Can you imagine people of this world being “of one heart and mind” as was the first community of believers? Today’s First Letter of John seems to hold the key to how this can be accomplished. Keeping God’s commandments and loving all of God’s children seems to be the start of being “of one heart and mind.” We live in a world that stresses differences—differences among religions, among races, between genders, and among economic classes. Today we are summoned to focus on what we all share in common on this fragile planet of ours. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. Today’s Readings First Reading — With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus (Acts 4:32-35). Psalm — Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love is everlasting (Psalm 118). Second Reading — The victory that conquers the world is our faith (1 John 5:1-6). Gospel — Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed (John 20:19-31). Each of us has the opportunity to use social media wisely, without compromising our safety, privacy or reputation. The following are some general strategies to improve your social media presence and perhaps share with the youth who are already utilizing these platforms. • Do properly set up the privacy settings and preferences within the social media apps, sites and software you use. • Be aware of the social media’s Terms and Conditions prior to accepting. For example, anything posted on Instagram becomes their property to use in any way and for any purpose they choose. • Do not compromise your identity. Never post your address, date of birth, phone number or other personal contact information. • Resist accepting all friend and/or follower requests. Having lots of friends online is not the status symbol some people think it is and can increase your risk of victimization. • Do not post or respond to anything online when you are emotionally charge up. Once something is posted it cannot be taken back. Pause before you post. (Matthew 5:7) Today is Divine Mercy Sunday Jesus, I Trust in You Tickets available through CCW members, outside of church on Sundays or by calling Jackie Wade at 954-989-5970 f lots zoes pri The Divine Mercy devotion is a devotion of Trust, teaching us to appeal to God’s Mercy and count on it. It is a special offering we make of ourselves in response to Our Lord’s Divine Love. God’s great commandment, ‘love your neighbour as yourself ’ is reinforced in the devotion, which teaches us to love our enemies or those who have hurt us. Likewise, Blessed John Paul II continues to teach us to “forgive at the time you are hurting” in his Encyclical Letter, Dives In Misericordia. This shows the relationship between the concept of Love and the concept of Mercy, revealing the true meaning of selfless Love manifested as Mercy. What is the Divine Mercy Message? The Divine Mercy Message is to Trust in God’s unconditional Love and Mercy and practice merciful love to our neighbour in deed, word and prayer. Jesus told St Faustina that He requires these three acts of mercy from us... “In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy...even the strongest faith is of no avail without works.” (Diary 742) St Faustina wrote in her diary, Divine Mercy In My Soul, “...there are three ways of performing an act of mercy: the merciful word, by forgiving and by comforting; secondly, if you can offer no word, then pray - that too is mercy; and thirdly, deeds of mercy. And when the Last Day comes, we shall be judged from this, and on this basis we shall receive the eternal verdict.’ (Diary 1158) “...I am more generous toward sinners than toward the just. It was for their sake that I came down from heaven; it was for their sake that My Blood spilled. Let them not fear to approach Me; they are most in need of My mercy.” (Diary 1275) divinemercybcs.org/crbst_33.html St. Bartholomew Catholic School Miramar, Florida 954-431-5253 “Sharing, Learning and Growing in Christ” School Hours Monday - Friday 8 am - 2:45 pm School Office Hours Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 3:30 pm Quality Catholic education for $100 a month with “Step-Up” • Recipient of many academic and other awards • Graduates excel at St Thomas Aquinas, Archbishop McCarthy, Pace and Chaminade Madonna High schools. • Tuition $5,500 + other fees $1,025 • Family and parish discounts also available • Free VPK (Pre-Kindergarten program)until 12 Noon Please call to schedule a tour soon! —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
