LEO Pharma unveils new scientific collaboration
strategy
[3 October 2012, Ballerup, Denmark] – LEO Pharma has announced plans to
establish five long-term, strategic research collaborations in four countries
by the end of next year. The ambitious initiative aims to deliver new
treatment options to dermatology patients – faster than ever before. The
first in the series of collaborations to be announced is with Charité, one of
Europe’s oldest and largest university hospitals.
Today, LEO Pharma has revealed plans to establish five long-term, strategic research collaborations from now until the end of 2013 in Australia, France, Germany
and the US. The research will supplement LEO Pharma’s internal R&D activities.
Each collaboration will integrate discovery research and exploratory clinical trials
to an exceptionally high degree. The unique approach will enable LEO Pharma to
explore more dermatological treatment solutions at record speed – reducing the
time it takes to deliver new therapeutic options.

The scope of the scientific collaboration strategy covers skin conditions in which
LEO Pharma is already active, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis and actinic keratosis, as well as new therapeutic areas for LEO Pharma.
Exploring itch at joint institute
LEO Pharma can already reveal details of its first collaboration: establishing a joint
institute called I2DEAL, the International Institute of Dermatology and Allergy,
with Charité, one of Europe’s oldest and largest university hospitals. Here, experts
will conduct early exploratory clinical trials and explore the underlying mechanisms
of disease in allergic and itchy skin conditions. It is the first time that the Department of Dermatology and Allergy at Charité enters into collaboration with a private
pharmaceutical company to such a high degree.

those with eczema and psoriasis. Despite this, patients lack satisfactory treatment

LEO Pharma a annoncé son intention d'établir cinq collaborations de recherche stratégiques à long terme dans quatre pays d'ici à la fin de l'année
prochaine. Cette initiative ambitieuse vise à offrir de nouvelles options
thérapeutiques aux patients en dermatologie - de manière la plus rapide.
La première collaboration de cette longue série, qui sera prochainement
annoncées sera avec l'Hôpital de la Charité, l'un des hôpitaux universitaires les plus anciens et les plus importants d'Europe.
LEO Pharma a révélé ce jour son intention d'établir cinq collaborations de recherche stratégiques à long terme dès maintenant et la fin de l'année 2013 en
Australie, en France, en Allemagne et aux États-Unis. Cette recherche viendra
compléter les activités internes de R&D de LEO Pharma.
Chaque collaboration intégrera des recherches axées sur la découverte et des essais cliniques exploratoires de très grande envergure. Cette approche unique permettra à LEO Pharma d'explorer davantage de solutions thérapeutiques dermatologiques en une vitesse record – tout en réduisant les délais de distribution de
nouvelles options thérapeutiques.

Le domaine d'application de la stratégie de collaboration scientifique inclut les affections de la peau sur lesquelles LEO Pharma travaille déjà activement, notamment le psoriasis, la dermatite atopique et la kératose actinique, ainsi que de nouveaux domaines thérapeutiques pour LEO Pharma.
Exploration des démangeaisons dans un institut commun
LEO Pharma peut déjà révéler certains détails de sa première collaboration : l'établissement d'un institut commun appelé I2DEAL, l'Institut international de dermatologie et de l’allergie, avec l'Hôpital de la Charité, l'un des hôpitaux universitaires
