Angelo Debarre est
d’origine manouche. A 8 ans il
commence à jouer de la guitare,
à 13 ans il accompagne Raphaël
Fays, puis se tourne vers la
batterie avant de former en 1984
avec le contrebassiste Bernard
Malandain le premier “Angelo
Jazz Quintet “. En 1985 c’est l’un
des piliers de la Roue Fleurie,
célèbre cabaret parisien tenu par
le guitariste Serge Camps. C’est
à partir de ce moment qu’Angelo
Debarre effectue de nombreuses
tournées en Suède, Norvège,
Hongrie,Tchécoslovaquie avec des
musiciens tsiganes comme Petro
Ivanovitch, la chanteuse Raya,
le groupe Arbat… On retiendra
parmi ses prestations le Festival
de Samois, le Festival Django
Reinhardt d’Oslo en 1989, 1993 et
1997, le North Sea Jazz Festival à
La Haye en 1990…

Moreno est né en 1963
à la frontière franco-allemande,
manouche de l’Est, il a passé
sa jeunesse à voyager entre
l’Alsace et les Saintes Maries
de la Mer. En observant ses
trois frères guitaristes, Moreno
devient très vite doué.
Il fait ensuite la manche dans
les petits cafés de Toulon et
y rencontre Tchan-Tchou. Il
décide alors de rester à Toulon,
s’installe dans une caravane
et accompagne le guitariste
pendant 4 ans. Fier de ses racines
de l’Est, Moreno gardera ensuite
cette influence “sudiste“ du
guitariste qu’il considère encore
aujourd’hui comme son maître.

Angelo Debarre is of Manush Gypsy origin. He began playing
guitar when he was 8, and was accompanying Raphaël Fays when he
was 13. Then he began playing drums, and in 1984 organized the first
«Angelo Jazz Quintet» along with bass-player Bernard Malandain. In
1985 he was one of the main musicians of La Roue Fleurie, the famous
Parisian cabaret run by guitarist Serge Camps. During this time, Angelo
Debarre also began a number of concert tours to Sweden, Norway,
Hungary, and Czechoslovakia, with other Gypsy musicians such as
Petro Ivanovitch, the singer Raya, and the group Arbat. Notable among
such venues have been the Festival of Samois, the Django Rheinhardt
Festival of Oslo (1989, 1993, 1997), the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the
La Haye Festival in 1990, among others.
Moreno was born in 1963 near the French-German border.
An eastern Manush Gypsy, he spent his youth travelling between
Alsace in eastern France, and Saintes-Maries de la Mer in the south.
His talent revealed itself when he learned to play by watching his
three brothers play guitar. He began to play by passing the hat in
small cafés in Toulon, where he met up with guitarist Tchan-Tchou.
He then decided to stay in Toulon, living in a mobile home and
accompanying Tchan-Tchou for 4 years. Proud of his eastern roots,
Moreno nevertheless retains some of the «southern» influence of this
guitarist, whom he regards as his teacher.
