WARNING—OVERSPEED PROTECTION The engine, turbine, or other type of prime mover should be equipped with an overspeed shutdown device to protect against runaway or damage to the prime mover with possible personal injury, loss of life, or property damage. The overspeed shutdown device must be totally independent of the prime mover control system. An overtemperature or overpressure shutdown device may also be needed for safety, as appropriate. Service Pack installations are not allowed if an application is currently running on the control. This Process is for one RTN module at a time. If your system has multiple RTN modules, please repeat this process for all module. 1. 2. 3. 4. Connect to the MicroNet™ Plus control via AppManager and stop all running applications. Set the computer that will be connected/communicating to the RTN modules to a fixed IP address of 172.16.100.2 and a sub-mask of 255.255.0.0. Remove the RTN module from the chassis. Remove the RJ45 (Ethernet) plug from port 1 of the RTN module (see Figure 1). Figure 1. Remote RTN Module Woodward 1 Service Pack for MicroNet Plus RTN Module 5. Application Note 51297 Note the switch settings on the RTN module, so you can set them back to their original positions after the Service Pack is installed. Set the module configuration switches to the CPU, Main Chassis configuration (see Figure 2). Figure 2. RTN Module Switch Settings 6. Install the RTN module into the chassis. 7. Plug in an Ethernet cable to Ethernet port 1 of the RTN module, and plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the computer that was set with the fixed IP address (from step 2). Start AppManager. 8. Once the RTN module has booted, it will appear on the AppManager controls list. Highlight the RTN module. NOTE The RTN module will have IP address 172.16.100.1. 9. Select the Install Service Pack command, and a dialog box will be displayed asking the user to select the Service Pack filename. 10. Press Open to start the installation. The file will be copied to the control and executed. Status information will be shown in the Status Message Window. 11. When the Service Pack has been successfully installed, the user will be prompted to reboot the control. Select the Yes button. If there were any errors during the Service Pack installation, they will be displayed in the Status Message Display Window. 2 Woodward Application Note 51297 Service Pack for MicroNet Plus RTN Module 12. Once the RTN module has booted properly, it will appear on the AppManager controls list. Double click on the control to view the controls information. Verify that the Foot Print shows the correct footprint number and revision: • 5503-335, 5503-336 will show 5418-2408 C • 5466-1035, 5466-1036, 5466-1037 will show 5418-2566 B 13. Unplug the Ethernet cable from Ethernet port 1 of the RTN module. Reinstall the Ethernet port 1 plug back into the RTN module. 14. Remove the RTN from the chassis and set the module configuration switches back to the original configuration (see Figure 2). 15.
