MajShirleyGreenwoodwillretirefromtheRegularForceon15August2016.
2.OriginallyfromIroquoisFallsON,MajGreenwoodenrolledintheCAFinJune1987in
NorthBay,undertheROTPprogramasaLogisticsOfficer.SheattendedtheRoyalMilitary
Collegeandgraduatedin1991withaBachelorofArts(Commerce)degree.Upongraduation,
shewaspostedto8WingTrentonwhereshebeganhercareerasaFinanceOfficerworkingin
variouspositionswithintheComptrollerBranch.Duringher4yearsinTrentonfrom1991-1995,
shehadseveralopportunitiestodeploywithAirLiftCommandElementssupportingtheUnited
NationsHighCommissionerforRefugeesinCroatia,ItalyandAfrica.Workingwithasmallteam
ofoperationsandsupportpersonneloneachofthesemissionswasacareerhighlightthat
instilledapassionforlogisticssupportandteamwork.
3.In1995,MajGreenwoodwaspostedto15WingMooseJawastheLogisticsOfficerfor
431(AirDemonstration)Squadron-theSnowbirds.Thispositionwasdoublehattedasthe
DeputyCommandingOfficerwhichprovedtobeanotherfantasticopportunitytoworkwitha
smallteamofmotivatedprofessionals.
4.FollowingherpostingwiththeSnowbirds,MajGreenwoodwasthenoffto4WingCold
LakeastheDeputyComptrollerthengotmarried,startedafamilyandtransferredtotheResF
toworkmostlyClassAinvariousAdministrativerolesincludingtheEAtothe4Wing
Commander.
5.AreturntotheRegularForcein2005followedwhereMajGreenwoodwastheWingPers
ServicesOfficeroverseeingMesses,AccommodationsandotherPSPentitiesthatprovided
integralsupporttoExMapleFlag.In2007,shewaspostingtoBordentoassumeseveralkey
positionssuchas16WingComptroller,theDeputyCommandantoftheCFSALandasthe
ComptrollerforCanadianForcesRecruitingGroup.
6.MajGreenwoodhasprovidedherfinancialexpertiseinmanycapacitiesandtoseveral
organizationsovertheyears.ShededicatedcountlesshoursaspartoftheHawkOneTeam
Celebrating100YearsofPoweredFlightinCanada,theCFBBordenCentennialandseveral
CanadianArmedForcesDayandAirshows.Wellrespected,shewillbesorelymissedbythe
LogisticsFinancecommunity.Shirley,Leath,AlyssaandMelanieareremainingintheBorden
areaasShirleyhasacceptedaPublicServicepositionastheManagementAdvisoryServices
OfficerforCFBBorden.
7.MajGreenwoodhashadalonganddistinguishedcareerwiththeCanadianArmed

Ontario,etobtienten1991unbaccalauréatèsartsencommerce.Unefoissondiplômeen
main,elleestaffectéeàla8eescadreTrenton,oùelleentamesacarrièred’agentedesfinances
occupantdiversesfonctionsauseindelaDirectiongénéraleducontrôleur.Durantsesquatre
annéespasséesàTrenton,de1991à1995,leMajGreenwoodestàmaintesoccasionsaffectée
àdifférentesmissions,depairavecleHautCommissariatdesNationsUniespourlesréfugiés.À
cetitre,elleserendenCroatie,enItalieetenAfrique,oùelletravailleavecunepetiteéquipe
d’expertsetoffresonsoutienpersonneldurantchacunedecesmissions.Elledécritcette
époquecommeunpointmarquantdesacarrière,quiluiainsufflélapassionpourlesoutien
logistiqueetletravaild’équipe.
3.En1995,leMajGreenwoodestaffectéeàla15eEscadreMooseJawàtitred’officierde
lalogistiquedesSnowbirdsdel’escadron431(démonstrationaérienne).Ellechapeautealorsà
lafoisceposteetceluidecommandantadjoint,quiluipermettentànouveaudetravaillerau
seind’unepetiteéquipedeprofessionnelsmotivés.
4.LeMajGreenwoodestensuiteaffectéeàla4eEscadreColdLakecommecontrôleur
adjointavantdesemarieretdefonderunefamille.ElleseraensuitetransféréeàlaFrésoùelle
travaillerasurtoutenClasseAetoccuperadifférentesfonctionsadministratives,dontcelledeC
deCpourlechefdecommandementdela4eescadre.
5.LeMajGreenwoodeffectueunretourdanslesForcesrégulièresen2005alorsqu’elle
occupelesfonctionsd’officierdesservicesaupersonneldel’escadre,veillantaubon
fonctionnementdesmess,deslieuxd’hébergementetautresPSPpouvantfournirunsoutien
intégralauxEXMapleFlag.En2007,elleestaffectéeàBordenoùelleassumedifférentspostesclés,dontceuxdecontrôleurdegestiondela16eEscadre,decommandantadjointduCILFCet
decontrôleurduGroupedurecrutementdesForcescanadiennes.
6.Aucoursdesacarrière,leMajGreenwoodaurasumettreàprofitsonexpertise
financièredansdiversdomainesetpourdifférentsorganismes.Elleauraconsacréunnombre
incalculabled’heuresàtravaillerauseindel’équiped’HawkOnelorsdesfestivitésdu
centenairedesvolspropulsésauCanada,danslecadreducentenairedelaBFCBordenetde
plusieursjournéesdesForcesarméescanadiennesetdespectaclesaériens.Respectéedetous,
sonabsenceseferagrandementsentirauseindelacollectivitédesfinancesetdelalogistique.
