QUÉBEC CITY COMICCON 2015 PRESENTED BY TÉLÉTOON LA NUIT
THE RETURN OF HEROES AND VILLAINS!
(August 12, 2015) – On October 17 and 18, heroes from a myriad of fantastical worlds will once again converge at
the Québec City Convention Centre for the highly anticipated second edition of the Québec City Comiccon,
presented by Télétoon la nuit. Over 12, 000 fans are expected to attend. The popular host of the radio shows 4h11
(Pirate Radio) and Le délire à Marto (NRJ 98.9 Québec) MARTO NAPOLI has been named spokeperson for the
event. It is the ideal place for fans of pop-culture showcasing artists and products from entertainment genres like: Scifi, Horror, Anime, Gaming in all its forms, and, of course, bande dessinées and comic books.
Creators and celebrities are always enmeshed with Comiccon, and our initial 2015 line-up for the provincial capital
brings in huge proportions. LOU FERRIGNO launched himself into stardom when he earned the role of the title
character in the hit television show The Incredible Hulk – and he has been a larger-than-life personality in Hollywood
and beyond ever since. At age 21 he became the youngest winner of the Mr. Universe title in its history, winning it a
second time at age 22, Ferrigno has become synonymous with health, strength and entertainment and has forged an
‘Incredible’ career that has involved numerous appearances on the late night talk shows, major news programs and a
variety of films, including the English-language voice of The Hulk in the highly successful 2012 film The Avengers.
In addition, we will shine the spotlight on the legendary wrestler, the HONKY TONK MAN, WWF Intercontinental
Championship for record 64 weeks.
A huge part of the convention will be the ability for fans to escape and dress up as their favorite heroes, also known
as cosplay. The practice has become so popular, producing professional cosplayers, such as Quebec City’s own
MARIE-CLAUDE BOURBONNAIS, a costume maker, designer and model that has been cosplaying for several
years and was commissioned to produce seven complex outfits for the successful web series Heroes of the North, for
which she plays a villainous character, Hornet .
Fans are encouraged (but not obliged) to come dressed as their favorite pop culture characters, be they from movies,
TV, video games or comics. After a successful costume contest, the second edition of Québec City Comiccon is
proud to bring an official Masquerade on Saturday afternoon. This big costuming competition brings in judges and
fans from across the continent, with many costumed competitors that have built their own costumes, and close to
1000 fans to cheer them on when they hit the big stage.
In terms of comic book / BD creators, our first guest announcement is award-winning Bédéiste MICHEL
FALARDEAU. Known for his varied work like the nostalgic and imagined childhood of French Kiss 1986 and the
intimate university life stories in Mertownville. His most recent entry is Le Domaine Grisloire, a fantastical tale, where
the strange inserts itself into reality, which should see the second volume before the end of the year.
The Film Music Wind Orchestra (OVMF - L’Orchestre à vents de musiques de films), comprised of 50 talented
musicians under the direction of talented conductor and arranger Jocelyn Leblanc, will help the audience (re)discover
the soundtracks of many films at the GEEK UNIVERSE concert. By travelling to different universes such as Star
Wars, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and The Avengers, the OVMF will make you live an epic concert that will bring
together all types of geeks! This concert is intended for film-music enthusiasts as well as novices who want to explore
orchestral music from a repertoire they are familiar with. Admission is included for VIP ticket holders.
Last, but not at all least, collectors of comic books, toys, cards, movies, and other fantasy memorabilia will find
themselves in paradise, surrounded by passionate retailers, who might just hold in their crates the precious missing
pieces of a beloved collection.
The Québec City Comiccon website will be regularly updated with additional guests in the weeks and months leading
up to the event, as well as information on panels, autograph sessions, celebrity photo ops and other events. Fans will
be able to purchase autographs from their favourite international star, and have it immortalized on a chosen 8X10
glossy photo or other memorabilia. Once a day, celebrities will participate in scheduled photo ops, where fans can
pose and commemorate the moment for years to come. Photo Ops will go on pre-sale a few weeks before the event.
The Québec City Comiccon will take place at the Québec City Convention Centre, from October 17-18, 2015. Tickets
are available now online, with single day tickets, Weekend tickets, as well as, VIP and Deluxe packages and the
brand new Family Package (valid for two adults and two kids). Please, visit www.comicconquebec.com for details
and updates.
