MONDAY 5th DECEMBER 2016
Winchester
Cathedral Choir
Speaker: Gyles Brandreth
The Boy Choristers, Lay Clerks and
Organists of Winchester Cathedral
continue a thousand-year long
tradition of leading choral worship.
They are recognized as one of the
country’s foremost cathedral choirs
giving concerts worldwide, as well
as broadcasts for radio and
television. In April, they visited
Rome and Florence. The highlights
of the tour were a concert in the
Duomo in Florence and singing
with the Sistine Chapel Choir in the
Vatican at two services in the
presence of Pope Francis.
TUESDAY 6th DECEMBER 2016
Trinity Boys Choir
Speaker: Raymond Blanc OBE
Up to 100 trebles are coached each
week through a wide-ranging
repertoire. Boys continue to sing
after the voice change, both
alongside the trebles and in
dedicated male voice groups. The
boys are well known for their role as
the Fairies’ chorus in Britten’s A
Midsummer Night’s Dream, having
appeared in eleven different
productions worldwide. The choir is
particularly proud to have appeared
in the productions of Sir Peter Hall
at Glyndebourne and Robert Carsen
at the Aix-en-Provence Festival.
WEDNESDAY 7th DECEMBER 2016
Cantabile
Speaker: John Sergeant
The London Quartet was founded
in Cambridge as a purely a cappella
student group, they first came to
prominence in the Tim Rice musical
Blondel in London's West End. Since
then, the group has pursued a
policy of constant and dynamic
renewal, pushing back musical
frontiers, exploring ever-new
territories and attracting a
substantial following right across
the musical spectrum, worldwide.
They have sung in the most
prestigious venues for the most
prestigious clientèle, including
Buckingham Palace for Her Majesty
the Queen.
MONDAY 12th DECEMBER 2016
The Choir of Royal Holloway
Speaker: Alastair Stewart OBE
Created at the time of the foundation of
Royal Holloway in 1886, the choir was
originally only for women's voices. The
mixed choir now comprises 24 choral
scholars which are generously funded
as a part of the Santander Universities
Scheme. These choral scholars
undertake a busy schedule of weekly
services, as well as concerts,
international tours, recordings and
broadcasts. Considered to be one of the
finest mixed-voice collegiate choirs in
Britain, the choir benefits from a unique
training programme in collaboration
with The King's Singers - Royal
Holloway's Ensemble in Residence.

Reverie
Speaker: John Craven OBE
A new and exciting contemporary
vocal ensemble uniting some of Britain’s
very best young professional singers.
Reverie is defined by its unique blend of
voices and carefully crafted approach
to interpretation. These engaging and
distinctive qualities create a choral
timbre perfectly suited to modern vocal
repertoire. Reverie’s singers are
handpicked from Britain’s most
prestigious choral institutions. From the
esteemed choirs of the University of
Cambridge – such as those of King’s, St
