La réalisation du nouvel aéroport a été confiée à la société
anonyme Aéroport International Blaise DIAGNE (AIBD SA)
créée en Février 2006 et ayant pour objet le financement, la
construction, l’exploitation et du développement futur du
nouvel aéroport. Ce nouvel aéroport aura pour ambition de
désengorger la ville de Dakar et de favoriser ainsi un meilleur
aménagement du territoire. A travers la construction de
l’Aéroport International Blaise Diagne, l’Etat affiche une
réelle volonté de faire du Sénégal une plaque tournante
(HUB) et une escale technique préférentielle en Afrique,
pour les trafics aériens d’Afrique, d’Europe et des Amérique.
A cet égard, il est prévu la construction d’un centre de maintenance aéronautique qui va offrir les meilleures qualités
de service tout en répondant aux meilleurs standards internationaux, tant sur le plan de la sûreté et de la sécurité que
de la qualité du service.
Situé à 45 km au sud-est de Dakar dans la région administrative de Thiès, l’Aéroport International Blaise Diagne sera
doté d’installations ultramodernes.
En effet, l’AIBD dispose d’une aérogare à deux niveaux ainsi que d’une mezzanine permettant la séparation complète
des flux arrivée, départ et transit et de six (6) passerelles télescopiques pour un accès direct aux avions.
Construit sur une superficie de 42000 m2 l’aérogare pourra accueillir jusqu’à 3 millions de passagers par an dans sa
phase initiale avec une qualité de service IATA B, 10 millions dans sa phase extensible et 20 millions dans sa phase
ultime.
L’Aéroport International Blaise Diagne dispose d’une piste principale de 3500 m x 75m, avec une précision
d’approche et d’atterrissage ILS CAT2 pouvant accueillir tous types d’avions (comme l’Airbus A380), ce qui est une
première dans l’espace ASECNA.

En 2008, en prenant la décision d’ériger la gestion des Activités Aéronautiques Nationales du
Sénégal confiée dès 1961 à l’ASECNA au titre de l’Article 10 de la Convention de Dakar en une
Agence dotée de la personnalité morale et juridique, les autorités sénégalaises ont voulu ainsi
donner à l’activité aéroportuaire, l’opportunité d’être gérée avec un statut d’entreprise à vocation
commerciale à l’instar de ce qui se fait le mieux partout ailleurs, même en Afrique.
En effet, le métier d’opérateur aéroportuaire a considérablement évolué vers une approche plus
commerciale de gestion résolument désormais tournée vers la satisfaction du passager.
Aujourd’hui, cinq ans après sa création, force est de constater que l’Agence des Aéroports du
Sénégal se positionne dans la sous-région comme un véritable operateur aéroportuaire de
référence
Ainsi l’ADS qui est devenue l’une des cinq agences majeurs du Sénégal, employant plus de 600
agents permanents exploite les neuf plateformes aéroportuaires du pays.
Au titre des perspectives définies par le Plan Stratégique et du Contrat de Performances 20132015, les ADS ont pour objectifs spécifiques d’assurer :
