Welcome to the 2008 Paris Motor Show!
As it celebrates its 110th anniversary this year, the Paris Motor Show
is more than ever the motor show you just can’t afford to miss.
At the previous edition, more than 11,000 journalists turned out
from all over the world to cover the show, which welcomed nearly
1,500,000 visitors, making it the show with the highest attendance
of all shows worldwide.

These figures guarantee bumper media coverage. French and
foreign manufacturers choose Paris as the venue to launch their
new products and this year we are expecting to see over 90 world
premières, including a host of vehicles powered by new forms of
energy.
The sheer quality of the stands, the improved visiting convenience,
the wealth of events and the special exhibition on “Taxis from around
the World” will all contribute to making the show a hit.
While the Paris Motor Show perfectly captures the imaginations
of all those who love cars and new technologies, the vast majority
of vehicles showcased also factor in issues of safety, environment
and energy saving.
We extend a warm welcome to you and hope that your visit will go
as smoothly as possible.

This year, the Paris Motor Show is celebrating its 110th anniversary.

Because the world is ever-changing and we have to preserve the
environment, manufacturers have chosen the Paris Motor Show to
unveil their new products using alternative energy including hybrid
vehicles and those running on electricity, solar energy, biofuel,
fuel cell technology, hydrogen, LPG, NGV and so on. All the latest
innovations in this sector will be exhibited at the show.
At each edition, the Paris Motor Show puts on an exhibition with
a special theme. This year, it will focus on “Taxis from around the
World”. 40 taxis, from 20 cities all over the world, will provide an
unforgettable experience for visitors.
As you are coming along in increasing numbers to this not-to-bemissed get-together of the automotive world, we will be offering
an even more spacious press area, with even more of the latest
technology to work in the best possible conditions.
The entire organisation team is ready to support you and hopes
you enjoy the show.

N
Dear journalist friends,
E D I T O R I A L
The French automotive manufacters’ trade association (CCFA) is at
the heart of the automotive sector. Nationwide, together with the
other trade associations in the sector (the CNPA, French Council
of Automobile Professions including dealerships
and repairs, FIEV, the French Automotive Equipment Industries
Association and CSIAM, the union of automobile and motorcycle
importers in France), it always takes a proactive role in negotiations
and the major automotive projects and the framework in which these
operate. With its members’ support, it is involved in the major
representative organisations in the economic sector, such as the
MEDEF (Movement of French enterprises), UIMM (Union of Metal
manufacturing and Mining Industries) and GFI (Group of Industrial
Federations), as well as in specialised organisations such as URF
(the French Road Federation) and GERPISA (Permanent Group for
the Study of the Automobile Industry and its Employees). Worldwide,
it defends French interests in the ACEA (European Automobile
Manufacturers’ Association) and OICA (International Organization
of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers) and contributes actively to these
organisations’ production of statistics.
Reading this press file should, I hope, convince you of the quality
of our work, carried out with the aim of providing clear insight into
the automotive sector in France and throughout the world. Please
do not hesitate to contact the Communication Department at the
Paris Motor Show Press Office and to visit our Web site (www.ccfa.fr)
for any additional information that we will be happy to supply.
Best regards,
Xavier Fels
Chairman,
French Motor Vehicule Manufacters Association

With the launch of the fifth generation of their luxury saloon, the
world’s leading manufacturer of luxury cars has created the perfect mix of driving pleasure and the pleasure that comes with absolute sovereignty. The new BMW 7 Series embodies inspirational
luxury, dynamism which arouses the senses and a seductive
presence.
As the sportiest of high-end saloon cars, the BMW 3 series has
been in pole position for worldwide sales for many years. But not
content to rest on its laurels, the BMW 3 series aims to consolidate its lead. With new lines, a re-styled interior that is even more
refined, new-generation BMW iDrive as an option, new upgraded
engines and innovations in transmission, safety and comfort, the
new BMW 3 Series Saloon and Touring models are more appealing
than ever.
The much-awaited addition to the 1 series range, the 118d, four-cylinder diesel engine, already fitted to the saloon, is now available for
the convertible. Just like the saloon, the BMW 118d Convertible is
the perfect all-rounder. The four-cylinder, diesel engine develops
143 hp, for a fuel consumption of only 4.9 l/100km (combined
cycle) and 129 g/km of CO2. This means that the BMW 1 Series is
eligible for the €200 ecology bonus awarded by the French government (BVM6), thanks to BMW’s Efficient Dynamics technology, already present on the rest of the range. The new model is also
available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Hypnos brings together the dynamics of a coupé, the
elegance of a saloon and the space of an SUV in one impressive
package. Powered by specific hybrid technology, the Hypnos
concept car is the perfect illustration of how Citroën integrates
environmental aspects in the design of their cars and once
again, underlines the company’s will to combine ecological
concerns with efficiency and driving pleasure. As such, the
Hypnos features remarkable performance figures thanks to a
200 hp (147 kW) engine, along with excellent fuel consumption
and emissions levels (4.5 l/100 km and 120 g of CO2/km respectively).
The C3 Picasso reflects the creativity for which Citroën has
long been famous and stands out from the crowd with its bold
design and innovative architecture. It offers a maximum
amount of light and interior space in a compact body. Powered
by a series of powerful, yet economic and environment-friendly
engines, the C3 Picasso also offers dynamic handling and road
holding. Thanks to its particularly innovative architecture, the
C3 Picasso allies compactness and generous carrying space.
4.08m long, 1.73m wide and 1.62m high, it has an incredibly
compact front and a vertical rear section which gives an amazing amount of interior space. The driver’s seat is mounted
high up to dominate the road, and offers unrivalled all-round
visibility, thanks to an innovative windscreen that comes in

The C4 has a new image that reinforces the style that was much
acclaimed when it was first launched. Mainly concerned is the front
panel, which gives the car a powerful, elegant and dynamic look. At the
same time, the interior layout has evolved, with changes to the finishes,
the grain of several pieces of trim and the mounting of the rev-counter in
the centre of the dashboard. The range of Hdi diesel engines is more attractive than ever, with many features that respect the company’s Airdream® environmental programme. The 2-litre Hdi diesel version is the
first in the family to comply with the new Euro V standard. The use of new
technologies, such as very low resistance tyres, means that several models emit a maximum of 120 g of CO2/km, with the Hdi 92 and Hdi 110
fitted with manual gearboxes and BMP6. The new C4 has kept all the features that have made it a benchmark in its market segment in terms of
safety and driving pleasure with directional, bi-functional xenon headlights, a lane departure warning system, a steering wheel with fixed central controls and a hill-holder system to help with hill starts.

saloon and Coupé, ergonomics and comfort are the key words. The wide
range of different engines has been renewed in depth to combine low

diesel units emit 120g of CO2/km or less. The new TCe 130 petrol engine
is the perfect illustration of Renault’s downsizing expertise. It delivers
the power of a 1.8-litre engine (130 hp), the torque of a 2.0-litre engine

A 100% electric concept-car that prefigures transport in the future. Parallel to the new TCe and DCi engines, Renault continues its strategy to
reduce CO2 emissions by developing electric vehicles. The Z61 represents Renault’s vision of the electrically-powered car: an efficient, zeroemissions vehicle that is easy to use. It benefits from a fun design that

M IC H E LI N, # 1 I N FU E L SAVI NG
FOR MORE THAN 15 YEARS
(Paris – October 2, 2008) – Michelin is presenting its new
Michelin Energy Saver at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.
The Michelin Energy Saver is backed by some impressive
figures. By generating fuel savings of nearly 0.2 liters per
100 km in combined city and highway driving, it reduces
CO2 emissions by 4 g per km...The new range also stands
out for its superior wet grip and tread life. High marks for
these three performance criteria—fuel efficiency, safety
and high mileage—put the Michelin Energy Saver in a
class of its own. At Michelin, innovation always focuses
on improving performance in several areas at the same
time, with the goal of meeting drivers’ deepest expectations.
These can include combining safety and fuel efficiency on
every trip, throughout the tires’ useful life.
Launched in Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and
South America beginning in 2008, the Michelin Energy
Saver is the all-new, fourth generation of green car tires,
available in a complete range. The new name integrates
and expresses the mission of a tire dedicated to
improving the mobility of people and goods, while also
generating cost savings, helping protect the environment
while enhancing user safety.
145
Michelin will also set up a demonstrator at the Motor Show
across from Building 3 to give the general public a realworld view of the fuel savings delivered by the Michelin
Energy Saver tire.
Two identical vehicles will roll back and forth on an incline
track. One will be equipped with standard tires, while the
other will be fitted with the Michelin Energy Saver.
The car equipped with Michelin Energy Saver tires will
continue to travel longer than the other vehicle showing
that, like in real-life situations, the car would need less
energy to move forward than another equivalent vehicle
fitted with standard tires.

Pioneers in the development and marketing of cleaner energy,
fuel and lubricants, BP has committed itself to an educational,
interactive scheme to raise awareness among the general public
and put forward simple, effective solutions to control
consumption and cut emissions, especially of CO2
To this end, BP Ultimate is setting up a 300-sq. m interactive
platform at the Paris Motor Show, to roll out an original operation
to teach eco-driving at the show.
• A “Split Fuel” car (Ford Mondeo with an engine split in two,
using an endoscope to demonstrate live the results of tests
carried out with and without BP Ultimate SP98),
• nd, for the first time in France, and along the same lines, a
BMW motorcycle 1200 GS “Split Fuel” with endoscope and
camera to view how clean the engine is when using BP Ultimate
SP 98. What’s good for cars is good for motorcycles too.
- To test and improve your driving:
• 2 Eco-driving simulators for visitors to test their driving on
different road surfaces and in different traffic conditions: roads,
circuits, motorways, built-up areas, mountainous regions and so
on and their driving: speed, use of gears, braking, anticipating etc.
They can constantly adjust and improve their score by comparing
theirs to the top results, and the ideal circuit, and thus adapt their
driving to cut down on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Throughout the Paris Motor Show, BP will be offering eco-driving
lessons to visitors. They can enrol on site for an introductory ecodriving lesson. This involves driving through an urban circuit with
an instructor who analyses their driving and notes any potential
ways of driving in a more eco-friendly manner.
After this session, the instructor teaches them about driving
techniques to cut down on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
