This year’s recipient, Calixte, was born in Haiti and moved to Brussels when he was 14 years old. After spending 4 years in Vienna, Austria he moved to the United States where he started his professional career as a banker in Chicago. Being promoted to International Auditor for a prestigious bank, Calixte had the opportunity to travel the world; it was through these travels that he decided to move into the hospitality industry. He joined Conrad Miami as Chief Concierge in 2004, when the hotel opened. He started as a Guest Relations Manager for the Intercontinental Chicago and then moved on to Miami in the same role. Fluent in six languages and member of the Clefs d’Or for two years, Calixte was previously given recognition by the Inn Key Florida Association and also awarded Concierge of the Year by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) in 2009. Francois has been serving the Southern Florida Concierge Association as a Board Member for the past 5 years and is now the Director of Community Affairs. A soccer coach and most recently a fund raiser for his native Haiti, Calixte has strong ties to the local community. Proud member of the SFCA and very worthy recipient of the Silver Plume Award, he is honored to be the 2010 Concierge of the Year.
