background
Michel Paradis earned his law degree from Université Laval in 1982 and was admitted to the
Barreau du Québec in 1983. That same year, he joined our Quebec City office and became a
partner in 1995.
Profile
His practice focuses on real estate law and administrative law, with an emphasis on
transportation law. Mr. Paradis also works in civil and commercial litigation. Given his particular
expertise in co-ownership law, he has been called upon to represent a large number of coownership syndicates (co-owner associations) and condominium owners (co-owners) throughout
Quebec. Professional law and the unauthorized practice of professions are also his areas of
expertise. In addition, he is a mediator and arbitrator specializing in real estate litigation.
Community
and other
involvement
Mr. Paradis is the president of the RGCQ for the Quebec City region, the largest group of coownership syndicates and condominium owners in Quebec. In 2010, he was named as an expert
by the Barreau du Québec to serve on the task force on the reform of the Civil Code of Québec
in the matter of co-ownership law, which submitted its report to the Minister of Justice in March
2011. In 2012, he served on the Advisory Committee on co-ownership for the adoption of a
legislative reform of co-ownership. He is also one of the co-founders of the Québec Coownership Council and regularly publishes articles on co-ownership law and speaks at
conferences on the subject throughout the province.
Since 1999, Mr. Paradis has been Vice-Chair of the Board of the Musée de Charlevoix and has
acted as Vice-President of and legal counsel for the Club Musical de Québec.
Mr. Paradis is a contributor to the Journal de l’habitation and Droit civil en ligne (DCL) from
Éditions Yvon Blais. He is also a lecturer at the Barreau du Québec and the Court of Quebec.
In 2002, Mr. Paradis was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for his social involvement. Since
2011, he has been listed in Best Lawyers® in Canada under transportation law.
