RCIA IN THE SARNIA DEANERY - ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT BECOMING CATHOLIC?
If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church, in what we believe and how we seek to live our faith in Jesus Christ, the RCIA journey may be for you. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is a process of
formation which generally takes place over several months, culminating with the sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism,
Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil. The initial stage of the RCIA process is called the inquiry stage. If you are
considering becoming Catholic, we invite you to contact your local parish for more information about the Sarnia Deanery
RCIA process which begins on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. We are always happy to
welcome and walk with you wherever you are in your journey of faith.
RCIA Journey Onward Continuing the Journey with RCIA “Alumni”
Beginning in October, St. Michael Church (Bright’s Grove) will begin hosting a NEW monthly gathering for RCIA “graduates”
on the first Tuesday of the month from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the St. Michael meeting room to “journey onward” together as they
explore and share their faith journeys. Sponsors are most welcome to attend these evenings as well as we spend time exploring the rich heritage that is the Catholic faith. Joseph Palko will be our guest presenter at our inaugural session on Tuesday, October 6. These sessions are open to all from the Sarnia deanery who have joined the Catholic Church through the
RCIA process in the past 5 years. Please contact Leanne for more information ([email protected] or 519-344-2992 x25).
Life Chain - Sunday October 4 from 2:30 to 3:30:
Join with thousands of pro-lifers across North America on this same day to be a witness for life. Pick up your sign just before
2:30 at one of 2 locations on London Line: the Superstore parking lot or the former Zellers parking lot. Feel free to bring a
chair. For more information call Elizabeth at 519-466-0972.
Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained – Part II:
The Sarnia Deanery churches are partnering to offer the Catechism based program – Symbolon: the Catholic Faith Explained. In these first four episodes, we continue our walk through the story of salvation and the teachings of the Church, this time
exploring the key to fully living the Faith. As we unpack the ways that we encounter God in our lives, we discover the transforming power of God’s grace in the seven sacraments and consider some of the critical moral issues of our day. Catholicism is an
entire way of life. But today it’s not known. Beautifully crafted videos provide a clear and comprehensive explanation of the Catholic faith. Deacon Chuck Stevens will be serving as facilitator of these sessions. This is not a small group faith-sharing format,
but rather a classroom setting.
Please join us: Wednesday Oct. 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Parish Hall ~ 7:00 to 9:00 pm. For more
information visit www.symboloncatholic.org, call or email JoAnne 519-542-8826 [email protected]
You may attend all or any of the sessions. There is no charge. A Participant’s Guide will be available for purchase. (you may
wish to bring a journal and a pen).
