Boston International Children’s Film

Living with Two Languages: The
Advantages of Being Bilingual

This conference will discuss and explore, via multiple fields and perspectives, the
concept of “vivre bilingue” (being bilingual). It will share French and North
American perspectives from experts in bilingualism, psychology, psychiatry,
linguistics, nutrition, multiculturalism and education on the advantages of living
with two languages.
LIVE STREAM BROADCAST: Each panel will stream live on http://livingwith-two-languages.info starting at 9:30am Eastern time on Saturday, April 13,
2013. A recording of the conference will be available on the same website after

Application deadline: April 15, 2013
Applications must be sent by the Department of
French language
A man of the Enlightenment, philosopher and
scientist, Benjamin Franklin was also a great diplomat
and friend of France. This travel grant is named after
him and aims at giving American students an
opportunity to discover France. It is open to
sophomore, junior & senior students who are
enrolled in a double major including one major in
French and one major in another discipline
(humanities or non-humanities).

TRANSLATION: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
French Voices Awards
Application deadline: August 30, 2013 (Fall Session)
The French Voices Awards honor both translators
and American publishers for English translations
of works that have been published in France in
the last 6 years. Awards recipients are selected by a
literary committee. Each book receives a $6,000
award, shared by the American publisher and the
translator.

Hemingway Grants
Application deadline: August 30, 2013 (Fall Session)
Hemingway Grants allow publishers to receive
financial help for the translation and publication
of a French work into English. Grant beneficiaries
are selected by the Book Department of the French
Embassy in the United States. Grants awarded for
each work range from $500 to $6,000.

Acquisition of Rights
Grants
Application deadline: August 30, 2013 (Fall Session)
The Institut français helps American publishers
offset the cost of acquiring the rights to French
works. Grant beneficiaries are selected by the
Institut français in Paris. The amount awarded cannot
exceed the amount of the advance paid to the French
Publisher for the acquisition of rights and varies from
500 to 7,000 Euros.

Johnson & Wales University, and two different
