Windows 8 and 8.1 Firewall Users:
NOTE: If the User Account Control screen appears, type your administrator username
and password and then click YES.
1. First check your network location.
a. Move your mouse to the lower left corner of the Desktop or Start screen.
b. Right-click the screen and then left-click Control Panel.

c. Click System and Security => Windows Firewall => Network and Sharing
Center.

d. Check your network location which is shown in the View your active networks
section.

2. Disable the Firewall settings.
a. Click the Back Arrow to return to the Windows Firewall screen.
b. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.

c. For your network location, choose Turn off Windows Firewall (not
recommended), and click OK.

NOTE: To re-enable the firewall, repeat the previous steps, but choose Turn on Windows
Firewall (recommended) and then click OK.
Windows 7 Firewall Users:

2. Verify that Off (not recommended) is selected. If not select it and click OK.

Windows XP SP2 or Greater Users:
1. Click Start => Control Panel.
2. Double-click Windows Firewall.
3. Within the General tab, verify that Off (not recommended) is selected. If not select it
and click OK.
NOTE: To re-enable the firewall, repeat the previous steps, but choose On
(recommended) and then click OK.
Windows XP SP1 Users:
1. Click Start => Control Panel.
2. On the left side of the window right-click My Network Places and then click on
Properties.

3. You will now see the network connections. Right-click Local Area Connection then left
click on Properties.
4. Click the ADVANCED tab under Internet Connection Firewall and verify that the box
next to Protect my computer… is unchecked. If the box is selected, click the box to
remove the check and then click OK.
NOTE: To re-enable the firewall, repeat the previous steps, but place a check in the box
next to Protect my computer… and then click OK.
