Activité 1 : Defence Agencies Document 1 : Article The Ministry of defence sur l’encyclopédie collaborative Wikipédia. Par exemple: It was established in ….. (date) - When was the Ministry of Defence established? (They have 30 millions, they have 30 million dollars). - People/Groups: veteran, a Unit, volunteer, Navy, Air Force, Army, Marine, officer, leader, civilians, recruit, reserve…. Mots présents dans la vidéo : soldier, enemy. - Verbs: help, protect, enlist, fight, wage (a war), launch (an attack), withdraw, train, target, evacuate, mobilise, hide from… Mots présents dans la vidéo : serve, deploy. - Nouns: duty, war, casualties, military base, barracks, fatigues, civil defence, retaliation, weapons of massive destruction… Exemples: - Recruits are inexperienced and they need to train. - Soldiers are usually strong and they wear fatigues. - A volunteer is an amateur soldier who is ready to deploy. Soldiers are united and show team spirit. - A brave and patriotic leader helps civilians. The Navy, the Air Force and the Army are disciplined units that serve the USA. Dans un deuxième temps l’enseignant demandera aux élèves de produire des phrases exprimant le but, en faisant manipuler in order to et so as to. Exemples: - Soldiers must be fit and well-trained to protect their country in a war. - The Army uses camouflage fatigues in order to hide from their enemies - The US launched a war on Iraq so as to find weapons of massive destructions. Activité 3 : Army Strong - The Soldier’s Creed Document 6 : Vidéo « Army Strong, Army Recruitment Commercial - The Soldier’s Creed» sur le site Youtube. Slogan de la campagne publicitaire de l’armée américaine : The Soldier’s Creed I am an American Soldier. I am a Warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values. I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade. I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself. I am an expert and I am a professional. I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life. I am an American Soldier. I am Army strong! What image does the video give of the US army? (ethnic origins, sex origins, equipment, occupations, etc.). - Do you think it is a good commercial? Why? Why not? - In your opinion, is this commercial attractive to young Americans? US) /biohazard suit /gloves / masks / breathing assistance / (The Capitol in the background - Washington DC). Puis l’enseignant demandera aux élèves: Can you give a title to the pictures? pour les orienter vers new threats, cybercrime et bioterrorism. Activité 6 : New terrorist threats - Reading Comprehension Document 9 : Article FBI - NETTING CYBER CRIMINALS sur le site Federal Bureau of investigation. Chaque groupe demande à l’autre groupe What is your text about? ou What can you say about your text? et les élèves essaient de noter le plus d’informations possible. Activité 9 : Get Ready!
