Les cheiks musulmans considèrent que la femme doit se comporter et être habillé de manière à ne pas
attirer l’attention sexuelle du sex opposé. En conséquence, dans certains pays, la loi a interdit aux
femmes de se rendre dans les lieux publiques sans porter la burqua, un grand morceau de tissue qui
couvre tout le corps, dissimulant parfaitement le visage sauf les yeux cachés derrière une grille
permettant à celle qui la porte de voire.
IN cognito est un parapluie fabriqué de matière transparente ayant des motifs musulmans une
« Mousharabiyeh ». Il a été conçu pour les femmes qui n’ont plus le droit de choisir ce qu’elles vont porter
et qui ne peuvent plus supporter le port de la burqua et ses contraintes physiques.
Les petits trous dans le tissu permettent à la femme de voir à travers le parapluie sans être vu. Le
parapluie les protège donc du regard d’autrui et les autorise à marcher dans la rue, dans le centre
commercial ou dans n’importe quel lieu public sans mettre le voile.
IN cognito n’est pas une solution mais un accessoire qui aide les femmes à se sentir plus à l’aise et les
laisse deviner à quoi ressemble la vie sans les règles oppressantes qu’elles doivent suivre.

De tout temps, je trouvais de la poésie dans tout ce qui m’entoure. Enfant, j’avais de la passion pour la
poésie et pour l’écriture. De jours en jours, les mots se transformaient en lignes, les lignes en dessins et
les dessins en peinture. Aujourd’hui, ma poésie se concrétise dans mes projets dans lesquelles
j’harmonise émotions et fonctionnalité.

Islamic scholars agree that a woman should act and dress in a way that does not draw sexual attention to
her when she is in the presence of someone of the opposite sex. As a result to that, it became illegal for
women in certain countries to be in public places without wearing a Burka, a piece of fabric that covers
the entire body, obscuring the face completely, except for a grille or netting over the eyes to allow the
wearer to see.
IN cognito is an umbrella made out of transparent fabric on which is sown an Islamic pattern, a
mousharabiyeh, it’s made for Muslim women who don’t have the right to decide what to wear anymore,
who are fed up with the Burka and its physical impositions.
The small openings in the fabric allow women to see through the umbrella without being seen by others.
It protects women from the eyes of others, allowing them to walk on the street, in the mall, or in any public
place with their veil off.
IN cognito is not a solution but an accessory that helps women feel more comfortable, and gives them a
taste of what life would be without the oppressive rules they have to put up with.
Tamara Barrage
Tamara Barrage is a 22 year old student of the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA).
Having started her educational career in Interior Architecture, Tamara's fascination by detail and
technicalities, as well as her passion for inventing forms and functions, encouraged her to specialize in
Product Design.
Communicating an outgoing and hyperactive personality, her designs are characterized by a sharp, ironic
sense of humor which doesn’t disturb the practicality and comfort of her products. She defines her work
as “fun, minimalistic, and different”.

Arpy Guekjian
I've always found certain poetry in everything surrounding me. As a child, I had a passion for poetry
writing, by and by the words turned into lines and lines into drawings and later on into paintings. Today
my poetry takes form in my design projects in which I intend to harmonize emotion with functionality.
