has completely revised and expanded his guide to Washington’s best grapes, vineyards, wines, winemakers, and
wineries. Twice as many winery and vineyard profiles are
included. Paul has updated his tasting notes, and included
many new recommended producers. We are pleased to have
Paul visit the shops to talk wine, sign books, and entertain,
on Saturday, December 11th. (Note: the hours are different
than our regular tasting times.)

2009 Evening Land Pinot Noir
Limited Release Washington Reds
The 2009 Evening Land Pinot Noir is a blend of various
parcels of the Seven Springs Vineyard, one of the oldest and
best sites in the Willamette Valley. The wine has an exceptional French styling to it—more complex mineral and earth
notes, subtle use of new oak, and good acidity. This is not a
fruit-forward-style Pinot Noir. It is a thought-provoking wine
that shows layers of complexity. While very young, it still is a
marvelous combination with hearty fare and holiday meals.
Evening Land is upping the ante in Oregon.
We have small amounts of some of the most popular Washington reds released over the last few months. These make
great gifts for collectors and are perfect for special holiday
dinners. The supply is limited to stock on hand.

Two Great Tuscan Reds
Winemakers Alessandro Cellai of Castellare and Christian Le
Sommer of Les Domaines Baron de Rothschild-Lafite joined
forces for a project in Maremma to produce exceptional wine
with international varieties. The 2007 Poggio alla Guardia is
a blend of 45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15%
Sangioveto that has a marvelous texture and an incredibly
complex bouquet. The 2008 Le Sughere di Frassinello is a
blend of 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 50%
Sangioveto, aged in 50% new barriques that shows seductive
new oak aromas and has a glycerine-layered texture. Both of
these wines deliver complexity and textural elements that
usually cost two or three times their prices.

The return of an old favorite, Château de Vaugelas Corbières
was one of our top-selling wines last year. Many never learned
the name of the wine, but recognized the label immediately.
The wine comes from a 270-acre estate in the heart of the
Languedoc that dates to 799AD, when wine was produced
for mass at the Abbaye de Lagrasse. The new vintage 2008
Château de Vaugelas Corbières is a blend of 35% Syrah,
30% Grenache, 30% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre that is
big but supple in character. This is a fine recommendation
for winter stews.

We sell a variety of colored tissues, handmade paper bags,
and gift boxes for one and two bottles. For a fee of $1, most
bottles can be wrapped in colorful tissue paper and a ribbon placed around the neck. We offer single bottle boxes
for $1.95.
Gift Certificates in any amount are available.
Shipping
Shipping to legally approved states and UPS deliveries within
Washington can be arranged with a one week lead time. We
recommend UPS third day select or second day air for shipping during the winter months. Freezing temperatures may
affect the advisability of shipping. UPS does not guarantee
exact delivery days during peak periods. Wine shipments
cannot be left without the signature of a recipient who is
of legal age.
Please allow ample time for holiday orders to be processed.
