Local business expands to offer Spa Services
quarters would not
have been practical.
Another advantage
was the proximity to
the sauna and showers
at the motel.
The move took
place in mid-March
and since then
Kathleen has been
busy searching for the
right products and
taking steps to start
practicing.
Spa services
are based on soft
relaxing music where
the focus is totally on
the client.
Gentle strokes
with a brush exfoliating and breaking up
your cellulite, warm
mud on your skin,
being wrapped in a
cocoon of plastic,
heating and wool
blankets, then taking a
hot shower, sitting in a
sauna, sipping on wine
or tea followed by a
wonderful deep tissue
massage melting away
all your tension and
knots will definitely
transport you in a
different dimension
forgetting altogether
your problems and
even forgetting where
you are.
If you think this
sounds too good to be
true or that you have to
be on a cruise or on an
exotic island to experience this, think again.
It's all available in
Chapleau thanks to this
local entre-preneurs'
will and fortitude to
offer top notch services
only available in major
centres.

A
local entrepreneur has
decided to
expand and offer new
services to it's
clientele.

Meadows Resort in
Timmins. While at the
Resort Kathleen had a
massage and a mud
wrap at the newly built
Spa. Her experience at
their Spa was so
amazing, that she came
back excited to talk to
Roger and Allison
Perreault, her landlords and owners of
Aux Trois Moulins
Motel about the possibility of expanding her
business and creating a
Spa on a smaller scale
in their establishment.
In spite of the
current economy
Kathleen felt there was
a need for Spa Services
in Chapleau. "Many
clients already
jokingly call my
business The Spa of
Chapleau" said
Bouchard. "So why not
actually make it
happen". she adds.
In sharing her
vision with the couple
she suggested that a
small step forward
could be taken by
trading rooms with the
existing housekeeping
quarters which was a
bit larger and brighter
and had ceramic tiles
for flooring. The new
mud wraps can get

On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, the local OPP and the students and staff
of Chapleau High School participated in a sports triathalon to raise
money for The Autism Society. Volleyball, basketball, and floor
hockey were the sports of choice with special draws for a chance to
shoot a basket or score a goal held between the games. At the end of
the evening, the teams proved to be fairly even (thanks to some of the
students taking their skills over to the side of the OPP!), and after two
hours of play, even the OPP still had enough energy left for a game of
dodgeball. It was a great evening of fun with the big winner being
The Autism Society as $386.00 was raised during the evening and
throughout the rest of the week.

Arts planning session to be held May 14-15, 2009
Artists and artsbased organizations are
invited to join with
Community Arts Ontario
and De-bah-je-mah-jig
Theatre Company to help
develop greater
opportunities in
Northern Ontario. The
Breathing Northwinds
project focuses on
developing the arts
across the region by
increasing awareness,
participation, education
and employment opportunities. NORD-IK, a
community-based
research institute at
Algoma University, will
be providing coordination and support to
building a network, and
identifying training
needs and develop-ment
plans.
“The project has
essentially three stages”
said Jude Ortiz,
researcher with
NORDIK and an artist
herself. “We will first
build a database of
artists, arts organizations, institutions and
funding sources; second,
we will be conducting
strategic planning
sessions with communities; and finally we will
be hosting a conference
in late 2009”.
The project is
intended to act as a
catalyst for developing
the cultural sector in
Northern Ontario, a
sector that is rich with
potential but needs
support.
“Northern
Ontario has a distinctive
cultural identity and the
potential for growing artrelated businesses is
great” says Zainab
Amadahy, Executive
Director of Com-munity
Arts Ontario.
“Breathing Northwinds
grew out of a provincewide gathering of
community based artists
in 2007, when we
realized that Northern
Ontario needs and
deserves a chance to
realize that potential”.
The community
strategic planning
sessions aim to gather
cultural and historical
context as a starting point
for under-standing where
com-munities are at this
time. Participants first
create a time line and
then a community vision
that looks at where they
want to go. They close
with identifying com-
munity strengths on
which to build and
prioritizing some actions
supportive of their
vision.
“It is very
exciting to be working
directly with a number of
artists and arts
organizations in different
communities. They
understand their own
situations best because
they are living and
experiencing it”, states
Jude Ortiz a researcher
with NORDIK Institute
and an artist herself.
NORDIK will
be conducting strategic
planning sessions with
the following communities:
Elliot Lake- April 30
First Nation communities surrounding the
Sioux Lookout area,
May 5. Sioux Lookout,
May 6-7, Chapleau,
May 14-15, Timmins,

Zumba eliminates the "work" from "working out" by
combining amazing, irresistible Latin and international music with

While Zumba embraces all the fundamental principles of

motivates the body to efficiently burn calories, effectively tone all
muscle groups, incorporate full range of motion, and improve the
cardiovascular system.
