
synthèse de l'ensemble des textes proposés pour l'une des séances du cours;
-le premier rapport doit être remis le 19 janvier au plus tard et le troisième rapport, le 16
mars au plus tard; chaque rapport doit être remis au début de la séance à laquelle il se
rapporte (NB: Les rapports remis en retard subiront une pénalité de 25% par jour).
Les rapports de lecture doivent inclure une partie "résumé" (2 pages maximum) et une
partie "analyse" (2 pages minimum);
-la partie "résumé" récapitule les principaux arguments des textes étudiés en s'appuyant
sur une idée directrice;
-la partie "analyse" se fonde sur des points de convergence/divergence entre les textes
pour dégager les idées qui vous semblent les plus importantes.
2- Un travail de recherche (40%)
-chaque étudiant doit produire un travail de recherche (10 pages, sans compter la
bibliographie) sur un sujet pertinent lié au cours.
Le travail de recherche est produit en quatre étapes :
a) le sujet du travail est remis le 26 janvier (2%);
b) un document de 1 page (sans compter la bibliographie) explique l’idée directrice
du travail ; ce document est remis au professeur et aux autres étudiants de la classe le
9 mars (3%);
c) un exposé oral de 10 minutes au cours duquel les étudiants reçoivent les
commentaires de la classe (10%);
d) un travail final à remettre le 13 avril (10 pages, 25%).
NB: Les travaux finaux doivent être remis dans la boîte de dépôt des travaux qui se
trouve à côté du local C-4006. Les travaux finaux en retard subiront une pénalité de
25% par jour. La boîte de dépôt des travaux est dépouillée à 12h00 (midi) précises tous
les jours ouvrables. L’étudiant qui remet son travail après 12h00 (midi) est réputé avoir
remis ce travail le matin du jour ouvrable qui suit. Les jours non ouvrables sont comptés
comme des jours de retard.

Politique de l'université concernant le plagiat
Le Département de science politique porte une attention toute particulière à la lutte
contre le plagiat, le copiage et la fraude. Le plagiat consiste à utiliser de façon
totale ou partielle, littérale ou déguisée le texte d’autrui en le faisant passer pour
sien ou sans indication de référence à l’occasion d’un travail, d’un examen ou
d’une activité faisant l’objet d’une évaluation. Ce type de comportement est
lourdement sanctionné. Veuillez à cet effet consulter le règlement disciplinaire
dans l’Annuaire général de la Faculté des arts et des sciences.
