Méditerranée.
Vous arrivez ici avec votre expérience, vos attentes
et nous espérons que vous repartirez enrichis de nos
échanges pour participer à la mise en œuvre de soins de
qualite en lymphologie dans la réalité sociale, politique et
économique de chacun de vos pays. La participation de
Handicap International s’y inscrit pleinement.
Ce quatrième congrès de l’ILF célèbre la création du PFL,
Partenariat Français du Lymphoedème, framework initié
par la Société Française de Lymphologie il y a quelques
années. Elle réunit aujourd’hui, dans une structure indépendante et complémentaire, tous les acteurs du soin en
lymphologie, les patients, les professionnels et les industriels dans une réflexion nationale sur l’accès au soin de
qualité en lymphologie pour tous.
A Montpellier, deux expériences : le partage de nos
échanges avec les patients comme partenaire à part
entière, un projet d’éducation thérapeutique pour les
enfants et leurs familles qui se déroule pendant le congrès
dans un campement de vacances à quelques kilomètres
de Montpellier et qui viendront partager leur expérience.
Merci à l’ILF pour son initiative et sa confiance, merci à sa
Présidente, Christine Moffatt, et à toutes les personnes qui
œuvrent au quotidien pour son action.

Chair of the International Lymphoedema Framework (ILF)
On behalf of the ILF team I would like to welcome
you to the 4th ILF conference in the beautiful city of
Montpellier. It is a great pleasure to be co-hosting
the conference with the Partenariat Français du
Lymphoedème. We have delegates from many countries of the world and it is a particular thrill for us to be
holding a joint meeting with Handicap International
and addressing morbidity control of Lymphoedema in
developing countries. This is part of the vision of the ILF;
to truly consider Lymphoedema, as a global health
care problem. Despite the different mechanisms and
genotypes of Lymphoedema many of the clinical
problems experienced are common across the world
and we have much to learn from each other.
This conference will celebrate the developments in
care in many different countries as well as addressing the strategic approach that must be achieved
if we are to truly achieve reimbursed, evidenced
based care for patients. This is also an opportunity for
Frameworks to meet and share the experience they
have had in the last year. We are aware of the valiant
efforts of the American Lymphedema Framework
Project in undertaking systematic reviews, the first of
which will be presented within a new document at
this conference. The Japanese Framework continue
to develop the Health Service Evaluation Dataset with
the ILF. These are just two examples of the achievements. There will also be news of new Frameworks that
have begun during the last year.

Two documents will be launched at this conference as
part of our 2nd Edition of the Best Practice Series. These
focus on compression bandaging and surgery and we
hope that these will present the “state of the art” in
these areas. It is also a great delight that children with
Lymphoedema will be represented with their families
in this conference. During the week we are running a
camp for children with Lymphoedema and their families and hope to share their experience through film
with you. We hope you have a very enjoyable time
with us and enjoy the presentations, workshops and
networking opportunities. The next year will see the ILF
commence a study in outcomes of care in a number
of countries as we strive to demonstrate the clinical
and cost effectiveness of providing correct care.
It is our strong belief that this is only the way we will
achieve reimbursed and effective care.
On behalf of the ILF I would like to thank everyone for
all the huge effort that has gone into this conference
and our industry sponsors for their continuing support.
