S
ince it was created in 2003 by Cédric Hingouët , ‘Scopitone and Company’
has been performing for all types of audiences nationally and internationally
throughout Europe. Using puppets, objects and human performers they have
entertained in streets, parks, squares, site-specific venues and theatres. However they
are most renowned for making small theatre spaces in customised caravans and adapting
children’s fairy tales from old 45 RPM records, creating an intimate atmospheric
environment that can perform anywhere.
The first tale, “Little Red Riding Hood” was created in 2002 in Aurillac, and toured extensively throughout Europe. Due to its success 5 others have taken to the
roads, “Sleeping Beauty”, “The Little Match Girl”, “Blue Beard”, “Beauty and
the Beast ” and most recently “ Puss in Boots ” and are collectively known as
Ze Patrecathodics. The stories are originally in French, but have been translated
into English in 2009 allowing the caravans to cross many borders!
In 2005 the company produced its second show, “Kamikaze?” again using puppets
and objects but this time designed for an adult audience using very little text, and created
to perform in theatre friendly spaces. It was written, performed and directed by Cédric
Hingouët and first performed at the Boufou Théâtre in Hennebont, Brittany. Since its
inception it has toured in France, Belgium and England (amongst other countries) in
festivals such as “Festival Méliscènes” march 2006, “Festival International de Charleville”
in September 2006 and “Festival les Plans d’Avril” in Paris in April 2008 to name but a few.
The most recent project however is “Juliette + Romeo = AESD”. It was created in
«Maison Folie Moulins» at Lille. in October 2013. Scopitone proposes a modern and
purified version of the fabulous history of the lovers of Vérone thanks to the theatre of
objects.
Since 2005 the company has received funding from Conseil Regional de Bretagne,
Conseil General de Morbihan and DRAC.

Blue Beard
The Little Riding Hood
A plastic pastel record player, furious rhythms,
mother’s cakes and a pin-up Red Riding Hood. A
‘televised’ performance by warped puppets and a
blasé presenter.
Finally a Little Red Riding Hood for big kids! A presenter
soft in the knees, a mechanical wolf, a little girl desperately
gawky and a 60’s soundtrack inimitably revealing side B of
the famous story by Perrault.

Performance with a television presenter and warped Puppets.
This Christmas
The traders sell chestnuts, lobster, records, and booze,
turkey, cigars, garlands and shoes....
Whilst the matches,
With unseen warmth,
Tempt the wee lass.

Blue Beard
A televised performance of twisted puppets and oily mechanics.
Who am I?
- I am a belligerent man, and filthy rich.
- The key to my office can’t be cleaned when it falls.
- My last princess was the sister of a woman named Anne.
-And finally, I have a beard of brutish blue.
