Found a remporté le Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr1), dimanche à Chantilly. Trois chevaux
entraînés par l’Irlandais Aidan O’Brien, tous issus de l’étalon-vedette Galileo, prennent les
trois premières places.
Le début de l’épreuve a été animé par le leader de S.A. l’Aga Khan Vedevani, avec dans son
sillage Order Of St George et The Grey Gatsby. Dans la ligne droite, Found trouvé le
passage à 400 mètres de l’arrivée puis elle a très nettement créé la différence. Elle s’impose
avec un peu moins de deux longueurs d’avance. Highland Reel est deuxième. Order Of St
George se classe troisième à un peu plus d’une longueur. Siljan's Saga, première Française à
l’arrivée, est quatrième, devant Postponed.
Plusieurs records sont tombés dans la course. Un record de vitesse (2’23’’61) : celui des
2400m de l’hippodrome de Chantilly, qui était détenu par Bering depuis 1986, en 2’24’’10.
Un record pour les entraîneurs : Aidan O’Brien est le premier, dans l’histoire, à placer ses
trois chevaux aux trois premières places.
Un record pour les étalons : Galileo, considéré comme un des meilleurs mâles reproducteurs
du monde, est le premier à placer trois de ses produits aux trois premières places.

« Je ne pouvais pas rêver d’un tel scénario. Voir ses pensionnaires aux trois premières places
de l'Arc, c'est incroyable ! Les trois chevaux sont, en plus, des produits de Galileo. Toute
l'équipe à Ballydoyle [son centre d’entraînement, Ndlr] fournit un travail extraordinaire et
c'est une belle récompense aujourd'hui. »

« J'ai pu bénéficier d'un bon parcours, derrière The Grey Gatsby que je connais bien [il a
notamment gagné avec lui le Prix du Jockey Club, Ndlr]. Quand le passage s'est ouvert, il a
fallu y aller, même si j'ai dû attaquer plus tôt que je ne l'aurais voulu. L'Arc a toujours été un
objectif pour Found. Elle est toujours à son top durant l'automne. Ce triplé pour l'écurie, c'est
fantastique. C'est un événement, comme le Magnificent Seven de Frankie Dettori à Ascot [le
jour où Dettori avait gagné sept courses à Ascot, Ndlr]. »

« C'est tout simplement incroyable. Aidan O'Brien a réussi quelque chose que je n'aurais
jamais imaginé possible ! Quelle performance de l'entraîneur, et quelle performance de
Found, une pouliche qui a toujours répondu présent, et le fait encore après une longue année.
Elle donne l'impression d'être encore meilleure avec les courses.
Je tiens à remercier Michael Bell. Il entraînait Red Evie, la mère de Found, et c'est aussi grâce
à lui que nous avons pu l'acquérir et elle nous a donné Found. Found a souvent été deuxième
cette année, mais ce n'était pas décevant. Elle était déjà une très bonne pouliche avant de
gagner cet "Arc". Pour la suite, nous n'avons rien décidé. Elle pourrait courir la Breeder's Cup
[le 5 novembre à Santa Anita, près de Los Angeles, Ndlr], mais j'ai envie d'abord de savourer
avant de penser à l'avenir. Il faut aussi souligner que les trois chevaux sont des produits de
Galileo, le meilleur étalon du monde. »

« Quelle jument ! Quelle jument ! Siljan's Saga n'avait pas son terrain, mais quelle
performance elle a réalisé ! C'est génial. A Deauville, elle m'avait déjà bien plu car elle n'était
qu'à 70%. Aujourd'hui, elle était à 100%. Elle a été plus calme qu'à l'accoutumée également.
Elle a un cœur plus gros qu'elle. Elle n'a pas eu trop le jour dans la ligne droite et sa quatrième
place est très bonne. »

« Nous devons d'abord digérer notre déception. Le cheval est très bien parti et s'est vite
retrouvé à la pointe du combat. Il a dû progresser en troisième épaisseur... Il est entré dans la
ligne droite sur la mauvaise jambe et ensuite il n'a jamais pu mettre le coup de reins qu'il
fallait. J'espère déjà qu'il va bien rentrer de la course. »

« A la photo finish, One Foot in Heaven est tout juste sixième avec Postponed. C'est une
bonne course et très belle performance du cheval. Ce n'est pas du tout une surprise car le
cheval avait vraiment bien travaillé le matin. »

« Le cheval était déjà tendu dans la boîte de départ. Il n'a jamais bien respiré, s'est contracté,
et il a dû progresser à l'extérieur. Dans la ligne droite, il a vite rendu les armes. »

FOUND WINS THE QATAR PRIX DE L'ARC DE TRIOMPHE
AND THREE RECORDS FALL!
Found was the winner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday in Chantilly, as three
runners trained by Aidan O'Brien, all by Galileo, filled out the podium.
The race was controlled at the beginning by the pacemaker Vedevani, with Order of St.
George and The Grey Gatsby falling in behind. In the home stretch, Found found a hold 400
meters from the post and she took advantage to draw away from the field. She won by just
under three lengths, with Highland Reel coming in second and Order of St. George third, just
over a length behind his stablemate. Siltajn's Saga was fourth, in front of Postponed.
A few records were broken in the race. The time of 2 minutes, 23.61 seconds was a record for
the race, which had been set by Bering in 1986, with a time of 2 minutes, 24.10 seconds.
A training record also fell, as Aidan O'Brien became the first trainer in history to rain the first
three home.
And a record for stallion performance also was set: Galileo, considered to be among the best
stallions in the world, became the first to see three of his offspring take the first three places.

“I couldn't even imagine this scenario. To see your horses finish in the first three places in the
Arc is incredible! All three horses are by Galileo. The whole team at Ballydoyle have done
amazing work and this is a fantastic reward.”
Ryan Moore (jockey):
“I had a good position, in behind The Grey Gatsby, who I know well [he won the Prix du
Jockey Club with him]. When the gap opened up, we were able to go on, even though it meant
I had to go earlier that I wanted to. The Arc was always the aim for Found. She is always at
her best in the autumn. The triple for the stable is fantastic. It's something really special, like
Frankie's Magnificent Seven at Ascot.”
Michael Tabor (owner):
“It is just incredible. Aidan O'Brien has done something that I didn't think was possible! What
a performance from the trainer, and what a performance from Found, who is such a consistent
filly, even after a long year. She seems to get better with each race.
I'd like to thank Michael Bell. He trained Red Evie, Found's dam, and it's thanks to him that
we bought her, and she gave us Found. Found has been second a few times this year, but she
was never disappointing. She was already a very good filly before she won the 'Arc'. We
having decided on anything yet for her future. We will just enjoy the moment for now. Aidan
and the filly will tell us if she'll run again this year. Nothing's decided for next year either. She
could run in the Breeder's Cup, but we just want to enjoy this before thinking about the future.
The three horses are all by Galileo, just underlining that he's the best stallion in the world.”

“What a horse! What a horse! Siljan's Saga didn't have her ground, but what a performance
she gave us! It's fantastic! In Deauville, I was already happy with her because she was only 70
per cent. Today, she gave 100 per cent. She was more calm than she usually is, too. She has a
heart bigger than she is. She didn't get too much of a run at it in the stretch, and her fourthplace finish is really good.”
Postponed (5th)
Roger Varian (trainer):
“First we have to digest this unpleasant surprise. The horse got a good jump and was quickly
in the thick of things, but he had to move three-wide. At the top of the stretch he was on the
wrong leg and he never gave the finishing kick he needed. I hope he comes out of the race
OK.”
One Foot In Heaven (6th)

“In the photo finish One Foot In Heaven was just sixth behind Postponed. It was great race
and a fantastic performance from the horse. It's not a huge surprise as the horse had worked
very well in the morning.”

“The horse was stressed in the starting gate. He never was breathing well because he was
tense. He made some progress on the outside, but in the home stretch he downed his tools
pretty quickly.”
