Interpretation in Fundy Discover the secrets of Fundy National Park with an interpreter. Every day, we offer a variety of activities to help you enjoy and understand the special character of the park. ✩ Evening Programs A Place Between the Tides What is life like in the ✩ Join us at the Headquarters outdoor theatre for an hour of entertainment and education. Each night we explore the cultural and natural history protected in Fundy for you and future generations. Presentations involve images, music, props, drama and comedy. For your comfort, wear long sleeves and long pants. Underwater Mystery Atlantic salmon and American eel are fish who use both the ocean and the rivers to survive. Join Dan and friends for an amazing adventure starring these fish. Beach Walks (duration: 1.5 to 2 hours) Rubber boots or old sneakers are recommended. Alma Beach Catch the rising tide. Meet at the Alma Beach parking lot for stories of tides and the things that live in that world between high and low tide. The Nature of Machias Seal Island Operating a lighthouse gives you lots of opportunity to observe and photograph nature. Our guest speaker, Ralph Eldridge, has been a lightkeeper for over 36 years, the last 12 on Machias Seal Island. He’ll talk about the island, the lightstations and the large seabird breeding colony there, which centres around species such as the Atlantic puffin. Arrive 20 minutes early to arrange a boat rental. Fossil Walk Everything you always wanted to know about rocks and fossils but never asked. Join Anna for a good rock hounding time. Meet at the Alma Beach parking lot. Cars will be needed. (1.5 hrs) Fundy Photo Safari - Go with a pro! Wait ‘til you show the folks back home. Local photographer, Brian Townsend, will share favourite locations as well as camera handling and composition tips. Not a children’s program but young photography enthusiasts are welcome. Limited to 15 people. Pick up free tickets at the Visitor Centre. We go rain or shine (2.5 - 3 hrs). Fundy Shorekeepers The beach is always a fun place to visit while staying in Fundy. Here’s a chance to take a closer look. Join Dan at Cannontown beach for some hands-on research as we begin to monitor the health of our intertidal zones. (2 hours) Geocache Fundy! What is geocaching? And how do I work a GPS? Angela will introduce you to the technology and the global scavenger hunt! Limited to 20 people. Pick up free tickets at the Visitor Centre. Night Walk Experience the night forest with a guide. Join Anna at the Chignecto South parking lot to explore the darker side of Fundy. Bring a flashlight. (1.5 hrs) Painting the Park Learn some simple painting techniques from Anna and Angela to capture Fundy on your canvas. Tools and materials provided. 10 years to adult. Pre-register at the Visitor Centre. (1.5 hours) Salt River Walk Where the tide flows up the river you can find the tiniest fish and the largest birds in the park. Join Angela to stroll the path beside the river. Meet at the Fundy Take-out parking lot in Alma. Bring binoculars if you have them. (1.5 hrs) Maybe we’ll go in for a coffee after the event! Squirrels in the Night Have you ever wondered how people study animals that are only awake at night? Don’t miss this chance to follow Dan and field researcher Matt Smith into Fundy’s forest in search of the northern flying squirrel. Limited to 20 people. Pick up free tickets at the Visitor Centre. (1.5 hours) Weather Watchers Fog, rain, and sun can all happen in just one day here in Fundy...and ALL of it is recorded. Join Dan and one our Park Wardens to visit Fundy’s weather station to check the weather instruments. Meet at the Visitor Centre parking lot.
