Admiral William O. Studeman, USN (Ret.) Bill Studeman retired in 2005, from Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) as Vice President and Deputy General Manager of Mission Systems (NGMS) (now consolidated into NGIS), a $5.2B annual revenue Sector (formerly part of TRW) focused on System Integration/ System Engineering of large complex systems. In this position, he focused on strategies, programs, business development, marketing related to Intelligence and Information Warfare, as well as corporate cross-Sector integration, and on managing technology partnerships and concepts related to Net Centricity/Cyber matters, ISR, IO/IW and advanced command environments. He served in this position for approximately 9 years, and has continued as an NGC consultant. Admiral Studeman was born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1940, and was raised in Coral Gables, Florida. He holds a BA in History from the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, and an MA in Public and International Affairs from George Washington University and several honorary doctorates. He is a Distinguished Graduate of both the Naval and National War Colleges. As a restricted line Naval Intelligence Officer, Admiral Studeman’s flag tours included: OPNAV Director of Long Range Navy Planning, Director of Naval Intelligence, Director, National Security Agency, and Deputy Director of Central Intelligence and the CIA (with two extended periods as Acting Director of Central Intelligence/CIA). As DDCI, he served in both the Bush I and Clinton Administrations under DCI’s Bob Gates, Jim Woolsey and John Deutch. Admiral Studeman retired from the Navy in 1995 after almost 35 years of service. Admiral Studeman has served on corporate boards, and government, university and corporate advisory boards. He was a Commissioner on the Presidential Commission on WMD, and is currently serving on National Archives Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB). He is also a member of the DNI Senior Advisory Group, NGA Advisory Group, NRO Gold Team, Chairman of the SECNAV Advisory Panel, Chairman of the Sandia National Lab Intelligence Advisory Panel, JIEDDO Senior Advisory Board, Center for Naval Analysis Defense Advisory Council, advisor to DIA DT and other advisory boards. ADM is also the Chairman of the Board of the Naval Intelligence Foundation. He is also the recipient of the 2007 INSA “William Oliver Baker Award” and the AFCEA 2007 Distinguished Service Award for Intelligence Community support. Admiral Studeman is married to the former Diane Jeans of Milford-on-Sea, UK. The Studeman have three children: Dr. Kim Studeman of Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, CDR Mike Studeman, USN (Intelligence Specialist and N-2 on STRIKEGRU 8 Staff embarked in the USS Eisenhower Strike Group and recent White House Fellow), Norfolk, and Kate Studeman doing SETA support for DOD agencies.
