1. PRESENTATION
The 76th Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo will be held from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th January 2008,
timed one week later than usual, in the hope there will be a snowfall, which we missed in 2007.
The rally, which again centres around the Valence Service Park, is set out in a similar fashion to the 2007
edition, with special stages near Vals les Bains and Lamastre. Additionally, by popular demand, competitors will
then head to the Alpes Maritimes, to compete in 4 consecutive stages, on Sunday 27th January.
The first event of the competition is the Shakedown, on Thursday 24th January, from 8h00 to 12h00, which runs
for 5 km on the D21, near Vernoux-en-Vivarais, in Ardeche, with the first two hours reserved for professional
drivers.
The drivers’ Press Conference will be held in the Media Centre, in the Valence Exhibition Centre (Palais des
Expositions), on Thursday 24th January, starting in the afternoon at 13h30, followed swiftly by the official Rally
Starting, in the Place du Champ de Mars, with the first car leaving at exactly 6h00.
Two special stages run that night, near St Jean en Royans (Drôme), covering a total of 46 km. The first is SS 1:
St Jean en Royans – Col de Lachau (28.12 km), followed by SS 2: La Cime du Mas – Col de Gaudissart (17.58
km). Cars will return to Valence from 21h31.
On the morning of Friday 25th January, three special stages, each raced twice, will be held in Ardèche, near Vals
les Bains, covering a total distance of just under 60 km:
• SS 3/6: St Pierreville – Col de la Fayolle (28.50 km)
• SS 4/7: Burzet – Lachamp Raphael (16.30 km)
• SS 5/8: St Martial – Béleac (12.66 km)
There will be a refuelling point in the Volane car park, in the centre of Vals les Bains, after an obligatory
passage via Antraigues. The first driver will be expected at the Valence Service Park at 19h11.
On Saturday 26th January, there will be three more special stages, each repeated once, with slight variations
from last year’s schedule. Specifically, SS 9/12, which is again called Labatie d’Andaure – Lalouvesc, does not
follow the same route as last year, although the distance covered is almost identical, at 19.37 km. The
following stage, St Bonnet le Froid – St Bonnet le Froid (SS 10/13), 25.49 km, is unchanged, other than the
fast finish being extended by a few metres.
The third stage of the day (SS 11/14) will again start at Lamastre but at Gilhoc sur Ormèze drivers will head for
Alboussière on the D269, followed by the D369, for 21.66 km. The proximity of these stages to the Valence
Service Park means that drivers will be able to reach the service area quickly (from 16h04) and prepare their
cars for the Sunday racing.
Competitors then make their own way back to Monaco, outside of the competition, and cars are placed
overnight in the Parc Fermé on Quai Albert I, opposite the swimming pool and not far from the Automobile Club
de Monaco.
Drivers leave Monaco at 7h00 on Sunday 27th January for a mini service park located at the exit of Pont Charles
Albert bridge in Gilette, where only tyre changes and mechanical work carried out with tools carried in the car
are authorised. Stages SS 15/17 La Bollène Vésubie – Col du Turini – Moulinet and SS 16/18 Lucéram – Loda
follow on quickly, with competitors returning to the Principality at 14h00 to attend the Prize-Giving Ceremony,
in front of the Palace, on the Place du Palais Princier, which starts at 15h15.

11.3. Helicopter pilots briefing
A meeting will take place on Thursday 24th January 2008 at 14h30, at Valence Rally HQ.
12. INSURANCE
The entry fees include the insurance premium which guarantees the competitor cover, for civil
responsibility towards third parties as defined hereunder:
In conformity with the French general regulations governing sporting events and competitions on
public highway, the Organising Committee will take out an insurance policy with one or more
companies approved by the Monaco Government against accident, fire or explosion taking place
during the competition covering:
12.1. The financial consequences of civil liability devolving upon the organizers or the competitors
resulting from corporal or material damages caused to spectators, to a third party, to competitors,
however being specified :
- that concerning the stages using closed sections of publics highway, civil liability of competitors
towards each other is guaranteed only for corporal injuries;
- that civil liability of the competitor handling the steering wheel towards his co-driver is
guaranteed through the whole duration of the Rally.
12.2. The financial consequences of civil liability devolving upon the Organisers or the competitors
with regard to the representatives of the State or members of any public body attached to the traffic
authorities in connection with the organisation and controlling the event, or their legal
representatives for bodily injuries or material damages caused to them.
12.3. The financial consequences of civil liability devolving upon the State, Departments or
Municipalities through any damage caused to third parties by officials, police or military
representatives placed at the disposal of the Organisers or their material.
12.4. The general conditions of this policy will chiefly stipulate that the coverage is granted up to
amount of 15.244.902 € per accident, as far as bodily injuries are concerned. In respect of material
damage the coverage is up to 2.286.736 € per accident.
12.5. The insurance certificate must also contain a clause specifying that the insurer, in case of
accident, surrenders all claim against the state, and the departmental or municipal authorities, or
any other person connected with these authorities, in any capacity.
Rally Guide 1
www.acm.mc
13
12.6. The coverage of this insurance will extend to all French “Départements” covered by the Rally.
12.7. It will become effective, at the earliest, from the time the start is given and will continue to be
so not only during the whole of the Rally and its subsidiary events as specified in the official
program, but also during the stay of competitors in the Principality of Monaco and the department of
the Alpes-Maritimes, the Ardèche, the Drôme, Haute-Loire and Vaucluse until Sunday January 27th
2008, at 19h00.
12.8. In case of retirement, exclusion or disqualification of a competitor during the Rally, the
coverage will automatically cease at that time. The time of this retirement, exclusion or
disqualification shall be considered being the one of the closing of the following time control.
12.9. In case of an accident, the competitor or his representative must notify in writing the insurers
within 3 days at the latest.
In case of breakdown service in a S.S. or during a road section the costs will be devolved upon the
competitor.
12.10. The insurance policy mentioned in the present article does not cover the responsibility
towards third parties of any competitor not holding an international licence.
12.11. The Organising Committee declines all liability concerning the consequences for breach of
laws, regulations and ordinances by competitors in the “Départements” they cross, such
consequences being solely the liability of those who have incurred or committed them.
The Organising Committee also declines all liability concerning any cataclysm, riots, demonstrations,
etc... of which competitors and persons aboard the vehicle could suffer and of which all
consequences (material, penal and sportive) will have to be supported by these ones.
NOTA: Competitors are informed that the insurers of the Organising Committee of the “76th Rallye
Automobile Monte-Carlo 2008” are at their disposal regarding any individual insurance they would
like to take out :
ASCOMA JH - 24, Boulevard Princesse Charlotte - MC 98000 MONACO
Ph: +377 97 97 22 22 – Fax: +377 93 25 08 22.
12.12. The service vehicles, even those bearing the special plates “ASSISTANCE” issued by the
organiser, may never be considered as official participants in the Rally. They are therefore not
covered by the insurance policy of the Rally and remain the sole responsibility of their owner.
It’s the same for the cars used by the competitors for the reconnaissance, even if these cars are
bearing a serial number or a specific inscription of the event.
