Payment guide
Starting from April 1st 2016, all heavy goods vehicles of more than 3.5 tonnes must have a working On
Board Unit (OBU) in Belgium.
There are two possible ways to get an OBU and pay the toll: via the Road User Portal (available via
www.satellic.be) or via one of our Service Points.
The table below gives an overview of the payment methods :

ü The Deposit On Board Units are put at the disposal of the Road User against a €135 deposit. When ordering multiple
OBUs via the RUP, the payment can only be executed by bank transfer. Else, both credit cards and fuel
cards are accepted.
This deposit is reimbursed to the Road User after the OBU is returned in good condition.
ü The Toll A Road User can pay toll before he starts driving, or he can start driving and pay later. These options are
called pre-paid and post-paid. Upon registration, the preferred method has to be selected on the Road
User Portal or at a Service Point.

Pre-paid
If the Road User opts for pre-paid, he will need to top up his OBU before driving in Belgium.
When he starts driving, the Road User can see the remaining balance on the OBU and on the
Road User Portal at all times.
Post-paid
Post-paid payments will be carried out using the regular card issuer process.
If the OBU runs out of credit on the pre-paid account or there is no longer a valid post-paid
account, the Road User is considered a toll dodger because there is no longer a Guaranteed
Payment Method in place and the light on the OBU will turn red. This means that the Road User is no
longer compliant with the toll regulations and he risks a fine.
