DOSSIER DE PRESSE PRESS RELEASE P R E S S I N F O R M AT I O N D O C U M E N TA Z I O N E S TA M PA CARPETE DE PRENSA BIENVENUE WELCOME WILLKOMMEN BENVENUTO BIENVENIDA Welcome to the 2008 Paris Motor Show! As it celebrates its 110th anniversary this year, the Paris Motor Show is more than ever the motor show you just can’t afford to miss. At the previous edition, more than 11,000 journalists turned out from all over the world to cover the show, which welcomed nearly 1,500,000 visitors, making it the show with the highest attendance of all shows worldwide. A T H E W O R D F R O M P R E S I D E N T These figures guarantee bumper media coverage. French and foreign manufacturers choose Paris as the venue to launch their new products and this year we are expecting to see over 90 world premières, including a host of vehicles powered by new forms of energy. The sheer quality of the stands, the improved visiting convenience, the wealth of events and the special exhibition on “Taxis from around the World” will all contribute to making the show a hit. While the Paris Motor Show perfectly captures the imaginations of all those who love cars and new technologies, the vast majority of vehicles showcased also factor in issues of safety, environment and energy saving. We extend a warm welcome to you and hope that your visit will go as smoothly as possible. To mark the occasion, we are delighted to be staging a Show brimming with new products, a record number of over 90 new products revealed as world premières, 362 exhibitors from 25 countries and a variety of events for young and old alike. A W O R D T H E F R O M G E N E R A L O R G A N I S E R Because the world is ever-changing and we have to preserve the environment, manufacturers have chosen the Paris Motor Show to unveil their new products using alternative energy including hybrid vehicles and those running on electricity, solar energy, biofuel, fuel cell technology, hydrogen, LPG, NGV and so on. All the latest innovations in this sector will be exhibited at the show. At each edition, the Paris Motor Show puts on an exhibition with a special theme. This year, it will focus on “Taxis from around the World”. 40 taxis, from 20 cities all over the world, will provide an unforgettable experience for visitors. As you are coming along in increasing numbers to this not-to-bemissed get-together of the automotive world, we will be offering an even more spacious press area, with even more of the latest technology to work in the best possible conditions. Nationwide, together with the other trade associations in the sector (the CNPA, French Council of Automobile Professions including dealerships and repairs, FIEV, the French Automotive Equipment Industries Association and CSIAM, the union of automobile and motorcycle importers in France), it always takes a proactive role in negotiations and the major automotive projects and the framework in which these operate. With its members’ support, it is involved in the major representative organisations in the economic sector, such as the MEDEF (Movement of French enterprises), UIMM (Union of Metal manufacturing and Mining Industries) and GFI (Group of Industrial Federations), as well as in specialised organisations such as URF (the French Road Federation) and GERPISA (Permanent Group for the Study of the Automobile Industry and its Employees). Worldwide, it defends French interests in the ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association) and OICA (International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers) and contributes actively to these organisations’ production of statistics. Reading this press file should, I hope, convince you of the quality of our work, carried out with the aim of providing clear insight into the automotive sector in France and throughout the world. Please do not hesitate to contact the Communication Department at the Paris Motor Show Press Office and to visit our Web site (www.ccfa.fr) for any additional information that we will be happy to supply.
