GEO-ICT
You have before you the overview of companies active in the geo-ICT sector.
These companies develop and implement innovative geo-data and geo application solutions for a
wide range of sectors.
This guide presents an overview of companies that offer innovative solutions and services
connected to the following areas:
- Geo-data acquisition and processing: registration of cartographic information and data
dependent on localisation (with the help of satellites, aerial photography, unmanned aerial
vehicles (UAVs) or mobile mapping);
- The analysis, processing and linking of geographic data (its purification, interpretation and
linkage to other database entries);
- Delivery and development of GIS (geographic information systems) software, support and
implementation of this GIS software;
- Development of applications from smartphones to workstations;
- Geo-services based on geo-data and position-tracking (geo-marketing, track&trace, workflow
management, etc.).
Technologically, geo-data acquisition activities have undergone further specialisation (including
LIDAR), with the data being updated more often and systematically integrated into the entire
geo-value chain.
In recent years, processing activities have developed in leaps and bounds, partly due to the demand
for complex, specific business solutions for a tremendously diverse range of sectors, like transport,
logistics, agriculture, aerospace, personal navigation tools, the environment and construction. This
development was also facilitated by the opening up of geolocalisation for the general public and by
the government’s demand for INSPIRE-related software.
GIS software has thus become an integral part of the daily activity of companies and represent a
crucial part of their workflow.
The great diversity of information carriers means that geo-ICT functionalities are integrated
into many different company-specific niches (maintenance technicians, marketing, business
development, facility management, ...)
According to Agoria (2011 figures), the private geo-ICT sector in Belgium comprised some 60
companies, which generate a combined annual turnover in excess of €335 million and offer highquality jobs to roughly 1,850 employees.

Deze sector biedt innovatieve toepassingen voor een waaier aan sectoren met de klemtoon op
geo-applicaties en geo-data.
In deze gids zal u bedrijven terugvinden die innovatie oplossingen en diensten leveren met
betrekking tot volgende domeinen:
- Geo-data acquisite en verwerking: registratie van cartografische en lokalisatieafhankelijke
gegevens (met behulp van satellieten, luchtfotografie, UAVs of mobile mapping);
- Analyse, processing en koppeling van geografische data (uitzuivering en interpretatie, koppeling
aan andere databasegegevens) ;
- Levering en ontwikkeling van GIS- (Geografische Informatie Systemen) software en de
ondersteuning en implementatie van deze GIS-software;
- Ontwikkeling van applicaties van smartphone tot werkstation;
- Diensten op basis van geo-informatie en plaatsbepaling (geo-marketing, Track & Trace, routing,
workflow management, ...).
De geo-data heeft zich op technologisch vlak verder gespecialiseerd (LIDAR, ...) , de gegevens
worden vaker hernieuwd, en procesmatig verder geïntegreerd in de gehele geo-waardenketen.
De processing activiteiten hebben zich de laatste jaren ook sterk ontwikkeld mede door de vaag
van complexe en specifieke business oplossingen voor een waaier aan sectoren zoals transport,
logistiek, landbouw, aeronautica, personal navigation devices, milieu en bouw, ; door een opening
naar geolokalisatie voor het groot publiek; en door vraag van de overheid naar INSPIRE gerelateerde
software.
De GIS-software is dusdanig doorgedrongen in de dagelijkse werking van bedrijven en vormen
tegenwoordig een cruciaal onderdeel van de workflow.
De variëteit van dragers, maakt dat “GEO-ICT functionaliteiten in veel verticale business
categorieën ( onderhoudstechnici, marketing, business development, facility management, ...) wordt
geïntegreerd.
Volgens Agoria telt de private GEO-ICT sector in België (cijfers 2011) zo’n 60 bedrijven , die samen
een jaaromzet maken van ruim 335 miljoen € en 1.850 mensen tewerkstellen in hoogwaardige jobs

Dans ce guide, vous trouverez un aperçu des entreprises qui proposent des solutions et services
innovants dans les domaines suivants :
- Collecte et traitement de données géographiques : enregistrement de données cartographiques
et de localisation (à l’aide de satellites, de photos aériennes, de drones ou de la technique du
mobile mapping).
- Analyse, traitement et regroupement de données géographique (affinage et interprétation,
regroupement avec d’autres données de la base de données).
- Livraison et développement de software SIG (Système d’information géographique) ; soutine et
misen en œuvre de ce software SIG ;
- Développement d’applications du smartphone à la station de travail.
- Services basés sur des données géographiques et de localisation (géomarketing, track&trace,
workflow management, …)
Les activités de collecte de données géographiques sont de plus en plus poussées d’un point de
vue technologique (LIDAR,…), les données sont souvent renouvelées et intégrées de manière plus
systématique au sein de la chaîne de valeur géo.
Les activités de traitement se sont elles aussi fortement développées au cours des dernières
années, en raison notamment de la demande croissante de solutions business complexes
et spécifiques pour des secteurs aussi divers que les transports, la logistique, l’agriculture, la
construction aéronautique, les outils de navigation personnels, l’environnement et la construction.
Cette évolution a de plus été favorisée par l’ouverture de la géolocalisation au grand public, et par la
demande de logiciels de la part des autorités dans le cadre de la directive INSPIRE.
Le software SIG fait donc intégralement partie de l’activité quotidienne des entreprises et représente
une partie cruciale de leur flux opérationnel.
La grande diversité des supports d’information disponibles favorise l’intégration de fonctionnalités
géo-TIC dans de nombreuses niches spécifiques à l’entreprise (techniciens de maintenance,
marketing, business development, facility management, ...)
Selon Agoria, le secteur privé des géo-TIC compte une soixantaine d’entreprises en Belgique
(chiffres 2011), lesquelles représentent ensemble un chiffre d’affaires annuel de plus de 335 millions
d’euros et offrent des emplois de qualité à quelque 1.850 travailleurs.
