Artist
Jean-Pierre Evrard
Born in 1936, Jean-Pierre Evrard began as an apprentice in Cambrai at the age of 18
year-old while taking classes at the Beaux-Arts and following a Graphic Arts training.
In 1972, he gave for Kodak-Pathé numerous workshops for professional photographers
in France, then in Africa where he was in charge of marketing, communication and
advertising. In 1993, he decided to devote himself entirely to his photographic work he
had begun in 1980. He has since been traveling to many countries, creating a personal
body of work on the people and their environment. But it is in Africa, and especially in
Morocco, where he has been realizing most of his work. Armed with his old Rolleiflex
55mm, he remains faithful to the TriX film and black and white silver images he often
prints using old and expired papers. In 2001, he was named Chevalier of Arts and
Letters.
