North Texas Chapter La Voix Des Profs de la Presidente Mes chers collègues, Que le temps fuit vite ! Notre réunion du printemps aura lieu bientôt, le 5 mai, à TCU à Ft. Worth, grâce à notre hôtesse, Marie Schein. Elle a organisé un très bon programme sur les beaux-arts qui correspond à la nouvelle exposition impressionniste au musée Kimbell. Marie est très dynamique et elle a d’excellents projets pour notre chapitre. Donc, je suis ravie qu’elle devienne notre nouvelle présidente pour 20122014! Après la réunion, je vous encourage de profiter de l’ exposition au Kimbell puisque vous aurez déjà fait le trajet à Ft. Worth, et je vous rappelle que le Kimbell se trouve très proche de TCU. Il y aura un bon buffet libanais du restaurant Chadra servi sur place à la suite de notre meeting. De plus, nous élirons un nouveau 1er Vice-Président, un Trésorier assistant et nous cherchons un chair pour la Journée d’immersion aussi bien qu’une liaison Alliance Française. Si vous vous intéressez à l’un de ces postes, dites-le-moi avant le 30 avril, s’il vous plaît. C’est aussi à cette réunion où nous aurons le tirage au sort pour le travel grant Renée White qui vaut $500. Nous aurons aussi des « door prizes », bien sûr. Actuellement, je n’ai pas reçu de nominations pour le « Helen Lorenz Excellence in Teaching Award ». North Texas AATF Spring Meeting Information WELCOME TO TCU! Here is a map of the south side of the TCU campus where we will meet. Directions and Parking: If you take the Bush Turnpike, take it all the way to the end and get on I30 West. Then, follow the directions below. If you arrive from I 30 West, take Exit 12 A for South University Drive (also the exit for the Zoo). Take South University to Bellaire Drive North. Turn right. The nearest parking is available next to Palko as shown on the map and in a parking lot across the street on Bellaire Dr. North. If you arrive from I 20, take the I35 North exit to Berry Street. Turn left on Berry Street and stay on Berry until University Drive. Cross University Dr. and turn right behind the MacDonald’s. This short street will take you to Bellaire Dr. North. You will see one parking lot on the right and the larger visitors parking across the street. As soon as you register for the meeting, I will get you a parking pass. Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 in the Jones Student Lounge. Both Room 130 and the Jones Student Lounge are on the first floor on your left as you enter the building from Bellaire Dr. The lunch buffet from Fort Worth’s acclaimed Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine Chadra Mezza and Grill will be served in Scharbauer Hall, home of the Department of Modern Language Studies. We will walk together to our lunch room. Please see the flyer regarding reservations and payment. Workshop Title: Exploring French Impressionism, Designing K-12 Communicative Classroom Activities, and Improving the Four skills This interactive and hands-on workshop will allow participants to brainstorm about possible level-specific activities that incorporate masterpieces from the French Impressionists. Participants should go home with at least one ready-to-use activity to apply in class the following week. The Age of Impressionism: Great French Paintings From the Clark at the Kimbell After the meeting and lunch, you may want to take advantage of the great exhibit on the French Impressionists at the Kimbell Art Museum. Discounted tickets are $12 instead of $14 and do include the audio tour. You may purchase your ticket at the museum or reserve a ticket and pay at the meeting.
