2 Trans’Organisation quick overview Trans’Organisation, a non-profit association, was created in 1997 in order to organize La Transjurassienne and promote the Franche-Comté Region as well as the Jura Mountains, while supporting all the parties actively involved in the event organization and Nordic skiing development. As of today, Trans’Organisation organizes 3 annual events : La Transjurassienne, la Transjeune and la Transju’trail. The association regroups the 9 ski-clubs located along La Transjurassienne track : US Lamoura, SC Prémanon, Skieurs Rousselands, SC Bois d’Amont, SC Le Brassus (Switzerland), SC Morbier-Bellefontaine-Morez, SC Mont Noir, Risoux-Club and AS Mouthe. Presided by Hervé Balland, the association includes 5 employees, strongly supported by the 45 members of the Organisation Committee. Most of all, La Transjurassienne is the result of the enthusiasm, the know-how, the availability and the competencies of its 1000 volunteers, fully dedicated to “their” Transjurassienne. When comparing the number of volunteers with the total number of inhabitants between Lamoura and Mouthe, we can draw the conclusion that practically every family of the area is involved in La Transjurassienne one way or another… and this is “the Transju spirit” ! Created in 1979 by Jacky Mandrillon and Georges Berthet, for almost 40 years La Transjurassienne has been the most important popular cross-country ski event in France : “More than 7’100 skiers challenge themselves and enjoy the magic of one our events traversing the Jura Mountains each year” affirms Hervé Balland, President of Trans’Organisation and national Nordic ski legend himself. “La Transjurassienne is also the one of the most important rendezvous on the FIS Worldloppet Cup calendar, a cup that challenges the world’s elite long-distance cross country skiers. Add that to our affiliation to the Worldloppet Ski Federation counting 20 member nations on 4 continents, it’s not surprising that we attract racers coming from 26 different countries” points out Annette Lamy Chappuis, vice-President. For this next edition, all of these skiers, surrounded by more than a thousand volunteers and many more spectators, will have one thing in mind : make a date to meet the myth in Jura and Doubs, the mountainous expanse of the newly defined Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. “For them and for the entire Massif Jurassien, La Transjurassienne represents more than any other ski event in France, an exceptional and unique festival of events” expresses William Trachsel, Trans’Organisation’s general coordinator. A simple reason for this enthusiasm : Identity It’s simply an event that everyone can identify with … First of all, there is identifying with the sport. There’d be no Transjurassienne without that visceral passion for Nordic skiing. The complete Program of la Transjurassienne 2016 : Wednesday, January 20 , 2016 : > La Transjeune (Les Rousses) Friday, February 12 , 2016 : > Bib distribution and Nordic Show (Morez) Saturday, February 13 , 2016 : • Saturday’s Classic events : > La Transju’classic (56 km between Les Rousses and Mouthe) > La Trans 25CT (25 km between Chapelle-des-Bois and Mouthe) > Bib distribution and Nordic Show (Morez) > Espace ludique Transju’ - animations (Mouthe) Sunday, February 14 , 2016 : • The Mythic Sunday events : > La Transjurassienne (68 km between Lamoura and Mouthe, Stage of the FIS Worldloppet Cup) > La Transju’Marathon (48 km between Les Rousses and Mouthe) > La Trans 25FT (25 km between Chapelle-des-Bois and Mouthe) > Espace ludique Transju’ - animations (Mouthe) And then there’s identifying with the distance. 68 km, the longest distance in France and the third longest in the world behind the Swedish Vasaloppet (90 km) and the Italian Marcialonga (70 km), it represents a definite challenge for all cross-country skiers ! And for those who would like to start out with a slightly lesser distance there is the 48 km of the TransjuMarathon, or the 56 km of the TransjuClassic, all of which offer a unique challenge and are far from being a lesser challenge : isn’t the 50 km cross-country event one of the most reputed Nordic events of the Olympic Games ? ... Identifying with the decor is big. Participating in La Transjurassienne is the perfect occasion to discover, to rediscover and to come into harmony with the magnificent scenery of the Jura Mountains described as eloquent, soft, rolling and varied ... almost human in quality. Finally, there is identifying with the unique atmosphere, “the Transju spirit” ! No other event inspires as much excitement and enthusiasm from the public who are present all along the course, along the feeding stations and the villages traversed to warmly encourage the participants. Ask any competitor, the clamor of the public works magic to carry them to the finish line! > CT = Classic Technic > FT = Free Technic (skating) For more information and registration : www.transjurassienne.com THE EVENTS THAT MAKE LA TRANSJU’ Sunday FEBRUARY 14, 2016 La Transjurassienne : 68 4 km FT between Lamoura and Mouthe La Transjurassienne 68 km FT is the king event in February ! A few new ingredients will add up to the 2016 tasty recipe that only the heartiest skiers will savor to the very end ... For the competitors : Again this year, the event will be on the FIS WORLDLOPPET CUP agenda (formerly named the FIS Marathon Cup). 4 1 For the romantic skiers : What could be better to do on Saint Valentine’s day than “Lamour-à-Mouthe”, a pun that can be translated as “Making love in Mouthe” ? For the nostalgic skiers : 2016 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hervé Balland’s second and last victory. This was in 1996 and he reached the podium in the company of Stéphane Passeron (GAP) and Silvano Barco (ITA). 5 7 2 3 6 8 Direction PONTARLIER FRASNE D45 1 • The first climb to La Frasse (Forêt du Massacre), right after the start : the key here is to find the right pace among the crowd of competitors ... A unique combination in France that celebrates both youth and skiing ! Aged 7 to 19, these children and teen-agers will meet at the Collège du Rochat to compete or simply enjoy a nice day of cross-country skiing with their school or club mates, family or friends ! These 24 events organized in partnership with UNSS and USEP (12 categories for girls and boys) offer distances of 1, 2, 3 or 6 km. The accompanying adults and children are also welcome and encouraged to participate in the side-activities in the recreational area: cross-country ski initiation led by Prémanon CNSNMM and Les Rousses ESF, a “ski-cross” zone for the most reckless skiers, games and contests on the partners’ stands, all in the presence of the unforgettable Rouxy, Les Rousses’ mascot ! Registration is free for primary school children whose schools are affiliated with USEP, provided they register through USEP. Registration is free for high school children whose schools are affiliated with UNSS, provided they register through UNSS. Registration is free for children holding an FFS ski-club license, either through their club or individually. All other children may register individually; they just need to get an FFS daily participation pass. > All you need to know about la Transjeune 2016 : www.transjurassienne.com/les-courses/transjeune/presentation-1-452.htm Parcours 2016 8 THE EVENTS La Transju’Classic : 56 km entre Les Rousses et Mouthe The Transju’ Challenges THAT MAKE LA TRANSJU’ BONALDI Sergio DABUDYK Aurélie CHAUVET Benoît GOLAY GEYMOND Florence Unconventional and unique, La Transjurassienne logically attracts unique athletes ... for more and more die-hards, men and women alike, one Transju event isn’t enough ! The UltraTrans was created just for them ! A combination of Saturday’s Transju’Classic (56 km) and La Transjurassienne (68 km) on Sunday - a total of 124 km in 2 different techniques, in two consecutive days ! A demanding challenge requiring exceptional physical condition, courage and determination; a challenge that 149 men as well as 13 women took on last year ! ... don’t make the mistake of thinking that the UltraTrans is only reserved for youngsters ... the oldest finishers of this challenge were 67 years young (Jean-Yves Corlay and Pierre Poux) ! Another unique challenge picking up in popularity is the “Défi Ski/Trail Transju’”. A feat that connects winter and summer bringing together athletes who participate in La Transjurassienne (68 km, the 48 km FT or the 56 km CT) AND the Transju’trail (72km or 36 km) ! 73 participants took on this crazy feat in 2015, including 5 women... Many of the Transjurassienne events count as official stages events for major national and international circuits: la FIS Worldloppet Cup (see the following page), le Marathon Ski Tour (the French Ski Federation circuit including 12 national long-distance cross-country events), le Nordic Classic Tour (a Franco-Swiss classic cup created by Nordic Magazine) and the Ski Tour Montagnes du Jura (a regional long-distance circuit). 9 2015 2015 2015 MOUGEL Adrien MESSENGER Karen • • • • • • • • • • • • • • PRIZEWINNERS of the last • • • • • • • • • • • • • • ULTRATRA NS 2015 2015 PERRILLAT-COLLOMB Christophe CARREZ Céline DEVILLAZ Sacha GRENARD Renée 2015 MAIGNANT Yann EYDER Cécile • • • • • • • • • • • • • • PRIZEWINNERS of the last • • • • • • • • • • • • • • DÉFI SKI/TRA IL TRA NSJU 2015 2015 LALLEVÉE Guillaume COUPAT Elisabeth MILLEREAU Jérémie BICOVA Karolina 2015 GUYON Arnaud FINANCE Caroline • • • • • • • • • • • • • • PRIZEWINNERS of the last • • • • • • • • • • • • • • MARATHON SKI TOUR 2015 2015 2 events for LALLEVÉE Guillaume DONZALLAZ Nicole MOUGEL Adrien LACROIX Roxane 2015 WEIBEL Jérémy BICOVA Karolina Benoît Chauvet in 2015 ! • • • • • • • • • • • • • • PRIZEWINNERS of the last • • • • • • • • • • • • • • NORDIC CLASSIC TOUR 2015 2015 BERTHET Nicolas BLONDEAU Marion CASSEZ Matthieu NICOLAS Élise 2015 BORGEOT Rémi BLANC Chloé • • • • • • • • • • • • • • PRIZEWINNERS of the last • • • • • • • • • • • • • • SKI TOUR Montagnes du Jura © Photos Eric Prost THE EVENTS THAT MAKE LA TRANSJU’ La Transju’Classic : 56 km entre Les Rousses et Mouthe Worldloppet : The World of Marathon Skiing Worldloppet is an international sports federation of cross-country skiing marathons that brings together 20 of the most prestigious cross-country events on 4 continents. The federation was founded in 1978 in Uppsala, Sweden. The aim of Worldloppet is to promote the sport of cross-country skiing through the various ski races around the world. Only one and the best race from a country can be a member of Worldloppet; representing France – La Transjurassienne became part of the Worldloppet since 1981. 130 000 skiers from 50 countries participate in one of these popular events. The 2015 Worldloppet annual general meeting (AGM) took place in the heart of the Jura Mountains in June this year, solid proof of the confidence the Worldloppet Federation holds for Trans’Organisation, represented by Annette Lamy Chappuis, vice-president of Trans’Organisation, in the Worldloppet executive committee. More than 18’000 passports have been delivered to date. All Worldloppet events reserve a special welcome for Worldloppet passport holders, in La Transjurassienne, Worldloppet passport holders start in the 2nd start wave at most and a special brunch is set up in their honor from 9am to noon on the Friday of the bib distribution weekend in Morez ... The Worldloppet Master : a unique amateur skier who has completed 10 different Worldloppet races, at least one of them on another continent: Worldloppet Gold Master after completing 10 WL main races and Worldloppet Silver Master after completing 10 WL short races. More than 4000 Masters (single or multiple) exist today including 118 French Masters. The most decorated Master in the World happens to be the Frenchman Hannes Larsson : 26 times Master, a number that signifies that he has raced a minimum of 260 Worldloppet races in his lifetime ... and at 84 years of age, he has no intension of stopping there! This summer he headed for the Southern Hemisphere to tackle the Ushuaïa Loppet in Argentina, the Merino Muster in New Zealand and the Kangaroo Hoppet in Australia! Hannes Larsson is also one of the founders of the International Association of Worldloppet Skiers (IAWLS) whose goal is to assure that the popular ski amateurs’ voice is heard by race organizers. The organization is animated by 8 volunteer administrators including the Norwegian Lars Vagle - president as well as three Frenchmen, Herve Courtine (8 time Master), Christophe Joanblanq (4 time Master) and Boris Petroff (11 time Master). Becoming a “Global Worldloppet Skiers” is yet another way of documenting your determination : as the title indicates, the goal is to finish ALL Worldloppet races ... 194 dedicated skiers have already accomplished this feat, including 9 Frenchmen ... > For more about Worldloppet and IAWLS : www.worldloppet.com / www.worldloppetskier.com 10 THE EVENTS THAT MAKE LA TRANSJU’ 11 La Transju’Classic : 56 km entre Les Rousses et Mouthe Worldloppet : The World of Marathon Skiing The FIS Worldloppet Cup : Veritable World Cup of long-distance races ! Their objective is to become an environment-friendly association to best promote their competition as well as the region. Trans’Organisation’s involvement in sustainable development include : > Reduce the production of printed documents. > Recycled or PEFC normed paper when printing is really necessary. > Local partnerships to limit transportation. > Waste reduction and management in collaboration with SICTOM du Haut Jura, SYDOM du Jura and Préval (food products packaged in large quantities to limit the number of plastic bags and boxes; Ecocup system with reusable cups at every food stand and refreshment area so that not one single plastic cup will be distributed). > Information regarding protected areas and species, especially the wood grouse (Tetrao urogallus), will be available to the participants and spectators, and a booth dedicated to the wood grouse and the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Jura will be set-up at the Nordic Fair. > Collaboration with the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Jura, the Groupe Tétras Jura and the Office National de la Chasse et de la Faune Sauvage to map out the tracks according to local environmental constraints. 12 THE 3 BACKUP-TRACKS In the event that the nominal track is not practicable, the traditional course map is susceptible to being replaced by one of the 3 following alternative tracks : • Backup track 1 : this alternative track compensates for insufficient snow or flooding between Chaux-Neuve and Mouthe. • Backup track 2 : this 50 km track offers a linear course between the Jura and Doubs departments and maintains the finish area in Mouthe. It would be activated in the event that the insufficient snow cannot be compensated with the backup track 1. • Backup track 3 : this track is mapped out at a higher elevation where natural snow is more abundant. It would be activated in the event that the insufficient snow cannot be compensated with the backup track 2. La Transju’Classic : 56 km entre Les Rousses et Mouthe LA TRANSJU’ IN HEART Strong social values ! Trans’Organisation does not take its long standing social involvement lightly and is committed to social integration of many forms : > By involving senior volunteers in the organization of our events. > By considering handicaps and adapting our organization to participants handicaps (hearing, sight or motor impairments) allowing athletes to participate in the best possible conditions: guides, distinctive start conditions for the Trans 25FT and specific prize-giving. SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMS FOR 2 ORGANISAITONS > La SAPAUDIA - Raising Awareness of Bone Marrow Donation Trans’Organisation has been standing behind La Sapaudia in their efforts to raise awareness of the importance of bone marrow donation since 2010. Each year important and famous sponsors, organization members as well as high-level athletes dress in the emblematic red check tartan, participate in La Transjurassienne and ski alongside giving support to participants fighting illness. Find out more about La SAPAUDIA : www.lasapaudia.com > SKIER POUR ELLES - Skiing for women in the fight against cancer Skier Pour Elles is animated by our 4 time winner, record woman and board member of La Transjurassienne Marie-Pierre Guilbaud who joined the adventure in 2014. Their philosophy is solidarity and physical activity in the fight against cancer. Come ski alongside “Skier Pour Elles” in La Transju 25CT they will not focus on performance, just in finishing and doing it together. Find out more about SKIER POUR ELLES : www.scdugrandvaux.fr/category/skier-pour-elles 13 PATRONAGE - CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP > TRANS’PROMO The authentic patrimony of the Jura Mountains, La Transjurassienne and the Transju’trail is above all, an amazing human adventure relying on values of solidarity, sharing and surpassing oneself ...
