Fort de son engagement pour la culture, vecteur essentiel de
construction sociale et de citoyenneté, la Région LanguedocRoussillon est un acteur majeur de la valorisation de l’art
contemporain. À travers ses différents équipements que sont le
Fonds régional d’art contemporain à Montpellier, le Musée d'art
moderne à Céret, le Centre régional d’art contemporain à Sète et le
Musée régional d’art contemporain à Sérignan, la Région diffuse l’art
au cœur des territoires et au plus près des populations. Ces
établissements reflètent la vitalité culturelle et le dynamisme régional
au service de la création contemporaine. Le Musée régional d’art
contemporain à Sérignan, témoin du développement et du
rayonnement de la région, a pour ambition de s’inscrire comme un
lieu d’envergure nationale et internationale. Il affirme des choix
artistiques forts, soutient des artistes régionaux et invente de
nouvelles formes de médiation à l’art. Un lieu ouvert à tous les publics
et aux partenariats innovants.
With its commitment to culture, an essential vehicle of social
construction and citizenship, the Languedoc-Roussillon Region is a
major player in the promotion of contemporary art. Through its
various facilities such as the Regional Collection of Contemporary
Art in Montpellier, the Museum of modern art in Céret, the regional
Centre of contemporary art in Sète and the regional Museum
of contemporary art in Sérignan, the Region disseminates art right
in the heart of the local areas and close to local people. These
bodies reflect the cultural vitality and dynamism that exist for
contemporary creative art work. The ambition of the regional
Museum of contemporary art in Sérignan, evidence of the region's
development and influence, is to become a place of national and
international significance. This facility asserts strong artistic choices,
supports local artists and invents new forms of engaging with art. A
place open to all members of the public and to innovative
partnerships.

Situated at the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon in the town of
Sérignan, close to the Mediterranean Sea, the regional Museum
of contemporary art is a must-see cultural and tourist attraction.
There are temporary exhibitions and permanent collections
amply accommodated in some 2,700 m2 of floor space. The
different areas of the museum offer visitors the chance to see a
rich and varied range of exhibits in a warm and friendly
atmosphere. Facilities include an exhibition room of graphic arts,
exhibition areas, a video room, a reading room, a gift and
bookshop. Activities are also organised throughout the year for
different groups of people.

installé dans la ville
de Sérignan, est un
lieu culturel et
touristique incontournable. Il présente sur 2 700 m², des
expositions temporaires et une collection permanente. Dans
l’atmosphère conviviale du musée, différents espaces offrent aux
visiteurs un parcours riche et diversifié : cabinet d'arts
graphiques, espaces d'exposition, salle vidéo, salon-bibliothèque,
librairie-boutique. toute l’année, des activités sont proposées à
destination de tous les publics.

The museum is housed in an old winery and was inaugurated in
September 2006. One area on the ground floor is dedicated to
experimental works while upstairs, generously spacious exhibition
rooms are bathed in natural light. There is a graphic art exhibition
which is almost a museum in itself, presenting a collection of
paper-based work in a softly-lit environment.

Le musée, inauguré en septembre 2006, est installé dans une
ancienne cave viticole. Un espace au rez-de-chaussée est dédié
aux projets expérimentaux. À l’étage, les salles d’exposition
présentent de grands volumes baignés de lumière naturelle. Un
cabinet d’arts graphiques, véritable musée dans le musée,
rassemble une collection importante d’œuvres sur papier dans
un espace à la lumière tamisée.
L’artiste Daniel buren, avec l’œuvre Rotation, a enserré la totalité
du musée en posant des couleurs sur l’ensemble des vitrages
créant des effets visuels à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur. Les
Femmes fatales, grande fresque de céramiques de l’artiste Erró
est installée sur la façade extérieure.
La librairie-boutique propose un large choix d’ouvrages
monographiques, catalogues d’exposition, livres d’artistes,
éditions originales, écrits théoriques ainsi qu’une sélection
de DVD d’artistes, d’ouvrages généraux sur l’art contemporain,
le design et l’architecture. Un emplacement est réservé à une
sélection originale de livres d’éveil, d’histoires et de jeux
éducatifs.
Throughout the museum, the artist, Daniel Buren, has placed
coloured panels in all the windows as part of his work entitled
“Rotation”. This creates visual effects both inside and outside the
building. There is also, “Les Femmes fatales”, a large ceramic
fresco created by Erró which is exposed on the external walls of
the museum.
The bookshop stocks a large range of monographies, exhibition
catalogues, books published by artists, first editions, theoretical
essays as well as a range of DVD’s on contemporary art and
design and architecture or on the work of specific artists. There
is also a children’s area containing a unique selection of children’s
books and educational games.

La collection du Musée régional d’art contemporain LanguedocRoussillon, composée de peintures, dessins, photographies,
sculptures, installations, propose au public un regard sur la
création des années 60 à la période la plus contemporaine.
plusieurs grands ensembles mettent l'accent sur certaines
périodes de l'histoire de l'art : paysagisme abstrait, Supports /
Surfaces, Figuration narrative, art conceptuel, scène artistique
actuelle. Une fois par an, le musée renouvelle la présentation afin
de mettre en valeur ses dernières acquisitions et de proposer un
nouveau parcours aux visiteurs.
CoLLECtIon
The exhibition collection at the regional Museum of contemporary
art of Languedoc-Roussillon comprises paintings, photographic
images, sculptures and installations which offer visitors an insight into
the most creative period for contemporary art during the 1960’s.
Several extensive collections of work emphasise certain periods in
the history of art such as Abstract Landscapes, Supports / Surfaces,
Figurative and Narrative Art, Conceptual art, and the present day
artistic scene. Once a year, the museum refreshes its exhibitions to
highlight its latest acquisitions and offer new layouts to visitors.

Le Musée régional d’art contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon à Sérignan a
pour missions de faire connaître l'art contemporain auprès de tous les publics
et de soutenir la création artistique par la programmation d'expositions. Il
présente des artistes de notoriété nationale et internationale, figures de
grands mouvements et tendances de l’art contemporain, mais aussi de jeunes
artistes, dans le cadre d’expositions monographiques, parfois rétrospectives
ou collectives, à raison de trois à six expositions par an.

From its location in the town of Sérignan, the mission of regional Museum of
contemporary art of Languedoc-Roussillon is to introduce contemporary art to all
members of the general public and to support artistic creation through a programme
of exhibitions. It not only exhibits the work of well-known national and international
artists representing the main contemporary art movements and styles but also the
work of young artists too. Between three to six monographic exhibitions are staged
each year with occasional retrospective or collective exhibitions as well.

Les enfants, après une visite du musée, sont invités à réaliser des
travaux plastiques pour leur permettre de faire preuve à leur tour
d’imagination et d’exprimer leur créativité, avant de déguster le
« goûter avec des produits Sud de France ».

L’équipe du musée accueille les enfants pour parcourir le musée
avant de réaliser un atelier qui leur permettra d’expérimenter

Le musée propose aux enfants des stages de pratiques artistiques,

art giving free reign to their imagination and creative expression

Museum staff accompany children round the exhibitions before
holding an art workshop enabling them to experiment with certain
artistic techniques.

The museum offers children the chance to take part in practical art
training courses based on different themes, sometimes with a real
artist!
