INFORMATION DESK page 5 /20 ALCIDES NIETO PATIÑO VELODROME: Alcides Nieto Patiño Velodrome is considered one of the best in the world. Is located south of Cali in Sports Jaime Aparicio Drive, next to venues like the Coliseum and Billiards Bolo, Coliseum El Pueblo, the Patinódromo Mundialista, the BMX track and Plaza de Toros. The track was built in 1970 by the famous architect Herbert Schürmann known as the world’s most experienced velodrome and cycle-track designer. More than 125 tracks have been designed by the Schuermann Family all around the world. It has a gigantic cover 11,700 square meters and a sensational head-wood-the only country, coveted by domestic and foreign riders looking to improve their records. The Velodrome has been enhanced to host the 2014 UCI World Track Cycling Championships, this venue has hosted important events like the 1971 Pan-American Games, 1996 Pacific Ocean Games, the UCI Track Cycling World Championships 2014 and has been the home for 12 World Cups from 1996 to 2002, and then from 2008 to 2012 and now the 2015 Track World Cup. Technical characteristics of the track: LENGTH: 250 meters WIDTH: 7meters ❍ SURFACE: Wood – Abarco (indoor) ❍ BEND: Max 46º, 24’, 34’’ ❍ STRAIGHT: Max 11º, 35’, 40’’ ❍ CIRCUMFERENCE AT FENCE: 285 meters ❍ ❍ page 6 /20 EQUIPMENT STORAGE Each team representative will receive a storage room key at the bikes arrival to the velodrome. Each team will have to give a USD$30 dollars deposit for the storage key. This money will be given back at the end of the event when the team returns the key. The storage rooms will be located under the stands. TRACK CENTRE BOXES Track Centre Boxes will be available since Tuesday 13rd at 9:00 a.m. The boxes are allocated in the in the track centre taking into account the size of each team. FIRST LEVEL Most of the team facilities, UCI Office, Commissaries’ Office and several bathrooms are located at the first level. They can be accessed throw the infield area. SPORT INFORMATION DESK This info desk will be in the infield next to the warm up area, it will be your primary information source, providing the following: ❍ Event Information ❍ Communiqués ❍ Keys for teams containers ❍ Training schedules ❍ Transport schedule ❍ Meal times at the hotels ❍ Lost and found INTERNET CONNECTION AT THE VELODROME There will be a Wi-fi connection (high speed) inside the Velodrome, where the teams can get the Swiss timing information in actual time and high speed internet access. This service is free of charge. KIOSKS During competition times, you can buy food and beverages on the second floor of the Velodrome at the different kiosks. The payment should be done in cash Colombian Pesos (Cop) or in US Dollars. Exchange Rate 1 USD = 2600 page 7 /20 There will be a coffee stand and mineral water bottles, in the infield area. It will be free. RIDING IN THE VENUE Helmets should be worn at all times while the training sessions and competitions on the track. It is forbidden to ride bicycles on the Velodrome Corridors. ACCREDITATION: Accreditations will be released to teams in each official hotel directly once all the payments are made. Access to the track centre and team pit areas after 27th October is not possible unless accreditation is displayed. page 8 /20 SPORT INFORMATION OFFICIAL MEETINGS CONFIRMATION OF STARTERS Thursday 29 th October – 10:00 until 12:00 Venue: Velodrome Alcides Nieto Patiño, of. 71. Due to the hight number of teams entered, we request a maximum representation of two people per team attend the meeting. RIDER NUMBERS will be distributed in the Team Managers meeting. The UCI will be issuing training regulations that the Commissaires wil be enforcing. Teams who breach these regulations will be reported to the Chief Commissaire and may be sanctioned. Copies of the training regulations will be available for collection from “Sports Information Desk” The track will be available for for official team training on Tuesday 13th,Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th in the morning. During competitions the track will open 2 hours before qualifying sessions for riders competing on the day. For the final session on Saturday the track will reopen once spectators have cleared the venue. On Sunday there is only a minimal break between sessions and therefore any track time available will be very limited. SHUTTLE BUSES There will be shuttle buses for delegations traveling from the official hotels to Velodrome. From January 13th to January 18th. They will be marked with the name of the hotel and the event official logo. The schedule will be put on the lobby of the official teams hotels. page 10 /20 MEDICAL SERVICES A team of doctors and paramedics will be present throughout official trainings and competitions. The Organizing Committee guarantees first aids and immediate attention at the velodrome. If there is any need of a higher level attention, the rider will be taken to “Clínica Imbanaco” to be stabilize and put in position to receive DEFINITIVE care attention, in Cali, or in his/her country, at the discretion of the team coach or the team doctor, who will be informed in order to make all the necessary arrangements for the insurance policy. In case of insurance companies working under reimbursement, the person responsible of each delegation shall assume the payment (credit card or cash) and collection procedures of medical services covered by his/her insurance company to obtain the corresponding reimbursement. There will also be a fully equipped ambulance for evacuation of injured riders to “Clínica Imbanaco”. There will also be an extra ambulance in case of need. The OC has signed a contract with the “Clínica Imbanaco” to assist any rider who suffers any accident. This clinic is located twelve blocks from the Velodrome. This includes meals, any kind of packages neither advertising of any kind and so on. m Do not take taxis by yourself, ask for a called taxi. When you get into the cup, write down the plate. m Change your money at authorized places like banks, hotels or exchange places. m Do not give you documents to persons at the street, unless they are Police Officers or Military Officers. They should be plenty identifying to you by uniforms and batch. m Do not ask any person on the street, it is better to be guided by a police, trusted individuals or people who work in the hotel. m Keep an eye on your credit cards and documents when you use them to pay. m Do not accept help from strangers, to make transactions at the ATM machines. mCarry a photocopy of your personal documents in your wallet. Not originals. m If you are leaving, tell your hosts about their output or otherwise to the reception. m If you want to visit places of interest, it is recommended in groups and by vehicle. mDo not needlessly display your hotel Guest room keys in public or carelessly leave them on restaurant tables or other places where they can easily be stolen. Do not give your room number or check out date to anyone. m When returning to your hotel late in the evening, use the hotel´s main entrance. m Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive objects such as jewelry.
